Saw this in the 1/200 section, so why not do the same for the 1/400 fans?
Since it has been a terrible year due to COVID19, many of us have turned to our wonderful and addictive hobby to help us get us through these tough times, which model released this year uplifted you the most?
Copied from member 'Seven-Eight-Seven'.-
Explanations are a plus. Pictures of your model would be appreciated.
CRITERIA:
1. Released in 2020 calendar year
2. 1/400 scale
We'll keep this simple, I will count the top five nominations, and create a poll for finalists. There will be a Best of 2020, and two runner up. Just like a beauty pageant.
You're allowed to nominate 3 models, (number 1 being your favorite)
1st nomination = 3 points
2nd nomination = 2 points
3rd nomination = 1 point
Nominations from this thread will be collected until January 1st.
Have fun!
I'll have to vote for:
1. Aeroclassics Air Niugini 707 (P2-ANB) - A beautiful release, an exotic carrier which has little representation in 1/400 scale, hoping for more releases of this airline in the future (especially their 757).
2. Aeroclassics Air Pacific 767-200 (DQ-FJA) - An awesome addition to my Air Pacific/fiji airways fleet. Also have a good mate whose first flight was on this bird.
3. Aeroclassics Iran Aseman 727-200 (EP-ASB) - The last 727 in regular RPT pax flights, will look great next to my A340. Was nearly gonna try and fly on one, but visiting Iran would make it extremely difficult so visit the USA to a model will have to suffice. Also, Sam Chui stopped his tours.
1. Iberia A350-900 EC-NBE (NG Models) - Welp, I asked this exact registration of my favorite airliner on my favorite airline I flew on.
2. ANA 787 R2D2 (NG Models) - I just love R2D2, and JC’s was so hard to find, nice to get one from NG!
3. Swiss A320neo (Panda Models) - Just what I wanted on the best mould.
Special nomination: Vistara A320neo (Prairie Diecast - Panda Models) - Great release, preferred the A320neo over the A321neo, but the other releases are slightly better, and it’s a pre order!
All the Aeroclassics DC-8 models are superb but i would have to pick the Surinam Air DC-8 as #1 for the year 2020.. second place would have to be Phoenix BA Landor 777-200 and third for me Gemini Malev Il-62M..
1st nomination = NG Models L1011 Court Line (Orange, but the pink is equally gorgeous)
2nd nomination = Aeroclassics Iberia DC-8-63
3rd nomination = Panda Models Aeroflot Tu-134
1. JC Wings Boeing 787-9 in the Dreams Take Flight livery. I really like this one, personally, although the livery may not appeal to everyone.
2. Panda Aeroflot Tu-134. Also a really beautiful model. The details are super nice for such a small model.
3. Aeroclassics Air Pacific 767-200. I really love this model, and while it could've been done slightly better, I'm overall quite happy with the release and I hope Aeroclassics do more stuff from the Pacific region in the future.

Hat's off to Panda, for me it's a no brainer the TU-134 model(s) have been the star (and great surprise) of 2020!
If my Tu-134 had actually arrived within 2020 (unlikely to now) it would have undoubtedly gotten my #1vote. But hey ho, you can only vote for what you have.

Mine only arrived on Christmas Eve, so you still may get lucky and see it land before year end!
Two of my top-3 have yet to arrive at my doorstep for closer inspection.
Number 1 is save even though I haven't received mine:
- Panda Aeroflot Tu-134 - been waiting for this mould/livery combo for 15 years now.
2nd: NG SAA 747SP - unless they screwed something
2nd: NG ATA TriStar -1
3rd: probably the AC SAA DC-4 - even though I'm not sure which timeframe it depicts

Now are we supposed to vote 2020 releases or arrivals?

You can vote for it if you haven't gotten it yet.
Even if you haven't inspected the model yet, surely it can't be as bad as this situation? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V6knce3w6I8
This will help us have a clear winner.
Note to myself: If I have liked a comment, it means I have tabulated the votes.

Hah, nope, not until I physically have it.

I think I purchased all of three 1:400 models in 2020, so I nominate them:
1. Gemini Jets Southwest B737-700 Colorado One
2. NG ANA B787 R2D2
3. NG Airbus Industries A330 Beluga #2
1. Panda Aeroflot Tu134 (beautiful model badly wanted by so many)
2. Aeroclassics Surinam/KLM SCD-8 (simply sublime) (The A340 is a beauty too)
3. Aeroclassics Air Zimbabwe 707 (beautiful colours)
Aeroclassics have had a great year, NG Models have also produced some gems but just not really my categories.

Wow....so much great stuff was made this year. It's tough to choose.
1--Aeroclassics Varig 747-200. The most important mould in 1-400 back in action, fat aerials or no.
2--NG Models TAP L-1011-500. (I had to pick one--but both Court Line ones, United, Pan Am, all worth mentioning)
3--Aeroclassics United 727-100 "Blue star" livery. (Again, I had to pick--but Icelandair, AeroPeru, United Saul Bass, Piedmont, Royal Nepal, all worth mentioning.)

1. NG Models Alaska 737-800WL N565AS (HTWS was a great release too but put the points towards the normal livery)
2. Gemini Jets Southwest 737-700WL “Florida One” N945WN (surprised this one didn’t get more votes!)
3. Phoenix British Airways 777-200ER Landor G-VIIC (beautiful livery on a pretty nice mould too)
Just for fun, a couple honorable mentions for me would be:
Aeroclassics AeroPeru 727-100 OB-R-1081
Aeroclassics Northwest 727-100 DB Cooper
PandaModels Aeroflot TU-134 (enough people already voted for this one to carry it into the top 3)
I don't collect too many 1:400 planes these days, but did add the Aeroclassics Piedmont 727, so this is my favorite 1:400 for 2020. Don't have a number 2 or 3 pick.
1. Panda Aeroflot TU-134
2. NG Aer lingus L-1011
3. Panda WestJet 737-600 (maybe biased)
