I feel like these Aeroclassics hints threads are announced way, way too far in advance.

These hints were announced before new years, and the thread ran out of steam by the 31st. Now it's a week into 2020 with no actual announcement, and no end in sight.

Compared to the NG thread, where their "hints" thread started on the 2nd, and the announcement was made only one day later. I have to imagine that's better for business; get people's excitement up, they'll place a large order only a day later. Versus this thread... drop a few hints, then wait a few weeks. People lose excitement, lose interest. Less likely to part with their money.

Other thoughts/opinions??

A fair assessment. Not only are the models actually announced very quickly, NG are happy to engage and discuss the releases and future plans. In addition the "hints" give more of a clue to what is actually coming rather than just a vague "N" or whatever.

Still, maybe the AC models will be announced this weekend. here in the UK, the announcement seems to come about midnight on a Friday.

Anyways, hopefully wont be long now before we know and can discuss the releases on offer...

My thoughts: we once had real (and really funny) ‘hints’ threads here on DA.C - those times are long gone, though. Apart from NG, there aren’t no hints’ thread anymore; just a/c types plus country registration codes... wow, what an innovation! I’m not tempted.

We've been doing it this way for many years, on a different forum, and the thread over there is still going strong. Today is only the 8th, and we usually never announce before the 10th.

So everything continues to go as per normal. Not really interested in what others do, since we are the leaders, and not the followers.

I think “we’ve been doing it this way for many years”; “so everything continues to go as per normal”; “not really interested in what others do”, were all mottos used by Blockbuster, BlackBerry, Kodak, etc.

Not exactly something to hang your hat on.

Stop stirring again Matt.

I and think others enjoy the hints threads whenever they are started. Andrew responds to them when he is ready and we are aware of approximately when that will be.

Yes, how right you are! Seeing as how people enjoyed them for two (2) whole days!!! Before their interest was either lost, or diverted elsewhere.

There is no such thing as a future hint thread from any manufacturer. Though the intent is there when first started, they always morph into a long drawn out useless multi page “I Wish” thread...everyone wishing said manufacturer make some oneoff obscure plane that means so much to them and very little to anyone else...you have one manufacturer on this forum who actively participates (all the others did at one time too) and appeases everyone here by saying yes to anything and everything requested winning everyone over, but not a good long term business plan ... I see one online retailer sitting on a ton of 757’s....

I actually agree with you. It’s baffling to me some of the complete nonsense suggestions that are indulged, that inevitably collect dust on the retailer shelves.

Capitalizing on consumer hype and excitement is a marketing art form. Some companies do it well (Apple, among others). Catching your customers when they’re excited about a new product, leads to quick and large purchases. But give them weeks to calm down?? They’ll have time to think about it, evaluate alternatives, and be more rational with their money. Leading to fewer and less-value purchases for the producer.

Strike when the iron is hot. Create consumer hype, and quickly give them the proverbial “add to cart” button. Don’t create hype, then let it cool back down to room temperature.

Eventually in time and it may be awhile, the collectors who are the most critical will find faults with the latest manufacturer, despite their popularity, will start posting and complaining too much, and then that manufacturer will say the heck with this nonsense and disappear from further forum participation.

Actually, GARUDAROD from GJ used to do great hint threads several years ago. Those were actual hints that we had to crack. Prevented all of us from morphing the thread into a wish thread. What happened to him?

That sounds familiar. Were they some sort of verse or rhyme type thing?

yes..but his clues were very far fetched, I knew the releases ahead of time and I could not even match the answers to the clues half the time!

Seriously, to believe that guessing and wishing could be clearly separated is naive and is taking the fun out of the hobby.

Simply skip the threads, no one forces you to read them.

I enjoy obscure suggestions. If you don't just enjoy Gemini Jets' monthly offerings, which are the same mainstream airliners again and again.

Is that a tacit admission that all previous releases were 'not as excellent'??

I'm guessing the US/China trade war and tariffs are to blame. Otherwise, I'm not sure what else would explain a 20% price increase in a single month.

Far fetched, most definitely!! But the threads didn't morph into wish threads. There was one time I was able to crack his hints instantly. Each hint was a far fetched sentence. But the first letter of each word was capitalized, and those letters spelled out the reg#s.

Oh well, models will get released each month regardless.

I just saw that too. Holy crap! I guess NG also set the new standard for pricing of these models too.

Are we allowed to know what these releases are then. The above posts about pricing suggests that they have now been announced - but where?

Has this ever been done? Just discovered it yesterday and really love the colours...Pride Air B.727-200. A very short-lived US domestic carrier, from the mid-80’s. Probably too obscure, but really like the snazzy cheatline!

From the bottom, it looks like a Korean Air 727-200, with a purple stripe and blue top added above!

...thought it looked familiar! The white belly meeting the pale grey cheatline; all it needs is the sky blue section to continue all the way to the top; it's a dead-ringer. This is like an exotic version of it. Love the Korean Air colours too - still unchanged after 35 years or so Must be a record!

We've done more for this hobby than most, so I find your comments quite laughable, and completely out of order.

What exactly is wrong with the Tristar 500 mould?

Move the nose gear slightly forward and make it overall 'taller' and it's good. I'll leave the antennae debate for others. Oh and I have several of your 500's btw.
