Smile Re: About TU-134

Well, mine just arrived in the post about 20 minutes ago.

All I can say is, well worth the wait!

Just a note of caution to those who are about to get theirs, be a little careful when peeling out the plastic protective sheets in the cradle. The model has some very delicate cranked VHF antennae above and below the fuselage. If anything like mine, they are fixed nice and firmly, but you can never be too careful.

This is my first Panda model and it is superb! Photos below.

NEXT!!

They’re hard to get now... what continent do you want it to be shipped?

I got mine from Waffle Collectables. Needless to say I pre-ordered as soon as it was announced. I get the impression that it was so popular that the pre-orders outnumbered the initial batch that arrived. So they were snapped up immediately on a first come first served basis. More are due in, which is why it is still listed as pre-order. I assume the same is true for other vendors.
It certainly appears to be far more popular than certain correspondents on this forum would have had you believe in the past. Hopefully this spurs Panda on to do more. Many more!

Good luck with getting yours!

I also got it from Waffle Collectables, like others, I had also per-ordered it as soon as it was listed.

I must say I'm now very curious to see the upcoming Air Koryo releases as they will be featuring the 'solid nosed' Ty-134B and A2/5 refits. I'm assuming this is a separate fuselage mould. I guess we'll see!

I wonder what they'll do next?

Hello again... after an enforced absence dealing with real life crap - I come back to see this little beauty, and I blame you for arm-twisting me into buying it..)
My collection is a little slimmed down, and in my new abode, only some can be displayed - but it will definitely join the Russian shelf.

Anybody know if there are any future plans for releases? What airlines?

Ordered via engtaobao a couple of months ago. Still showing as "ordered". I actually got them to switch my order to another Chinese dealer showing 9 examples in stock. Last I checked it was reduced to 3 in stock and still no change to my "ordered" status. I wonder if some dealers are awaiting a restock or something ?

This is all rather strange, released in July and indeed some people received their orders late July, but AviationRetailDirect (ARD) in London seem to think it is still pre-order as they told me today it is "not yet released".

Has any UK collector received their's yet?

They will sell by the boatloads in the UK, if any ever get here.

I have the feeling that Panda may have seriously underestimated demand for this model. The initial batch that went out in July seems to have been snapped up at a rate only rivalled by some Aeroclassics limited releases.

I hope for the sake of all collectors who missed out on this initial run that Panda gets its act together and can satisfy all the current pre-orders soon, as it really is a beautiful little model. The fact that it is still up for pre-order suggests that there will be more to come, so fingers are crossed for all of you.

Come on Panda, get it into gear!

Going for £97 on Ebay!! I would buy it if Iknew it was going to be the only one released, even at that extortionate price.

Yes that would be handy. I'm a little annoyed that the Taobao shop I ordered from said it had 9 in stock at the time, then when I enquired later as to the delay it was still claiming to have 3 of them. But still no progress on my "ordered" online status several weeks further on.

Still waiting for ARD to advise me when they are in. I guess on 'the slow boat from China'?

I wonder how long it will be before Panda release another European airline one, as no news from them regardng the next one only Air Koryo?

Well mine's is coming direct from China and it's not in stock yet either. I suspect a second batch may be under manufacture, either that or we're missing out on this one.

Panda aren't NG. Their communication is rubbish and they appear to barely speak English. I wouldn't read too much into their silence, they don't seem to actively check the forum and when they do it is just to drop a line in not to have back and forth.

They have also been unreliable and not producing models to their past timetables for more than a year now. Something has definitely changed at Panda and although the Tu-134 is welcome they are not going to use it properly.

They announced those 2 will be delayed some time ago. They are the only models they still haven’t released for shipping, hopefully they’ll finish them before the end of the year.

I have the sad feeling these will never see the light of day.

No reason other than I feel it in my bones.
I don't think every order will be fulfilled anyway.
But that is based purely on no information whatsoever

I just find it so exceptionally odd that Panda would go through the lengths to develop this mould, get it so right, produce one single run of 134s, and then, nothing. I know this has happened atleast once before with Retrojets/Retro Models, whatever it was. But it's just bizarre.

I also would have expected more frequent use odf this mould.

Didn't they say in an other thread that they still need to catch up with production after having troubles earlier this year which massively affected the Tu-134 releases. My order for the Aeroflot is still listed as backorder, so I still have hope.

Panda seem to have had a rougher 2020 than many of the other manufacturers. While this may delight some, I'm hoping they recover soon for the sake of more 134s.
Their first outing was an absolute gem.
