The Aeroclassics 1/400Hawker Siddeley 748 wishlist
Great to see the Aeroclassics Hawker Siddeley HS-748 return. This was the best selling British turboprop airliner after the Viscount and sold incredibly well worldwide as a DC-3 replacement. Now the mould has been resurrected, I'm pretty sure more castings have been run off for future releases other than the Eastern Provincial Airlines model this month.
Therefore here are the most important liveries that I hope will be made:
Skyways of London - the first airline to put the type into service. G-ARMV is seen here at the Farnborough Air Show in 1961 and was the first of a fleet that operated throughout the 1960s, until merging with Dan-Air in the early '70s. Their success was a shuttle service between Lympne/Ashford and Le Touquet, France taking many enthusiasts to the Paris Air Shows.
Aerolineas Argentinas The first overseas airline to operate the type who ordered 12 of the type, operating them between 1962-77, so a 'must have' 'Latin Classic'

Re: The Aeroclassics 1/400Hawker Siddeley 748 wish
For the military collector, a RAF Queen's Flight Andover CC.2 is a no-brainer and very surprised this has not been made in 1/400 by Aeroclassics or GJ/JC or even in 1/200 by GJ.
The British Royal Family had three of them, XS789, XS790 and XS793 and used them extensively for world tours between 1964-87. The delivery scheme had a polished metal belly, However constant polishing to keep these aircraft looking pristine was wearing away the rivets, so the belly was later painted white and the engines red. There were also other minor livery changes, so in effect three models could be made showing the changes

Re: The Aeroclassics 1/400Hawker Siddeley 748 wish
I could certainly go for that Queen's Flight Andover/748 in early 80's livery. Funnily enough Prince Charles & 'Lady' Di went off on their 1981 Royal Wedding honeymoon on one, and as a ten year old watching it on tv, I recall going down to my local model shop the following day to see if they had an Airfix kit of it, they didn't !
I was in the Scottish Highlands last week on a job in Pitlochry for the first time since just before that wedding in 1981, Prince Charles flew in to open the new Pitlochry Festival Theatre in a bright red Queen's Flight Westland Wessex helicopter, whilst the young me was enjoying a summer camp with our Boy Scouts troop in the area.
We had to get all dressed up in our uniforms and form a guard of honour for his arrival. He came over to speak to us and we were all excitedly expecting Lady Diana to show up too, sadly she was elsewhere at the time.
That was 38 years ago, and I still want a model now ! ;-)

Re: The Aeroclassics 1/400Hawker Siddeley 748 wish
talking about HS748, Latin Classics, definitely the Aerolineas Argentina ( 2 versions LV-HGW and LV-HHH ) and LV-HHG from YPF could make a good run for collectors.
LAN CHILE : CC-CEC
Aeropostal Venezuela ( YV-C-AMC ) ... SATENA and AVIANCA ( both deliveries ) for our Colombian collectors ...

Re: The Aeroclassics 1/400Hawker Siddeley 748 wish
I love all the suggestions made in preceding posts for 748s. Mustn't forget good ol' Dan Air either, who had a pretty sizeable fleet once upon a time.
Despite never having been to S.America, I'm a fan of the old legacy airlines from there. So I'd definitely be a buyer of LAN Chile, Aerolineas Argentinas, Avianca, Aeropostal etc.

Absolutely.....also mustn't forget the last big (possibly the biggest) operator of 748s in Britain, Emerald Airways (formerly Janes Aviation) who gathered up an impressive fleet of over 30 of the type from around the world although not all of them were operated at the same time.
Re: The Aeroclassics 1/400Hawker Siddeley 748 wish
I'd buy any of the Emerald Airways ones, would need them for my Liverpool Airport 90s onwards collection criteria. Also any chance we might ever get a BAe ATP mould, BA, MANX, West Atlantic among many others

I flew on the ATP loads and would love to see a mould. In BA terms you could have Landor, and the various Chatham and Uopia tails to boost output as well as the others mentioned. British Midland and Loganair are also options.
