Default General question: CX models

I would like to know what is so special that JCWs CX models only are sold "under the radar"? Which manufacturers sell them regularly?

i dont think anyone has licensing to do them i believe. much like Korean Air.Can someone verify this. I think these 2 airlines are a bit more aggresive about their branding than other airlines when it comes to using it without permission.

Phoenix always put their CX and Korean releases in boxes with sceneries and no artwork of the plane itself Did Herpa have a deal one time producing Cathay models though

It does have to do with licensing, sort of. While a majority of models are not licensed by the airlines, most airlines don't seem to care. There are exceptions to this: EasyJet and Cathay Pacific come to mind, so the model makers are forced to release these models "under the radar" to avoid the airlines' lawyers.

CX sells models of their aircraft online. plane737: Herpa produced models for CX a number of years ago, but I don't know if they still do. Here's a link to the online store. They've dramatically reduced the number of models they sell online. There was a time when there were pages of them!!

I remember those Herpa-produced 1/400 scale models. Anyone remember the A330 with undersized engines?

I sure do Harvey. Either 1:500 scale engines or 1:400 A340 engines on a 1:400 A330. Disgraceful!
Herpa also did a large number of 1:500 models for CX too

!! I remember the discussions were that they used A340 engines on that model. But you bring up an alternative view. 1/500 A330 engines....hmm.

I remember the Phoenix version of B-LAD always went for a higher price on eBay because of the engine size issue. Then AeroClassics got in the A330 business and set a higher standard for what we collectors could expect, and AeroClassics CX models were always hard to find and hard to afford! The good ol days of collecting!

The Herpa inflight models are so-so and wonky looking compared to the Aeroclassics releases. I wonder if airlines are that protective of their brands as most of them are reeling economically now.

Most of the manufacturers are all making CX behind.
