Default Sun Country 727-AeroClassics

My Sun Country 727's were sitting on my front porch after returning from camping yesterday. Ordered from AeroClassics Direct as they had the best price when factoring in shipping.

I know this model doesn't appeal to a lot of the collectorate, but it is a Holy Grail for me that I've been bugging Andrew about for YEARS!

Well, the colors are PERFECT! Exactly as I remember them (and countless photographs confirm) when here and a few of her sisters were huddled around the old Hughes Terminal off Las Vegas BLVD.

But this model having perfect colors highlights a flaw with the colors of the DC-10 also released by AC a couple of years earlier. I knew the colors were off on the DC-10, but didn't realize just how "faded" the DC-10 was when compared to the 727.

I doubt that we will ever see another release of the Sun Country DC-10 by AC, but if they do, I hope they get the colors as perfect as they did on the 727.

Thank you, Andrew and the AC team, for this SC 727, it means a lot and it's absolutely beautiful!

It was a Holy Grail month for both of us! Mine was the NWA Bowling Shoe DC-9-50. Interesting that both airlines are/were based out of MSP. Always great to hear about collectors getting their most sought after models after years of waiting.

I picked up one of these since I didn't have the DC-10 in this livery, and I agree it looks great. Now I just need my holy grail, the 727 in the next livery after this one.

Very happy to finally acquire this model. Sun Country operated scheduled charters to my home airport, GCM, in the 1980's and 90's during the winter tourist season.
