Default YesterAirlines Youtube Video Reviews

Hi All. Ok so I thought I'd try something different. I've had a Youtube account for years now but not done much with it. I see a lot of rubbish on Youtube so I thought I'd try some short videos to try and educate some of the young'uns that prefer that platform.

The idea is this doesn't take me very long. If it takes me hours to make a video then it's not worth the effort. So please bear that in mind when watching I'm not editing out everytime I make a minor error. Talking, holding the ipad and moving the model is also something of a challenge I'm yet to fully master!

Anyway I'll see how it goes. This could be the first of many reviews, or not.

The first subject is the Northwest Airlines Douglas DC-9-51 N774NC from Aeroclassics. Check out the video here:

Nice review Richard. This model was one of my long awaited, high on the wish list models. Yes, the red color on this model is disappointing. They should have used whatever red they used on the baby buses. But beggars can't be choosers and the chance of some other manufacturer coming up with a -51 Nine and releasing a Bowling Shoe is probably close to the probability of AeroClassics releasing a C-141B. The model itself is great and the window placement for my aging eyes is not going to bother me. Having pretty much "commuted" on this aircraft for a period of 2 years, this model is a keeper and sits right next to the final livery -51 and other NWA models.

Cheers. I mucked about a bit at first but the format gives the review some structure and helps me think about what I want to say.

Really like the reviews, and agree with the others that it's nice that it follows your other formats. Great to see the nice use of other models from other manufacturers for comparisons esp in video format.

My only constructive criticism (and i'm no expert!) but a little bit of fine tuning of the camera work is needed, the juddering of the camera is a little frustrating. Doesn't detract from the fact the content is good, but it is frustrating.

Keep up the good work, looking forward to the next video .

On Youtube there are not a lot of good channels that do reviews in detail. I highly appreciate your reviews, both on modelairliner and now on Youtube. It helps a lot. Keep up the good work!

Well done. In photography, lighting is (almost) everything. Is it possible to get a bit more light in there on the subjects? That'd really make them pop.

Yeah that's because I'm holding the ipad. A stand is on the way!

Not easily. I need to keep the videos easy to make so if I start having to create special setups or buy lighting the videos are going to become untenable quickly.

This one's not strictly a review as of such but another look at the sample A350 that NG sent me a few months ago now. As I understand it a new diecast sample will be on its way to NZ soon:

I guess I don't have to wait on GJ to release a DL A359 on their new tooling. How is it that NG can keep cranking out brand new models, but we see GJ reverting back to older moulds?

I want to ask how do you get your youtube video to appear embedded in this forum?

When I post the link its just the link itself

i add the [youtube] tags and it's still no show.

Another nice review. I've been eyeballing that United Tristar for a while. I already collect about 4 different united schemes. I've avoided the rainbow scheme for a while because it seems like in order to acquire a proper fleet you must pick models from a variety of manufactures and when I see fleets of the US "rainbow" or Saul Bass fleet scheme, they always look different (different cheatline widths/fonts, and big differences in color). Perhaps it should be a complement to my other Tristars rather than locking me into searching here and there for a variety of models from different manufacturers in order to fill out anther fleet. Thanks again.

Cheers Doug that is the idea. Try and reach and educate a younger audience if possible. Those who don't frequent the forums much. So much of what is on Youtube is rubbish.

What really stood out on the United L-1011 video were the vibrant colors of the stripes on the NG, especially compared to the Dragon Wings version. And I do believe the engines have now been corrected, look forward to receiving mine for a close look. Great video, thanks for all the effort you put into this hobby so we all can learn and share. Happily Aeroclassics direct received a few more of these SAAs. Glad I was able to pick one up as I missed out on the astonishingly quick sell out of them the first go around. Looking forward to having mine in hand. Thanks as always for the review video!

Hi All. As you may have noticed my detailed reviews at modelairliner.com have paused. This is due to Wordpress updating the site and breaking it. Hopefully it will be repaired at some point.

In the meantime the video reviews continue with my 67th NG Models 757:

I really don't understand why there is no consistency in the colours applied by Aeroclassics to two different models in the same airline livery? I have mentioned this several times to Andrew, asking if he is keeping a Pantone Database on colours for each airline, as models are make correctly first time? No response, so we have different shades of red for Northwest Airlines, etc. It seems when a new model is made in the livery used correctly on a previous model, no reference is made to that and they start from scratch each time?

This review's been hanging around in the backlog for a while now but NG haven't been making enough L-1011s for my liking even though they're excellent:

Sorry I can't say Allegheny either. In English everywhere else Pied is said Pie'd and Pee'd means to do a tinkle
