Lovely model. Nice to see the old classics still being made.

Would be nice to see an Air Zimbabwe 767-200 in the rainbow scheme.
Looks great!

The attention to detail and accuracy on those 747s was a lot better 15 years ago. I already wondered about the rather random wing leading edge detailing on the Iran 747. Sane here now, and grey pylons with bare nacelles is a rather weird combo.

I have to agree with Alex here. I discussed the grey pylons with Andrew right after the Air France 747s were released. However, this error dates back to the Inflight400 relases on this mould in 2012. The pylons on their British Airways or Pan Am 747s were grey as well.

I suspect the artwork of the wings/pylons has never been changed since then. And as Andrew may have bought parts of their stockpile I don't expect any changes in the near future. It isn't a deal breaker fro me but it is unfortunate.

Received my copy of PP-VNB the other day, stunning model. I agree with the points raised above, but nevertheless still a worthy addition to the collection. The printing is nice and crisp on my example, very clean cheatlines with no smudging or blurring in the tampo print. Glad I got hold of one. Could always take a fine modelling brush to those grey pylons I guess...

I did this for the Inflight400 British Airways Landor 747-100 but it's always tricky.

Can you take photos and show them? Does the silver belly look good? If I can get hold of one I'll add it to my collection.

Of course, delicate work would be involved, especially where the pylons meet the wing on the underside. Not an option for the feint hearted.

Here are some quick pics I took. Polished belly is looking good to me! I’d recommend getting hold of one if you still can.

Like the polished belly. I've already have the Varig 707 and DC-10, would love to add the 747, but missed out on that one.

It would partner the DC-10 & 707 really nicely I’d imagine (don’t have those two myself). Shame you missed it - hoping you might still get lucky finding it somewhere.

Welcome. Yes, this variant is correct for ‘80’s delivery condition. The original PP-VNA release is very late ‘80’s - ‘90’s, around the time it was leased to Aerolineas Argentina, so it adds nicely to this release for the difference in era as well as registration. Hope you can still find it at retail!

Well, I hope the image's post processing or camera is to blamed for that.

But I learned that Vietnam's livery IS difficult to photograph as it can look extremely different depending on lighting conditions. The real thing you posted is what I'd expect it to look like under the sun.

Oh man, and I thought the weird looking leading edge detailing is the only thing to worry about on today's AC 747's wing.
Are those inspars really printed (sprayed on) right through the flap track fairings?!?
Sorry to say that for my once favourited and almost exclusively collected brand, but this has got to be the cheapest executed wing I've ever seen on a 400 scale 747.

Just for reference, I quickly fished this wing out of my scrap box. That's what a BB400 wing's printing looked like back in 2003 - 17 years ago!

This is a different image of the same model... looks exactly the same. What a shame

Yes, indeed they are lol. Looks like I'll be getting my custom colour-matched paint and fine brush out to deal with it...

Never in a million years would I have thought AK would have reconsidered adding the 747 to the AC lineup! He has treated us to some gems imo with the 1st handful of releases.

Thanks for your words of encouragement.Most appreciated in this sea of hostility! It's very sad for our hobby, that in spite of the efforts some of us make, and the fact that China Coronavirus keeps us away from our production line, certain individuals spare no effort to nitpick everything to death. We will continue our efforts however will no longer reply to the nitpickers. They should all go either;
a/ found their own company and do a better job
b/ change to another hobby, such as Beannie Babies
c/ STFU

Quite frankly, I don't care which option they choose.

I'm also happy that the 747 is back in the Aeroclassics portfolio. It's a great mould and the paint issues can be easily sorted out in the future. So more, not less 747s, please.

Please realize that Vietnam A321NEO VN-A618 is not painted in standard livery color. It's blue.

Now that is interesting. Do you have any more info or evidence on this? Or are you referring to the model?

The real thing looked rather standard to me

Yes it was very unexpected, never thought we'd see 747's on this classic mould again from AC. These releases have been superb, hope we'll be seeing more of them, especially some key 'grails which are still missing.

