I'll wait for photos, but if the USAir DC-9-30 and Western DC-10-10 look good, they're definite, and probably both the Ethiopian passenger 707 and the PLUNA 707. A wide variety of types and regions, and I love heavy on classics!

Pluna 707 and Western DC-10. The more DC-10's the better.

Fine choices. The exact same three I had my eye on, as well.

Echoing everyone else, I'm also waiting for photos of the real things, before I push any order button.

Why, WHY, do they keep painting the tails silver, when they should be bare metal?!?! How frustrating. Would have loved that Western DC10, but I'm afraid I'll have to pass on that one.

At first glance, it looks like the 'too low' cockpit window printing issue on the DC9 is [hopefully] resolved.

Hmm. I might end up getting the Western DC10 anyway, a bit begrudgingly. Not a fan of the silver-painted tail, but otherwise looks great.

But not on the 727s

The tail also doesn't match up with the fuselage on the PLUNA 707 - bunch of wallys.

Anyway a decent selection as always. I'll get at least 5. There is also an Ethiopian Cargo 707 but Waffle has sold out of it already:

Some lovely classics in that lot - I’ll go for the TAP 727 & US Air polished DC-9 myself. I’m sure Adrian will be very happy to see that Ethiopian 707! It’s funny that the polished US Air Nine should show up this month, as that was one I was trying to find recently and was really hoping would be produced again ✈️👏👏 The previous version was released eons ago by SMA in a twin-pack. Perhaps the Western DC-10’s were produced on blanks saved from the Hawaiian run a few month’s back?

Love the grey radome on the Western. If I didn't have a Western DC-10 already I'd snap this one up!

Will go for the TWA Starliner, very nice release to go with my Gemini constellation. Thankfully that is it for me as my wallet has been feeling the strain as of late!

I remember the company by the name Blue Box made the TAAG L-1011-500 before, so is it same mould as this Aeroclassics version?

So far: PLUNA 707, USAir DC-9 (2, one for 80's section, one for Rochester section), Ethiopian passenger 707, America West. Note that this time the tail material on the HP plane is painted straight. If it were crooked, I would not have bought it.

Avoided TWA because the red is much too dark.

The painted tail on the Western DC-10 is too much for me. Stop painting the tails!! Bare metal tails must be bare metal, like the fuselage, period.

The DC-10-40's have plastic tails, but the DC-10-30's should all be metal. Unless the tooling was changed??

Admittedly, I don't have any particularly-recent DC-10-30 releases. So, maybe these new DC-10-30 tails are plastic.... can anyone verify??

Ordered the América West 737, the tail logo looks nice and straight , also ordered the USAir DC-9 as the cockpit windshield looks good. I would have ordered more but at being nearly $50 a model after shipping and taxes, I am very picky on printing and would simply be frustrated. But it seems like a good month and see many happy people in this thread, ToddCB

I remember discussing this with someone else in a previous thread sometime ago. I have both the Transamerica/TIA DC-10-30’s from the December releases. The tails are most definitely metal. The -40’s indeed have a plastic tail due to the revised detail difference moulded for that part (bulge in #2 intake). As I suggested above, these Westerns could have been produced on blanks from the Hawaiian run, which might explain why they have the silver painted tails again. It is a pity that they couldn’t be polished just as the AA releases were some years back.

As for the TAP 727-200, there was an almost unique feature on the actual TAP fleet which was marked by a belly in shiny bare metal in front of the wings and a light grey belly right behind the wings. I do miss this remarkable feature on the new AeroClassics’ 727 release, unfortunately. Hard to copy, technically, probably.

Yeah, I noticed that, too.

The 1/400 Phoenix model released a couple of years ago faithfully reproduced that feature.

The TAP Air Portugal 727 seems to still have the almost peach-red cheat line, as opposed to the scarlet red of the real aircraft. This mistake has been repeated on all of Aeroclassics TAP Air Portugal releases in this scheme, including the A343 and, sadly, the much-anticipated L1011.

Thank you, Andrew for the USAir DC-9-30....when I was traveling or spotting on the US east coast in the 80's, I saw those bare-metal workhorse beauties. I didn't appreciate them then the way I do now.

Hoping for more USAir to come, say white-top 727-200 and Piedmont hybrid 727-200!

Jim

I have become quite a fan of the Allegheny/US Air Quad/Triple red stripe scheme myself, and have built up a modest collection of these little jets thus far. I love both the polished and white-top versions. I’ve recently nailed down an elusive Aeroclassics B.727-100 in the white-top scheme, from 2005 vintage, and would thoroughly welcome a -200 to go with it! ✈️👍

The Ethiopian & PLUNA B707s will be coming to me, hopefully.

The white stabiliser on the Ethiopian B707 looks smart. It is prototypical?

As for the USAir registration number, I noticed it before I ordered it, but it’s so hard to read them against the bare metal that I gave it a green light, but annoying non the less. Passed on the Pluna because of the stripes not meeting the tail properly, very annoying.
