I always think the house colours is a great way to launch a new mould, just like in real life. I think NG have only done this with the 757 so far ? But on the other hand the prototype 757 (silver version) was issued with the wrong engine type causing a long delay until the correct one was issued.

As to the choice of SP release, I see it a bit like my day job making TV shows. We rarely broadcast the first show in a recording series as the first on air. Preferring to make the first 'on air' a show from further down the line when all the niggles are sorted out and everyone from the host to the make up lady are 'up to speed'.

The others will come, but given there were plenty of requests for the Sands TriStar, Iimagine this SP will sell well enough.

This is a question for NGmodel: have the August 787 releases corrected the nose-down attitude and short nosegear seen on previous NG 787 releases?

Thanks NG, for not making the Sands 747SP that Gemini made already (I believe it is VQ-BMS).

So far Vistara has only taken delivery of their first 787-9 VT-TSD, the second VT-TSE is reportedly going to be delivered in the coming weeks/months.

The airline is also reportedly in talks with Boeing to defer the remaining 787 orders including the 3rd (for which the TSF registration is still hypotetical) so it's unclear when it would be delivered, if it ever is.

I personally would prefer VT-TSD as it has actually been built and delivered to the airline.
Also there's always a risk when making a model before the actual plane is build and painted as the Gemini British Airways A350-1000 has shown. The real thing might end up different from the model.

So for me, I don't necessarily mind that their first SP release is a bit of an obscure version, with the more blue-chip liveries being made later-on.

Yeah, bummer about no L1011's this month.
You absolutely nailed it in my exact way of thinking!!

Collecting is becoming unsustainable!
The Pound has weakened significantly against the US Dollar,so not really that much difference anymore, compare to some years back!

Has the nose-down attitude been fixed for 787s and the window printing height for the A330s in the August releases?

Yes it has, as has the cockpit window printing. While the main gear height is better than it was previously, it now seems to sit too low to the ground. I think a height between their old and new gear would have been the right choice.

I really don't understand that statement? Are you saying that all the first models released on a new mould will be inferior to all subsequent issues? Surely if a pre-production sample prototype is made, reviewed and tweaked/corrected, then ALL models should be perfect in the manufactuer's eyes?

No one's put out a perfect product on the first try, ever. And I'm not just talking about models.

Picking an easy scheme to do it with allows them to get feedback and detect issues with printing/etc before they start going after more subjects.

Yes indeed, you've already released a non winglets version of this livery. How about this though as an alternative with the nose art tribute to New York Yankees baseball legend Mariano Rivera on N709TW ?

This aircraft (N666DN) is a bit unusual in that it had winglets added sometime around 2010 while in a regular domestic configuration, then had them removed when reconfigured to the sports charter configuration for standardization of that subfleet. IMO a N5xxUS (3 door) or N8xxDX (4 door) ETOPS aircraft would be more interesting for a standard livery winglet from a fleet building standpoint since none have been done in 1:400 and they fly a more diverse range of routes. The N6xxxx and N5xxNW (as well as the retired subfleet of 4 door non-winglet N5xxUS) aircraft are all regular domestic config (more limited routes). The most recent GJ releases and NG releases have all fallen in the group of regular domestic aircraft

I know for certain that N542US and N549US have had mica paint for the blue since ~ late 2016. Not certain if there are others, but there very well might be. Might have to look back through my own photos and on jetphotos or airliners to investigate.

Here's the difference for anyone that didn't know, The light blue part of the cowling is the old blue, the dark sections is the new one.

Quite a bold choice given the current context and uncertainty of the Vistara 787 order.....

If I may ask, what motivated the change from the originally planned VT-TSD?

Here's another comparison with an aircraft in the normal paint from similar angles to illustrate the difference further. The mica paint REALLY pops in the right light! Hoping to see this one from NG, or even N823DX for a 4 door since it was the last 757 off the line. Both are quite a bit more interesting than just any random 757 in the fleet.

I’d personally rather see a normal delta 757, preferably a 6 door wingletless one, a mismatched engine seems kinda niche, that’s not saying I wouldn’t buy it anyway

Those Court Line and Royal Jordanian TriStars would make wonderful models.

Oh I definitely agree about the mismatched engine cowling panel, though I think that picture was used more for the purpose of illustrating the paint difference. I would hope on a model that the engine is a solid color like the left one. Wouldn't mind seeing a 6 door wingletless aircraft also at some point, maybe that would be a good choice for the N666DN suggestion earlier in the thread (the N75xAT fleet would also be cool to consider: they were oldest 757s in pax service when retired!). Delta has a rich variety of configurations in their 757 fleet, so the more the better

I’d love to see some of their special stickers released, like the spirit of freedom and the Joseph E. Lowery

Yea the photo was just for comparison purposes. I'd personally disagree with the cowlings though, it's common to see it in real life (along with radomes) so I think it would bring a bit of realism if they did it in 1/400 🙂
