Dragon Wings Air New Zealand Cargo B747

I've begun to develop an interest in Air New Zealand models, especially in the 1990s livery. I guess I saw a photo of an early GJ B747-400 and it reminded me of spotting the real deal at LAX, back in the 1990s, of course. Trying to stick with smaller narrow body models and already purchased quite a few older AeroClassics releases.

So I was browsing DIMA for Air New Zealand models and came across this "Air New Zealand Cargo" B747:

I searched DAC and the only thread I could find that mentions this model is in post #6 of this thread from way back when.

I can't find any additional photos of this model. I realize it's a fantasy model, but I really like the look of it. Does anyone remember how this model was released? Was it a corporate model that was never available for purchase? No reg# on the model. Reference says it is operated by Atlas Air, but I don't even see "Atlas Air" anywhere on the model. Googling "Air New Zealand Cargo" only reveals photos of DC-8s that wore such titles.

Just curious here and wondering if anyone has more info.

If you find one of these then grab it. I won't be like some and say they are "rare", but I will say that they infrequently turn up for sale. haha.
There is one for sale on ebay now, but it is missing two of its engines for some reason. They were released as a corporate model, from what I have been told by other people. I, myself have never read this confirmation in an official capacity. Correct in it being fantasy, the dc-8 was the only ever dedicated freighter. We did have ZK-NQC which was a Quick Change B 737-200 that did pax during the day for Air New Zealand and then was converted at evening for the nightly freight run on the main trunk line in New Zealand. It is a brilliant model. Unfortunately mine has some paint bubbling but I enjoy it none the less.

Very intriguing! Probably given out to employees, who were probably not collectors. After all of these years, I suspect many ended up in the trash heap.

Thanks for confirming the DC-8 was the only one that wore cargo titles in real life. You have a nice collection of ANZ narrow bodies! I have ZK-NAW headed my way. Paint bubbling is a bit worrisome.
