Question So, who's your preferred retailer?

I don't want to slam retailers in this thread, but rather want your pick and testimonials respecting who you enjoy doing business with most. Take into consideration price, level of service, accuracy of order, efficiency in proccessing orders, and whatever else you deem necessary.

Why? Because I'm looking for a new retailer, and also because I think the information is helpful to a lot of people who read this messege board.

Definetly Jetway models www.jetwaymodels.com ! Nick, Steph are at the top of the game, imo. I am have been doing business with these guys since '98' and the have yet to let me down. While I have experimented with other retailers, Tristar, Skyjets400, Airline Museum, and yes the infamous Collectable Jets and CR Smith, all pale in comparision to Jetway's reasonable prices, quick (and reasonable) shipping, wide selection and great customer service.

One big selling point with Jetway is a choice of shippers. Most offer only UPS Ground and frankly UPS stinks (case in point, I just received a notice from UPS tracking that today's originaly scheduled arrival of an recent order from an East Coast retailer has now being pushed back to the 6th , which now makes 5 orders that have delayed at the last minute from UPS in the past 3 months) If you manage to talk another retailer into an alternate form of shipping (and believe me it some are steadfast in sticking with their contracted shipper) they tend to stick it to you on the cost. In my experience Jetway does not play those games.

In a nutshell..........Jetways rule!

Well this month I exceeded my budget by about $70 and I am looking at an bill some where in the neighbourhood of $220.00, althgough a number of these are pre-order releases. I like to stay in the $100-$150 range, which is not easy with AC putting on the squeeze with all of those tempting killer releases. Looks like Oct will be even more expensive if some of rumours of an BN onslught that I am hearing are true.

Hope to see some of you at the Houston show tomorrow. I should be there at 10:30 or 11:00.

Default Jetway all the way

I have been using jetway since 98 also, good prices and they have always replaced the broken models w/o question. Stephanie does a great job. I buy my SMAC from Skys the Limit.
He has fast shipping and good prices.

Thumbs up Best retailer?

The best? Nothing but good experiences with JetCollector. Smooth and correct service. Quality is a priority. Int'l shipping at good rates.

Now that I am writing... The worst? Collectable Jets. Collected over $100 early July. No sign of the models. No reply to any e-mail whatsoever. Other posts on this forum indicate I am not the only one. I can imagine they have troubles. But when I see their advertisements in very recent aviation magazines, I think their motivation lies elsewhere...

I would recomend Aviationworld, both Toronto and Vancouver. There alot of models that they have where other retailers have them as sold out. Service is quick, efficient and reliable.

I haven't bought from anyone else but these guys. They know their stuff and they deliver. Give them a shout I am sure you will be satisfied.

Toronto: 1-800-668-1978 or Vancouver : 604-718-7400.

Uh, yeah. What he said!

JetCollector.com is my main retailer--supplies most all of my diecast needs. I've also had several good experiences with Tristar, JetStream and others.

Thumbs up Best retailers.

Have tried most retailers in the US - mad situation when you live
in the UK - but it can save up to 50%. As you would expect
some breakages have occurred - mainly those damm brittle
metal undercarriages, (noselegs in particular).
Eztoyz - fast and efficient - occasional errors - normally
sorted out by Kam. 10% discount to regulars.
Jet Collector - very good indeed.
Aerojets - again very good - Mark very helpful.
Jetway - very good. got me my Jet Blue A320s.
Jetstreams - good but can be a bit pricey.
CR Smith - were OK until big dispute over shipping -
insisted on using crap Fedex - USPS not allowed.
Collectable Jets - first order went fine - then went
down hill fast - see my current moan under CJ thread.

Hope this help someone.

Jetway's been my main supplier because of terrific prices and service. Always prompt and pleasant responses to questions. I also use Tristar frequently because of their great selection. I've had great service from JetCollector, Jetstreams, Aerojets, eztoyz, Aviation World, Norpac-CAM and, yes, CollectableJets.

My only beef is with retailers who use UPS exclusively. Those of us with APO/FPO boxes can't get UPS delivery, so you automatically eliminate military folks as customers. Seems like you could offer a USPS option for us.

I have used Jetway and Paradigm in the past and both have had excellent service, prices, and quick/well-packaged shipping. I placed my first order with Tristar today. Sounds like I should have no problems.

Well living near Toronto, I'm 'blessed' with having not only one retail location to shop at, but two (Aviation World and Threshold Aviation)

I buy all my regular DW/GJ/JX models at Threshold as they have excellent prices and service, though occasionally I do buy a model (that Threshold doesn't have) at A World.

On a separate note, Threshold Aviation will start carrying AeroClassics releases soon.

I recommend Luchtvaart Hobby Shop!

www.lhshop.nl

It's not far from Amsterdam's airport.

All I can say is: Just great!

I've never seen a shop like this. They have a vast choice and ship worldwide.

I have ben working the black market in China of late and have done very well. We are talking samples and releases before they hit the USA. I get a shipment of about 20 models a month fom this guy in China. In return, I just place an occasional OTB and sport book bet in Vegas every now and then for this gentleman. He usually wins big and I get my models!

Mark at Aviation Delight can count me as a very satisfied returning customer; in this market it seems the little things are what are attractive among the competition, and this retailer offers up personalized service, competitive prices and good delivery turnaround.

As for anything that cannot be obtained from AD, Jetcollector.com ranks way up there (altho the exchange rate & duty are major considerations - ah well, cannot have a perfect world eh).

I can recommend most of the retailers already mentioned above simply because I know most of the owners personally and can vouch that they are great people and care for the hobby.

I could mention a few scumbag wannebe retailers who are clueless as well but I won't.

I would recommend Tristar,Jet Collector, and Jetway Models. I did have one problem with Jetway(No offense Nick) because Stephanie was on vacation but when she came back the problem was solved. Up until the recent problems with Collectable Jets and CR Smith, they were my main retailers. Price has always been my #1 priority with quality of service being #2. I can honestly say that I have had no major problems with retailers and that in the most part they will do what it takes to satisfy the collectors.

C'mon...isn't this more of a personal endorsement? Don't you get your planes (at least certain ones) factory-direct? I guess that "EXPERIENCE" translates into the higher prices typically seen in these retailers as opposed to other retailers who offer models at shall we say, more competitive prices for the collectorate. What experience is necessary to take a plane, wrap it in some bubble wrap, and throw it in a box with some polystyrene peanuts and send it off?

I think I will have some agreement that other retailers mentioned offer excellent service and better prices.

P.S. I AM HAVING A REAL BAD DAY)