Those too and any KLM 747-200 with a new, never done reg would be a hot seller imo. PH-BUH. Not realized in 1/400.

I'd actually prefer a KLM 747-200 with 10 windows on the upper deck and PW engines. That version has never been done in 1/400. It used to be the only variant that kept the short upper deck and was operated by KLM until 1990.

Wouldn't mind an Air Canada 742M without the Singapore 85 decals on the tail. Technically not a rerelease lol

event different aircraft but the colour almost the same. I'm now still working with both VNA NEO
but, the model from Aeroclassics was totally wrongly painted, clolour, yellow line drawing, belly colour, wrong wings....

Did you read what I posted in #114?

But congrats on finding an image that looks halfways like the model.

I wasn’t looking for the same registration, either way, they have the exact same color (the real ones)

Yep. Airbus wont paint them up in various shades of blue.
Things would be different would we be looking at an older airframe with either faded colors (but they don't turn dark blue then) or with a non-manufacturer applied coating. But even then, I'd expect them to use their corporate standards.

Excellent suggestion! There's a lot of bare metal on this scheme, let's hope whichever manufacturer takes this up does their research and does it right for all of the collectors.

Having spent the best part of a decade trying to nail down the 2 Aeroclassics/Euroclassics
747 releases already extant in this scheme, and finally being successful after that very long search, I know all too well how difficult, and sought after, this iconic early “blue top” scheme is on this classic airframe. Collectors would really appreciate a second chance with these in 1/400!

Totally agree that this would be great to see back again on another reg., both with GE power-plants and especially, as Ciderman raises, the P&W 10-window upper deck variant that we’ve never seen. Also a chance for them to be made with actual polished bellies, which has never been done either; we had the silver finish instead, which is nice but never as good as the actual polished fuse.

In fact, I can apply the same request to the British Airways Red Tail “Negus” 747, the more commonly seen 10-window UD configuration for their P&W -136’s has also never been seen in 1/400, both in “British airways” & “British” titles...how easy it is, when discussing this Queen of the Skies, for a wishlist as long as your arm to suddenly develop, especially when we’ve seen the re-emergence of the veteran “BB400” mould after so many years...

Can I also add Qantas ochre cheatline ‘70’s delivery c/s, the very first airframe delivered to the airline in 1971, VH-EBA 😜 “City of Canberra”. With a polished belly, please! The 2006 Big Bird releases sadly lacked a true polished belly on these. Such a historically important aircraft, with a long service history, and ties to the Air Lanka suggestion earlier, as this aircraft was leased to them in 1984, wearing full colours.

In fact, you could almost do a series following this aircraft in a similar way to the A300 “Following Captain Cook” series; VH-EBA made it’s way back to Qantas in 1986 wearing the Euro-White livery, with silver P&W engines (this has never been done either) and stayed with them until 1996, as “City of Ipswich”, before again going on to other operators.

Sorry I went on a bit of a tangent there 😮😂✈️👍

This is a completely different aircraft? The flower on the tail is even in a different position to the NEO version.

Assuming all the NEO versions are painted in almost the same colour the aeroclassics version looks incorrect.

This would mean this release was done with two different batches of wings. How's the rest of it? Leading edges, pylons..

Received my pickings from this months releases today, from CAMAUS, great and friendly service from the only Aeroclassics dealer in Australia!
They are a Christmas present, but couldn't resist taking them out for a quick look. So good to see Aeroclassics bring back the queen of the skies.
I usually don't buy new releases straight away, but I knew these would sell out quick.

My mistake, paint is also wrong under the wings, but overall looks great.

I guess it truly matters for those who display their models upside down, or have nothing better to do than look for mistakes, under a magnifying glass if need be.

Andrew - I have mentioned this before, and for me, it is the miniaturization of 1/400 scale that draws me in. These are small gems that invite close inspection and appreciation of fine detail, so yes, I use a magnifying glass and macro photography to get a closer look, and detail observed under magnification seldom disappoints. If there are faults, they are usually easily seen with the naked eye - gross mistakes. Overall, it's a wonderful hobby and we are being well served. Thank you, Doug
