Default Gemini Jets United Airlines Boeing B737-300 N327UA

Anyone want to post pics if you have it. From Waffle's pics the printing looks comical. Cockpit windows, U and E in titles, and the tail logo looks angled but that might be accented by the entire model squatting back.

Disappointed in first look after waiting. Hoping Aeroclassics can do the Large Titles justice to go along with their Small Titles version.

Hadn't seen the Waffle photos yet. Dear Lord, that's bad.

I think it's unfortunate that these classic releases have been done as 737-300's, instead of 727-200's. Would have loved to have both the Western and the United on the GJ 727 tooling. Not to mention, the 727 is still clearly on GJ's radar, given how there's no less than 3 planned releases on the 1:200 side. But, presumably, nothing on the 1:400 side.

Aeroclassics doesn't have access to 737-300 tooling anymore. It was discussed in a few threads from months (or years?) back. Unfortunate, though, given how many 737-300's could still be done (United large titles, just to start).

Aww nuts. I recall a thread about the 721 but not the 733. NG Models please pick up the white courtesy phone.

Although the windshield is printed too high the model doesn't look that bad in person. Here is photo that I've just taken of the 737 on my layout.

Much appreciated though that's the same high angle Gemini uses in promos. Tends to mask things. Still curious about a side view like Waffle has and if it sits way nose high like it appears because something ain't right.

Yes I just checked the photo and that’s pretty poor placement of the cockpit windows

Hmmm. Ciderman can you post some more photos from the side? That does look pretty dreadful. I was really hoping to get this model and the Western they did before hand was ok.

I can't abide cockpit misplacement it is my no 1 gripe as it ruins the entire model usually.

This was my favourite United livery. I also really liked the final United with the Tulip. I will likely get this anyway. Hopefully the entire run is not like this.

I gues this was another one of the models on their older mould?

Here is a comparison to my older GJ 737-300 release:

Glad I nabbed the Aeroclassics version a couple of years ago, along with the Delta widget.

It seems that sometimes when there are cheatlines involved that need to be printed underneath the cockpit windows, the cockpit window placement ends up getting jacked up. E.g. American Fokker 100, Piedmont 767-200, Delta 757-200.

Here are some better side on photos I found plus the artwork they used.

I really can't decide whether I can stomach this model in my collection. It's not just the cockpit. The tail logo is clearly not printed horizontal to the tail top and the whole model has a nose high attitude. The U and E of United aren't correct either (they're wrong on the artwork too) but that is a common issue with this livery. Aeroclassics has made that mistake before too.

Mine arrived today. The colors are good, but the cockpit window printing as noted is off. And I thought, "Wow, that tail logo is so crooked, did Aeroclassics' factory workers print it?"

I won't send it back, but I'm not happy. Will wait for photos in the future. If Gemini is actually willing to make an occasional classic, I don't want to discourage them--but want them to get them right. So I'll wait for photos in the future.

As someone primarily focused on 80s and as infrequently as the subject is addressed this one was a must. Such a shame. Confirms my initial observations. Cockpit angle and frame thickness give it that real 25 year old Schabak look and tops the list of faults for me. The previously released WA 733 is a tail squatter hence not ordered, but at least the printing appears to be decent.

Used to preorder sight unseen, then took to ordering multiples due to quality issues, now I just wait although I did preorder the JC Wings AA 727.

The crooked tail logo thing seems to be a GJ situation right now. The BEA A319 by Gemini has a crooked tail logo too and when you put it side by side with the aeroclassics version, the AC printing is way better.

Here we go:

The cockpit windows are too high and the tail logo is slightly off but I seem to have received one of the better examples from this batch.

Yes your one looks pretty good in terms of the overall build.

Thank you. What an enigma. In this image it doesn't look nearly as horrendous as the Waffle pics. Yes the cockpit window is still obvious and a sore spot but the other faults (titles, tail logo, squatting) don't seem as bad.

This old mould is actually pretty decent. JC didn't produce a new 737-300 mould, did they?

Just got my UA B733 in, and tail logo looks to be placed just about between Richard's and Ciderman's examples. Too small of details for me to really care. I really like this model.

I guess I didn't know I wanted this model until I saw the announcement. Reminded me of the few years I lived in ATL, back when Delta AND Eastern both ruled that huge airport. My parents were (and still are) loyal United flyers. So our travels in and out of ATL were always on United, and I remember we always flew on Saul Bass B737-300s out of there. And the United gates were located at the very far end of the last terminal farthest away from the main terminal. Those were the days this model reminds me of. Thanks GJ!

This was originally just going to be a few lines about my version of the model now it has arrived (the photos I posted above are from Skywings shop). Anyway it has turned into basically a full-on review. I am not very happy with the model. Do Gemini just ****-up the few models of their's I want to buy or is it a bigger issue?

Anyway here are my thoughts:

Thank you Richard. First impressions confirmed. What a mess. Spot on review and concur with wanting all manufacturers to succeed. It's not even about the $35-$40 bucks. Guys please take my money but this I wouldn't have free of charge it's just that ugly. A decent printing job on a fair mold should have been a slam dunk for Gemini. Was really looking forward to this complimenting the NG 757 from the same period as well. That head on shot in your review is... wow.
