Member when everyone was so excited that NG would fill a void and be pumping out classic L-1011s and 757s and even 747s. I member.

Quiet month for me. I am fine with that. I got my C- aircraft last month. Now it's someone else's turn.

One small observation on the A350, NG.

Please note that the engine hot section casing colour shouldn't all be the same as the exhaust centrebody. It is actually fairly complex:

Boring. Sorry, guess I shouldn't say that. I'm sure there are some people who are pleased.
  • No Eastern L1011 bare metal or any other L1011s for that matter
  • No SPs
  • Retailer told me my SAA SP order is cancelled. Hopefully this gets rereleased

I had high hopes for NG - As someone else said, starting to look at lot like Phoenix.

Slightly disappointed that all 3 VN-AXXX A321s are from Bamboo, but still good to see some Vietnamese aircraft. Still waiting for that elusive Vietnam Airlines aircraft!

I'm hoping we see more classics very soon....including bare metal L-1011's.

I'm really hoping these 10 new moulds in 2021 include 747-100/200, 747-300, 747-400, DC-9-10, and MD-80 series.

NG made it quite evident that a 747-200/100 will be a new mould released in 2021 on instagram.

Some interesting releases. Think I'll pick up the Ethiopian and 2 Qatar eventually.

I understand people's frustrations but NG do have a schedule and there will be months where there isn't alot for you but honestly, NG usually have a pretty diverse line up, they've made pretty much every modern North American airline that they have a mould for in the previous months and are working to produce more models but I woundnt say they're turning into phoenix just because there are more Asian releases in one month 🙂 🙂

It's not necessarily that they are Asian but of 15 releases 14 are from after the 2010s and only one from the 1990s. I guess the Dragonair A330s cross these periods. Even so it is a complete reversal from the first year or two of NG releases. Whether you consider that good or bad depends on your criteria but as nice as these models will no doubt be they are all material released by existing manufacturers already.

NG have said that there are three new mould samples in the post to me as we speak. I'll report on them after they arrive - probably in a week or two but I wouldn't expect them to be MD-80s or the like.

I said it's starting to look like Phoenix releases. Do you know how I view the monthly Phoenix releases announced here? I check the list to make sure there are no N-regs and then I move along. This month's NG release list kind of gave me that same feeling. I think we can all agree that an N-reg Mexicana is not the droid I'm looking for here.

Mexican collectors will be pleased with this 757.
Finally someone makes one in the regular green tail 90s livery.

True there are more Asian releases this month but I’d say Americans have had a fair amount of releases over the past couple of months so it’s nice to see other regions get a couple more releases

That is for sure. Just saw the AeroClassics releases from today and found nothing to my fancy there either. So, $0.00 spent on new releases this month, which rarely happens. Life goes on and I look forward to February.

IMO Every monthly release is a box of chocolates! Ones that people like and ones people don't like! What one person chooses not to buy, another will! I like the mixing and matching, even if it's releases that other model manufacturers have already made. If somebody's waiting for a specific model and it comes every month you expect it, the excitement will slowly die off! To me it's the waiting game that makes it interesting. Pretty much like fishing, you'll get that bite eventually!!

Couldn't of said it any better.
If you asked for any model to be made, and it arrived on a silver plate, the hobby would get boring very quickly.
Sometimes a company can release a model you never knew you wanted, but when you see pictures, its a must have.
Some of these models I was never expecting them to be released.

Looking forward on the RP-C3508, but there is a problem with the aircraft’s logo. Wrong font and too big (“Philippines”). Hoping that NG can fix this one.

And given the current blockage affecting global shipping, it wouldn't be a bad idea to cater more for their home markets this month.

Here's the LTS 757:

NG don't forget my 757 wishlist here: https://www.yesterdaysairlines.com/m...7-200-wishlist

It's full of classic 757s that need making rather than the rather weird 757 offerings of late. Since I published this nearly a year ago you've only made 3 of the over 90 models on it!

Top 10 for me would be:
  • Inter European
  • Airtours
  • MyTravel
  • Air Belgium
  • Hispania
  • Nationair
  • Odyssey International
  • Royal Air Maroc
  • Kiwi International
  • America West Teamwork

Canada 3000 would be easy to make too since you made Air2000 and they share 90% of the same livery

-I disagree with you, I've been waiting so long for Qatar A350 release. You have no idea how hard it been for me to find a Qatar A350, especially a 900.

"No Tristars or 747SPs and random unimportant 757s from nations that barely ever operated the type (9M and VH) rather than some of the many N-, G-, or European 757s left to be made from major operators or from the types heyday."

-There are plenty of Tristars in the market. 747SPs, there could be more in the NG mould. That Raya Airways and Pacific Air Express 757F's , now those are unique. I'm so getting those like I got the Olympus 757F.

"At least it'll free up some cash for the Aeroclassics releases."

-I'll pass on Aeroclassics.

Keep it up NG!!

