Default How stupid to you have to be ??

I buy a descent amount of diecast lately, some off websites, some off Ebay, hard to find or deals.

Why in the world would anyone think it is ok to ship this way? This person has models selling in the hundreds does he ship those this way, so so stupid, no human with any level of brain could think this is ok.

Box was mint when I pulled the trigger, box is now toast, rubbish. Plane gear was bent, but since its Dragon I am almost getting it to go back.

Stupid way to ship a model airplane !

Well, I would think they would be smart enough to at least ship it in a sturdy box instead of a flimsy envelope.... but apparently not.

Boggles the mind doesn't it?? You're not the only one to get models like this. I got a 777 in this kind of envelope once and the model box, of course, was toast. Miraculously the model survived intact. Gave a generous neutral rating on eBay and the seller got pissed!! He said I should have contacted him first to "work things out". I really don't have the time for nonsense.

Hope this is not the same person I just purchased a Dragon Pan Am 747 from last week, since the sender's location is the same according to your shipping label 😅. And mine is an international shipping 😥.

This January I got an Aeroflot Il-62 which was completely crushed due to evident negligent handling during shipping, despite the seller having packaged it with care. I really hope the seller of the Pan Am I just bought is not the same that sent you that Northwest Cargo...

I had the same experience with the French shop socatec. Very loose and unsafe packaging. It was an IF200 773

Now that's pretty f****g stupid if u ask me!! The way the post is manhandled nowadays,it's not even safe from destruction in a steel safe...( slight exaggeration) but trying to put a point across! So where was this sender's brain when he( or she) decided to send it in a paper bag??? Looks like they need to attend some serious lessons at the 'school of common sense'!!

Interested to see what their feedback is like? Surely they don't ship all their models like this?

I wrote the seller and he says he is new at this , just selling off things, has offered to ship another item I might want in a box and reduce the price as well.

Update , now that I took him up on his offer he is acting oddly, maybe he is FOS, if so I will share his Ebay info in a fair way, if he comes through but is just really lacking smarts, I will also share that info.

Lets give if a few hours and see if he honors his offer to make things right in the end.

Oh... I’ve been very lucky with models shipping, amazingly, none of them have come on a bad way... hopefully you’ll be able to do something regarding your packages.

This is why I have stayed away from eBay. I’m starting to purchase models from there and am sticking to sellers that either have a high number of ratings (usually in the hundreds or thousands) and/or have near perfect feedback.

I also believe this is a situation in which you received the item not as described because you said the box was “toast”, which I’m assuming means the box is damaged. You definitely should take further action when you can.

the amount of times this kind of stuff happens to me is crazy (the neutral thing). Even if everything worked out, I'd still leave a neutral review since the seller F'd up in the first place. I don't want to have to jump through hoops so the right thing is done.

And then they say change the review or we block you. I could've been a recurring customer but no

Okay, the guy just has no idea what he is doing. He is a new seller, that's my error only 5 comments. He has like 30 listings for some interesting items, and some complete waste of time items. But after giving him time to sort this out. He decided not to do what he 1st offered. He went to the Post Office he said to get #4 Boxes to ship in for this size model, but they told him they did not have any. So now he has raised all his shipping prices but will ship UPS in boxes per his words, because they will let him ship in any box he wants ???

Horror 😭. Indeed he is the same seller that I just purchased the Pan Am 747 from last week . I'll be getting it over the course of the next week 😥😥😥😥. Now, perhaps I should be prepared to receive a "toast". I hope to be wrong

I too noted that he had no idea of what he was doing. Initially I was willing to purchase more than one model, but didn't because he refused to combine shipping, saying that if doing so, he would have paid part of the shipping cost himself.

HE has no clue, I tried to help him with the shipping, I mentioned he is going to get a lot of damage if he does not use boxes, he has said he will be using boxes as of yesterday and newer and be shipping UPS because and I quote they let you use any box you want ????

Good luck

Ok, now that you confirmed that it is the same seller,,my only option is to wait and see. It was so difficult to find a Pan Am billboard 747 at a decent price... 😥. I'll let you know how it turns next week.

Update to the weirdness, he did make good on the offer for the 2nd model afterall. Reduced price by cost of last models shipping, and has said he will ship all models in boxes from now on. Who knows, but at least he is making an effort.

Surely he couldn't be the original owner of those models? Probably a deceased estate or something?
Because if he was a collector, (unless he never bought online, ever) he would've received some of his models through postage, and generally if your models come in a shipping box, well protected with bubble wrap ect, it's a good idea to send them in a shipping box with bubble wrap!
Thankfully I've never had any bad experiences like this.

Would hate to see what this box would look like once shipped like this, the box is already toast.

Tbh I've used EBay for selling and buying for many years now. Let me just add,I'm not an eBay cowboy and have a lot of positive feedback. If I sell models on there,I pack them extremely well and I never ever rip people off. Sad u get jerks like this that give eBay a bad name. I will also happily admit that eBay has a no nonsense policy and will usually support the buyer in many circumstances, especially where the seller is a c**k!!

Not everyone values the box. I do keep them as nice as I can but some disintegrate regardless of how much you take care of them. In the end, the box protects the model

Actually, when I purchased my model from the seller refered in this thread, he also had a twin globe Gemini TWA 747 for sale , and its box was a thousand times in worse shape than the one in the listing above, more like shreds than a toast. That model was already sold so I don't have a link to show.

I got my Pan Am today. Yes, it too came in a paper bag with no protection. Considering it was international shipping, I guess the damage to the box of the model was light. The model is mint.

Same crap just happened to me today. A319 model came in a USPS padded envelope. Remarkably, box and model both in perfect shape! Still, this doesn't pass the common sense test!

I purchased a 2nd model after he offered to give me a steep discount to make up for the poor pkg choice on the 1st. He boxed this one with little or no protective anything. Plane made it but he does not know what he is selliing or doing, The plane had one missing tire and the wingtip antenna on one wing was broke. Overall a bad seller and deal. Avoid if you can.

What model was it? I hope it was a BIG discount.
So he sent the model the same as he did before? Without learning his lesson?
As Einstein once said, stupidity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result.
