All brilliant suggestions. Adrian, you are right, you do have to be careful what you wish for!! This will indeed be a very good opportunity for those who missed out on those impossible to find earlier releases, which do go for insane prices. But, during these very uncertain times, many will have to be very careful when it comes to parting with the cash even for these, myself included. That’s the hard part about the hobby at the moment. Very limited releases too, I expect!

That's fine news!

Lufthansa got the first 747F according to my references along with Air France.

I would appreaciate such release a lot.

A good point Al. Unfortnately, the recent price hikes may also make these unaffordable for new collectors, but hopefully will force some greedy E. Bay sellers to bring their prices down as it will be a case of 'supply and demand'.

If it was a 747, I'd be sure to do those Eurowhite AF & SAAs first, just because you're asking for them!!

Well that sounds good 😮😊👏 What about Air France original delivery c/s from the early 70s? I think Adrian might be referring to this version too. The original pair you released way back in early 2003 are impossible to find! Now could be a chance to revisit these, with different registrations etc.

I’d say between the earlier split blue cheat line version, the “Barcode” has to be my favourite, and the only euro-white scheme I’m actually fond of. Way ahead of it’s time; I believe it was applied to the Concorde first, in 1975. Light and modern, suiting the supersonic jet very well indeed, so much so that BA created a euro-white version of their own Negus identity to suit the type also.

A decent 747 like we had previously with the Big Bird mould would surely be a cash cow for anyone who produces it. I am fortunate to have bought a number of the original Aeroclassics/Big Bird releases but I am sure that if virtually all of them were done again they would sell.

There are a few gaps in the liveries produced as many have said so I am hoping for a broad mix of releases; both those already done and those that were missed first time around....

Here's hoping that it is actually a 747 that is coming

Anyone remember this one from AV400? I was fortunate enough to locate one on Ebay several years ago. These things never come up for sale anymore. A great LC/AC to start with!

That was how I viewed AF's white-fuselage bar-code livery back in the 1980's. One major carrier having what we now call a Euro-white livery, was plenty. The smart bar code and big blue titles are tasteful. The livery stood out in the crowd.

That said, AF's Euro-white look should not have been copied. Our aprons look much better with lots of color than lots of boring white polar bears.

Quite exciting if it's a 747; always love seeing more of those.

But, I'll be surprised if it is a 747. Since some threads ago it was emphatically said that AC was "NOT" working on any 747 projects. But, in the event it is, I'd pitch a United 747-200. The only classic releases done have all been 747-100's; N157UA in the Saul Bass livery by BigBird/Your Craftsman, and N156UA by SMA in the battleship grey. Both 747-100's with the 3-window upper decks.

Would be neat to see a 747-200 with the full 10-window upper decks.

YES!! That is another major ‘grail. Absolutely, a must. Never had this one on a decent mould. A polished belly version would be the cherry on the cake.

Nice model. That one is produced on the revised, modified mould of around 2008, it appeared when AV400 started; the cradle mount was superseded by slotted wings, removing the seam, and the vertical/horizontal stabilisers were improved/fixed. This mould was very short-lived, produced under the AV400/IF400 label (not sure if there were others), and it has since completely disappeared. Very little was produced on it as the bulk had already been done on the cradle mould, which is a shame. The change came too late at the time. It was never revived since the Witty factory liquidation in 2014, and it appears that Johan Chan has only resuscitated the earlier original BB400 cradle mould, so it looks as though that other seamless mould is now lost and wasn’t acquired by him in the liquidation sale of said factory, years ago. It was either destroyed or had been owned by someone else, as some of the very last examples of 1:400 B.741/2 models made in the Witty factory (Pan Am & JAL, 2013 releases, under the “Witty Wings” brand) were again produced on that earlier, original BB400 cradle mould, not the modified version as seen in your photo above of the LAN Chile.

I have a Landor B.741 (IF400) on that improved seamless mould, and it is very nice.

Still love the original BB mould, though, and am very happy that it survives.

