Those are nice!!!. So far, I only have one of the 3...the PA L-1011-500. Actively seeking the DL and EA.

Love these L-1011’s. Picked up the DL -500 and -200 when they were released and they are truly beautiful models - great GJ replacements I might add.

Also love the BA Landor -200 and -500 pair

Yes the NG's make a great replacement. Already replaced my old Gemini TWA TriStar... looking to replace my Delta, Eastern...and my ATA vacation scheme L-1011-100 if NG will ever make one.

Got all of those pictured and many more too. This is my favourite new mould for years, and all thanks to the input of several DAC members, myself included.

Nice collection there Doug!! Great background too!
I love my NG Tristars. My Delta is one of my favourites as I've always loved the widget scheme! Plus it was very hard to source at he time as it somehow didn't make it to UK retailers which I found odd! Waiting eagerly now for the Eastern polished version!!

NGM's L-1011 Tristar effort is a great success - everything, everything, done right. We waited a long time, and were rewarded, and NGM established a new level of customer service, responding to our suggestions, and holding back circulation where quality control issues occurred. NGM does it the way it should be done, and we're willing to pay a bit more for a superior product. Doug

Looks awesome Doug...I have all those, and all the other classic operators made to date. The Delta -200 was made in lower quantities, NG underestimated demand and thus sold out very quickly, within 48 hours if I remember correctly. Now very sought after, a holy grail for sure. NG truly smashed it with this mould, now even more refined after the last few tweaks. Let’s hope they can maintain their QC in the coming years ahead, as we hear news about expansion and loads more new moulds etc. etc.

My favorite livery (Delta Widget) on my favorite aircraft! What's not to like? I've definitely been impressed with this mould and will pretty much pick up anything released on it.

I did keep the Delta Belle Gemini though just for its uniqueness with the nose art.

I'm hoping NG releases a polished Eastern sometime soon as well.

Echoing the same sentiments here....the NG L-1011s are some of my favorite 1:400s in my collection. I've got the Delta -200 and -500, TWA, and just picked up the ATA. Would love to eventually snag the Air Canada white fuselage at some point too.

The Tristar was an airplane that might have done much better competitively - rough market out there, Doug

When she was new in the early 70's, a strike at Rolls Royce, put a delay on engines being delivered. I assume this scared away a few potential customers? I think I got that correct? No Google, just memory.

Your memory is dead on - always more reliable than Google. Not wishing to bash Rolls-Royce yet again over this episode, but it could have been a much different outcome versus the McDonnell Douglas DC-10, that airplane will always remain in my mind, a lesser product, but as it evolved, the DC-10 became a good airplane. It was more than a strike, the company failed and had to be nationalised by the British government. The ensuing mayhem almost took out the TriStar project completely.

Oh, OK. Lockheed must have been panicking?

No, but they went for a single engine option, and hindsight is 20-20. Just did my homework on Wikipedia, and what might have been an engine competitor, the General Electric CF-6 would not fit in the number two engine position, so Lockheed was pretty much stuck waiting on the RB211. And in the end, with evolving improvements, the L-1011 was a technically more advanced airplane than the DC-10, but more expensive, too. It remains the greatest airliner I never rode on... Didn't ride on the DC-10 either, but don't miss that, Doug

The start of its very unfortunate demise! So sad,as the Tristar being the great aircraft it was, had potential to be as successful as the DC-10!

Yes, even the A380 deemed to be a failure by many has sold more copies than the L-1011.

You can't really compare the aircraft market from 50 years ago to today's. Back then 250 of anything was a respectable number, especially considering that widebodies had just been invented and there were more than just 2 companies in competition.

True, TriStar production was respectable when you consider the competition from the DC-10, and even a bit later with the A300.
