The Qantas and BA Oneworld livery are really cool for this month. I don't have any Phoenix models though, but it'd be nice to consider one of those jumbos!

The problem with PX is.. they release these liveries everybody would like see on a different mould and from a different manufacturer.

But you´ve got no choice. If you´d like to have a BA 744 "one world" you have to buy it from PX. Maybe you remember the Latam "Star Wars" B777 or the VS 744 "Star Wars"? Only PX did them.

For me PX produces a bunch of crap. The A 380 is the only model you can buy imo.

I so want these Kalita and Air Hong Kong 747s but I also know about the shortcomings of the PH 744 mould - what to do? 🤔

It has a terrible bulging nose and drooping wings. At first you may not notice but as soon as you know, you cannot unsee it. It's a shame because as said they do some interesting releases on it, that you wish would come out on a better mould.

Trying to work out if the PHX 744 BA G-CIVZ is different from the GJ400 release of G-CIVC?

It should be, CIVZ was painted in a revised version of the OW livery a few months ago so hopefully it's that version.

I've looked at the Gemini & Apollo releases and actual pics and can't see any difference in titles or logos.
If it isn't noticeable it isn't worth getting especially taking account of poor mould and high price.
Or am I missing something?

The titles are bolder and there's the crest next to the British Airways titles. Not super different bit noticeable in my opinion.
CIVZ is first pic

Ah Thanks. I am going to give it a miss as on a 1/400 the font difference and crest will be barely noticeable. I have backfilled my collection with BA planes with the crest as it is larger.

JC wings will probably release the Air Hong Kong 744BCF on their new mould, you should probably wait for that.
They will probably also release the Connie.

What everyone says above basically. I've said this many times too, I have passed on so many wonderful releases because of the mould and only this. Shame they can't or don't want to correct the nose on their mould.

Don´t buy the B744´s only if they have changed the mould (probably not)..

I going to upgrade my cargo collection with the China Cargo B777..

Thanks for the info. I may get one for shots and goggles to make a fun unboxing video on pointing out everything wrong

I have sourced a Geminijets Kalitta Air/DHL 744BCF and will wait for Air Hong Kong, hopefully JC wings will do it - so I will pass on Phoenix offerings

Don't worry too much about what everyone says about the PHX 747. Yes the nose is too bulging, yes GJ/JC/BB/Apollo/AC are all better moulds - if you can get your hands on them in the livery you want. But IMO it displays fine, and if it's a livery you like that no one else has made, then it's your choice to enjoy it anyway.

I appreciate your thoughts. I will consider the BA Oneworld or Kalitta/DHL for Christmas purchase (I have like 7 models selected for Xmas already, don’t judge me).

I'm torn on that BA 747, I've wanted a OW BA 744 for years but now that it's been retired it don't really fit into my collection. I already have a normal livery one in my "Flown on" collection and the PHX 744 needs no words 😂 then again I'll be kicking myself if I don't get one...
