Default The NG 747SP preview and Heathrow 'Heathrow Exclus

Just picked up my exclusives and had a look at the development mould for the SP. Still some tinkering to be done and it will be done too, you'll see where. Also a nice chat with Keith, who's manning the stall. Plenty of interest among the punters in these. ARD have some of the 757's too.

Back at the hotel now with my stash, Air Canada 744 exclusive edition, Air France A340 World Cup '98, Air India/Fly Globespan 767 all by Dragon Wings and £10 each, plus Unboxed Herpa Wings 400 Air India Tristar 500 series, also £10. As well as the new NG's of course. Off to LHR now to see the BA retro Negus 747 arrive at half two(ish).

They once again did a magnificent 757. I like the Air India 1011 aswell.

As you said, some work to do on the SP -the nosecone needs some treatment... But better wait for the official announcement before nitpicking too early.

Thanks Al for posting these pics, shame I couldn’t be there this time, that SP sample is looking good but definitely in need of refinement, the nosecone is off for definite, needs to be a more delicate, gradual and flatter outward curve there, and the pylons need some more work too. Wings and tail look good, as with the fairings. A very positive start though I’d say. Further detail pics/close-ups will help with further analysis/scrutiny. Nice haul there mate! Enjoy your afternoon spotting 😉👍

Thanks for coming to our table.
747sp is just a half-way sample, we are still revising and perfecting some details.

I wasn't sure if the pylons couldn't do with being a bit smaller ?

I went to see Kieth at your table but sadly he didn’t have the BA 757 Romania tail. I hope it’s one you plan to do.

Got see that gorgeous Negus 747 too. First one I've seen in this livery since 1984. Yes I know they said 'British' on them back then...

They only got them today for the show. I don't think they will appear on the site until they know what inventory they have left.

Man.. I started collecting in 2015, and the 1:200 was a no brainer for me. But if I started today, and had NG made an American Airlines DC-10, I’d probably be knee deep in 1:400 scale.

When you're back North of the Border, favour of posting the BA models in your usual hangar diorama?

Yes there were three Open Skies liveries. The first one, using an ex BA 757, was done in the silver text and that's what Gemini Jets recreated. After a while the French boutique airline L' Avion was absorbed into the Open Skies branding but with a purple text and silver engines. The purple text was in reflection of L' Avion's all purple livery.

Finally the purple and silver gave way to 'BA Blue' before the airline itself gave way to IAG's new loco project 'Level'. The 757's of course were moved on.

F-HAVN in purple Open Skies text and in it's previous guise before IAG bought it's AOC out for future use.

Had a nice chat with Keith on the NG table. I was expecting news of further new moulds and not just the 747SP, but guess we will have to wait?

Great show and absolutely packed with traders and punters. Picked up my haul from ARD then went on to find an SMA Frontier 737 for £15!!!

Good to see you again Adrian, I hope you and the good lady had a great day?

I know that as of last week I was 60, but thought we'd spoken about the NG Model plans for 2020, the A350, 741, 742 and the development of the Russian mould (TBC), all roads lead to LGW2020!!

Yeah it was pretty dingey but at least the morning fog had lifted. The weather was exactly the same on my last visit in September 2003.

Interesting neighbourhood though.

Jesssuus, really?! Sorry to jump in on your thread, you don't even know me...guess I'm just getting anxious to sell my entire 1:200 scale collection and go with 1:400! I could be way off, but my hesitation is that looking at 200 scale is like viewing the pics in this thread on my 15" macbook retina, compared to 400 scale which is like looking at my iPhone (Hi, Apple corp.)

No problem Harvey, I hope you pick up the 757's and also hope that 2020 finally brings that Starlifter too. I used to see them as a kid at Prestwick and definitely will buy the model if it appears.

Hah! Wouldn't that be something! Not holding my breath though...

Is that a Concorde in the last photo you posted? Must be an old photo or a Concorde is on display?

We'll see, and that's a pic I took today. Concorde G-BOAB never left Heathrow and resides at the BA Engineering base,. They shunt it around from time to time.

Do I see a little spoiler here?? A350 mould is definitely interesting.. Would make it a lot easier to get my hands on a quality A350!!

Also, on the topic of shows, does anyone know is the TAS Manchester fair is going to be on next year?

The 757’s look great. The 747 definitely needs work, glad this is only an early sample. Could be the lighting, but I would say the lower forward fuselage does need to be reshaped, along with the nose cone area. I’m sure it will look great when done. The previous 737, 757 and L-1011 fuselages are perfect. As well as the other moulds are quite excellent, so NG definitely know what they are doing.. ToddCB

I know that as of last week I was 60, but thought we'd spoken about the NG Model plans for 2020, the A350, 741, 742 and the development of the Russian mould (TBC), all roads lead to LGW2020!!

Do I see a little spoiler here?? A350 mould is definitely interesting.. Would make it a lot easier to get my hands on a quality A350!!

Also, on the topic of shows, does anyone know is the TAS Manchester fair is going to be on next year?
AV400 have a good enough A350 mould so I wouldn't see a point for ng making another one, guess it wouldn't hurt to have that ng quality on an A350 I suppose.

Had a nice chat with Keith on the NG table. I was expecting news of further new moulds and not just the 747SP, but guess we will have to wait?

Great show and absolutely packed with traders and punters. Picked up my haul from ARD then went on to find an SMA Frontier 737 for £15!!!
Hi Adrian

On diecast forum I queried the Tu134, NG's reply to me was this: -

"Regards the Tu134, we will give you a result in 2020".

That sounds hopeful, though of course 'a result' can be interpreted as the 'production of a tu134 mould' OR 'a decision either way about creating it'. I think or hope they mean the former.

They also said they hope to release another new mould within the next 2 months.

Would love to have come down for the Model Fayre, problem is if I spend £30-£40 on petrol then its less to spend on planes (:-. Regret not going now, it sounds like a great day.

Picked my 3 up from ARD today and like the others that have posted they're fantastic models. Love the "Poppy - pause to remember" one.

If anyone is after them I think ARD had 3 or 4 sets left on the shelf.

Sean's AA DC-10, I did this twice (1:400 to 1:200 to 1:400 & back to 1:200). I would think hard over switching! The cost factor of 1:200 isn't more in my case as I surpassed the cost of 1:200 by buying many more planes in 1:400. After awhile all these 1:400 planes displayed just look like a swarm of little nats in my opinion!

Perhaps that new mould coming out in two months is the A350 previously mentioned?