I’m gonna have to second with what JRB Aviation said before me. You guys do realize NG can’t make every collector happy, right? Plus, I’m sure there’s a cycle, too, where they will do more classics on some months, then less on the next few. Maybe next month your wish will be granted.

I do agree with how awesome the 757F releases are but it'd be cool if NG followed some kind of new release system for equal use of all their moulds.
Eg, at least one tristar or 747sp a month, 1 757 ect ect.
It would be nice also with finances, (only buying 1 or 2 a month rather than getting swamped with 5 models you want in a month).
It's always good to see a variety....

No schitt!? I had no idea!! Wow, I will approach life much differently from here on out as I had it all wrong all along!

I thought NG's response above about hearing about what some of us thought about this month's releases just validated the school of thought that if you don't speak out, no one will know what you want.

Actually, I am a very happy collector this month. Instead of buying more diecast toys, I won a rare 1980s-era Italian-made Tanfoglio!! Super happy!!

You are free to your opinion but I would say it isn't that 'hard' at all since there have been 14 Qatar A350s made!!! Ten are A350-900s although I admit only 1 other is in the standard scheme.

The A350-900 is only a few years old and 222 have been made. There have been L-1011 moulds around since the start of 400 scale and only 197 L-1011-1s have been made. So how are there plenty of Tristars on the market exactly - especially when the majority were made before 2010 and in very limited numbers (mostly on the rubbish Blue Box mould)?

Look you are welcome to disagree but you could have picked a better example. I understand NG aren't always going to make what I like but the trend of recent has not been great and I will lobby for my wishes.

6 years is more than a few.

There have been 406 A350s built so far and 915 on order, while only 249 L-1011s built ever.

So if you take a look at actual aircraft and models released, percentage-wise there are plenty of L-1011 made.

It is a common mistake to look at production runs vis a vis modern types and compare them directly with older ones to suggest modern types are more successful when in fact it is just a reflection of the market size nowadays. So yes there are more A350s but that is mainly a reflection of airlines just operating larger fleets of the type.

So you have made an interesting comment but not one I agree with. Of the 406 A350-900s built there are only been 31 operators most of which haven't changed their livery. For the 249 L-1011s built there were 18 initial operators, many of which modified their scheme during the types service history multiple times (TWA: 4, EA: 4, AC: 4, RJ: 4, BWIA: 3 etc), and about 45 further operators.

So I would again disagree that your point holds if you look at livery release candidates, and in fact the majority of A350s have been made multiple times already and very recently.

Plus the L-1011 is a more attractive and interesting aircraft

- I joined the hobby about 2 and a half years ago, I wasn't in the hobby for Gemini, JCW, and Phoenix release of their Qatar A350-900. When a standard livery one come up for sale, they go for around $65+. Money was tight for me back then. And now, it's pretty hard to find one for sale.

"The A350-900 is only a few years old and 222 have been made. There have been L-1011 moulds around since the start of 400 scale and only 197 L-1011-1s have been made. - I don't think you got what I meant. I'm talking about the Qatar A350-900's alone not other airliners or house liveries. After doing some research, there is around 500 A350-900's for sale and only 24 Qatar A350-900's are available for sale on eBay. For the L-1011-1s, there are 253 available. You make a fair point, but I'm talking only about the Qatar A350-900. The ones that are currently available are the launch customer livery and One World livery (I already have them).

- It's great for others. As JJ stated, NG can't make all collectors happy.

A Delta 727 at FRA? I'm guessing a transfer to a different airline.

I remember the widget 727s being a regular sight at FRA in the early 90's. I also remeber Saul Bass United 722s.
All this after Pan Am ceased ops.

From ATL? Or were they used for an intra-European route?

That makes sense. Up to 800 jobs lost in Europe was a big deal I'm sure.

Here are some of my early FRA photos (18 Oct 1992). Delta was a big player then.

Nice pics!! I would expect Delta widebodies at FRA. But I didn't know FRA was a DL hub with small narrow bodies operating out of there.

18 Oct of 1992. For me that was a week after spending 3 weeks of parachute training at Ft. Benning, Georgia!! That involved taking off five times on a C-130, but never landing with those aircraft.

Great to see some photos of classics at airports back in the day. I love Aviation now and have done so since I hatched, nothing will change until the day I depart Earth, but if anyone asked me what my favourite era would be,it most certainly be this one!! Thanks for sharing Ciderman!

I so wish I could travel back in time. The old visitor's terrace at FRA would be one place to visit. I can smell the kerosene and hear the sound of dozens of running engines and APUs.
Thanks for sharing, Ciderman.

I fully agree. Closing the old terrace was a terrible thing. The new terrace and the tour don't do this interesting airport justice. There were some intiatives to build a new terrace on Terminal 3 but FRAport doesn't seem to care.

Can we expect to see the images of the January releases soon? I see from the NG website that the December releases have disappeared with only January releases showing. That is normally a sign that the next months hints would be announced sooner rather than later...

Typically the previous month’s model photos come out before the hints. Once we get the photos I suspect the hints for February will come out around then.
