Expensive at HKD850 for a 1/400

I just wondering which mould it's using

Made in the JC Factory. All Herpa 1/400 are made by JC. The mould looks like its the new 747-400 flaps down 1:400 mould JC is releasing soon, but with flaps up wings?

It honestly looks similar to the 1:200 version of JC Wings mold, especially the join of the wings and the fuselage. Any other 1:400 B744 has used this mold, or is this CX the first one?

Looks like the mystical new JC 747 tooling is coming to light! Good to see it finally. Needs some tweaking, but much better than what the current 747 offerings are.

Tweaks are in the works. Specifically the nose gear. The Nose gear design itself is brand new, with some tiny details added, but the height is not correct and is being corrected hopefully. A review of the flaps down variant is coming soon!:envy:

Here we go! The mould looks pretty good, but HKD850 converts to $110, and that's just a tad over that $50 higher limit being discussed. Is this price an accurate estimate? Over, Doug

I do love that livery...best one for CX IMHO.

Hopefully they are sold in the CX town offices, and I still get my Marco Polo Club discount!!

A little spendy for a 1/400.

Wow, it looks really nice. But I'd love to see an accurate price point. Also, I had no idea Herpa models were being made by JC wings.

The mould looks promising. I hope this pricing doesn't set a precedent for other 1/400 models!

Wow, nice! At least it's better than the PHx one.

My guess it's a Licensed model for Cathay Pacific. Herpa has to give the airline thier piece. Herpa is always more expensive anyways. Their 1/72 military stuff made by JCWs/Witty have a ridiculous price point

$126 is just a little steep

What does the JC mould improve upon exactly. Details like flap and rudder tabs or the shape of the fuselage itself?

"A little" steep??? If the standard price of 1/400 scale models typically go for even half of $126, my disposable income will be going towards other things. I've already cancelled a couple orders, including the new AeroClassics 747-200s. I'm sure I'm not the only one that wonders to himself if I really need a particular model or not.

Putting in pre-orders for a bunch of models just to not "miss out" as soon as they are announced and decide whether I want to keep them or sell them after I receive them is a thing of the past for me. Now I carefully combine pre-orders from different manufacturers in any given month.

$126 for a 1/400 747?? Seriously?? Herpa can take these 747s and shove them up their a*&es!! Not worth the money!!

I quite agree Harvey, what an effing joke this hobby is becoming, prices like that are just taking the P. I see there's also something of a backlash to prices building up amongst the 1:200 section now as well.

Back on topic though, does this highly over priced example not have any antenna ?

No fekking antennas for this price!!! WOW!!! Cheaper models get the extra effort. For this price, the tire treads better be spot on accurate!! There better be translucent cockpit windows with accurate cockpit controls and the whole bit!!:evil:

Apparently you can't detect sarcasm.

With that said, I wouldn't freak out about this. It's on a rewards site and anything on those sites is typically overvalued so that those paying with part miles and part cash end up paying more cash.

Looks pretty good. It has the BB400 kind of shape. Too bad it comes with disco glitter belly not chrome finish. Already ordered one to see how it goes with the Magic Cathay 744 I bought 10 years ago.

From what photos I have seen, the QC is extremely poor - bubbles, paint smeared, poor fitting etc
