Default BA 2012 Games Dove & Firefly A319's

I do not really collect 1/400 scale models, but have been looking for this pair for awhile, as it seems they haven't made them in the 1/200 scale ??? or if they will be made in the future, so I finally Managed to pick this set of Phoenix ones of Ebay, I have a BA fleet so these were needed.

I remember when those came out. Lovely models. I never bought them myself. There are so many good Olympic schemes out there, it's a slippery slope so I tend to stay away from those. I do remember these games as some of my favorite (I loved the tennis, Sir Andy Murray won gold if I recall, epic), so these models do elicit happiness for me. This pair really are nice looking, especially the "dove" scheme. Great detail! Thanks for posting.

I got these as well, the Dove stuck around for several years after the games, generally ending up with standard BA blue nacelles, prompting me to refer to them as the 'blue collared dove', lol. The Firefly was repainted quickly owing to contractual issues around how long they could use the Olympic logos on the aircraft. I also have a BA Olympic 732. It would be nice if NG gave us a BA Olympic 757.

Great liveries and models. We definitely need these in 1:200 too.

I remember these models coming out, I bought the “Dove” scheme from Phoenix and I think the other from Aeroclassics (might be wrong on that). Neither fit my collecting criteria but I liked them.

Several frames got painted in the “Dove” scheme, I flew on a couple but never this particular aircraft.

I think the last Dove was repainted in 2018? They looked proper filthy coming into land each time! The Firefly scheme was referred to by crew, as the "Flying streak of pi**"

I think the two AC versions are cracking little models, the Dove livery couldn't have been easy to reproduce. There was a Firefly one that was continually listed on ebay for £130 for years and never sold. It might still even be on there!

Have to disagree Grizz on the AC I bought both the Firefly versions. and both have various print errors

But I felt the Phoenix was overall closer c/w the Aeroclassics which is too dark, and the wheels don't look like a cheap toy.

Phoenix left AC right last pic AC top Phoenix bottom.

Might have to agree to disagree on that one Aviation mate. The pictures of the AC one are way darker than what mine looks like in the flesh and I've seen photos of the real thing in different lights where it looks like the Phoenix and others where it looks like the AC version. I'm happy with what I have

Engines on the Phoenix version missing the "fins". Photos of the real deal show "fins". I guess both have their pluses and minuses.

The Aeroclassics versions are undeniably the superior mould by some margin and the only place where they are not is the wheelhubs. Otherwise the AC has a better nose, better, gear legs, better fuselage/wing join and better tail.

The Aeroclassics has much better cockpit printing as well.

The only place the Phoenix is superior is the gear hubs and the colour.

The fins are present on the engines of the Phoenix they are just higher and smaller.

Are the fins painted on the Phoenix version? I don't see any fins protruding.

With all the ultra nit picking going on with the NG 747SP cockpit windows (barely noticeable to me), there are some real obvious differences with the cockpit printing on these two A320s. Where's the outrage on the Phoenix cockpit windows? I guess without a manufacturer that engages with customers, there's no point.

After reading this thread, I looked out my Olympic A319s from storage; I have the Phoenix Dove and the Aeroclassics Firefly. I’m not a “rivet counter”; to me, if a model is a good representation of the real thing, I’m happy.

I’m happy with both of these models, I only saw the Firefly on one occasion but don’t really remember it that clearly so can’t comment on the colours and which model is the best representation.