That one is tough. Found it myself last year. The only original JAL delivery 747 that was made with a polished fuse in 1:400 thus far. The subsequent Witty version from 2013 is also impossible, that one had a silver painted belly (and 10 upper deck windows, I think?) So yes - another very welcome suggestion to give collectors like yourselves, another chance.

Does anyone know if it is actually a 747 cause all the talk about it is confusing me a bit.

It's nice that we are getting a new 747sp mould as it's an aircraft that hasn't had much attention in recent years.

Of all the 747s varients, I'd quite like to see a new 747-400 as the offerings we have at the moment aren't the best and it appeals more to my 2010s era of collecting

I think it's a no brainer that all the clues point to a 747 being done. Funny how this 'seems to appear' conveniently after NG's announcement of the SP being done! When you've been collecting models for so many years, some things are just soooo predictable!! Lol!
Anyway, not if ( but when) they release this 747, the big test for me will be to see if 1) aerials are added ( if it's a certain manufacturer,I somehow doubt it!) 2) see if the nose cone will be added ( be good with static stripes but somehow doubt it!) and 3) lets see if they can actually nail the GE CF6 engine because IMHO, no one has managed to do this accurately except for Dragon and the only GJ 747 (strangely) which was the TransAmerica 742 that came out years ago. I may be wrong but I think I'm right! 😉

The 727-100 is such a classic airplane and the previous AC 727-100 releases were fantastic. I would love to see AC release this one again!! I've been dreaming about this for some time!!

If only......

Probably going to be some Russian airliner or something on Adrian's wish list. Maybe an EMB-120 in 1/400 scale? Very little material needed but can charge $40 a pop = small size and large $ impact!

Hoping it's a tu-204/214 as we've yet to see one in 1/400. It would also be awesome to see some smaller regional airliners have an update.

Does this mean I'm not getting the full set of Western Pacific schemes?

There are many 727-100s that can be done. A sampling:

I got it - it's the de Havilland Canada DHC-7. Andrew paying homage to a great Canadian product. Game Over! Doug

Absolutely! This is the Big Bird one I missed out on and would definitely buy this one - a real classic!

No you’re definitely doing “something big” as well, I am sure of it 😮✈️👍

If there is a B.727-100 back in the line-up too, then that is a lovely “little” added bonus 👏👍 Let’s wait and see...

Very much so, it is a real classic and I would be adding this one too. That little bit of footage there is pure nostalgia. How smart do all those AF classics look? Brilliant stuff.

We're used to you throwing in 'red herrings' when we have already hit the nail on the head. All that remains to be discussed is liveries that will sell and those already done, so not wanted?

So people who weren’t collecting 15 years ago be damned, as long as you get the ones you dictate are worthy??

Some of those original releases from 2005-2007 are impossible to find, especially for anything less than $100 USD. Many of those liveries already done are absolutely still wanted. That is to say, wanted by many, not wanted by one.

That’s what collecting is all about - collecting when available!

LIMITED EQUALS COLLECTIBLE

Stamp collectors don’t whine for re-releases and neither should diecast aircraft collectors.

No Re-Releases Please!

The heck with that thinking!

Re-releases of hard-to-find models, please! Transpac is absolutely correct.

But let's be sure our moulds have the right parts. "BB Mk 3"'s BB-mould KLM delivery-livery 747 has fat broom-handle aerials. The correct original aerials, please.

Patience is the key - every and all early releases will eventually be re-released, in higher, more exact detail, and at higher prices than those original releases, but at a lower cost than currently charged for those originals - win, win. Doug

Stamp producers aren’t a for-profit, consumer-goods enterprise. To suggest they’re motivated by the same economic goal is absurd.

Besides, re-releasing the same livery with a different tail-number, doesn’t at all diminish the scarcity of the original tail number release. It will, however, lower the price. Which seems to be your - rather bizarre - primary concern and motivation.

Absolutely. If those South African 747’s are a preview of what’s to come, then I eagerly await what’s to follow. They look great!

Can anyone remember what the last Aeroclassics 747 release was ? Was it the Aer Lingus delivery scheme duo ?
