NG Art Lingus L-1011 Tristar.

Nice addition to my Aer Lingus fleet and needless to say, so much nicer than the old AV400 edition.

Nice, I used to have that in 1/200 scale:).

Great looking airplane!

Hi Allen, Sorry for my long absence. Hopefully you like this release.

Is that the recent JC MD-11 in the back there? Looks like the green is a bit off on that one compared to the NG... Great model however! My copy of the NG arrived last week. I'm thrilled with it!

Nice to hear from you again. Yes it's a very good model and sits well with the 757 already released. Perhaps an A330-200 next ? Either EI-DAA, or EI-EWR in 'dot.com' livery. Both of which I've flown on ::cool:

Yes that's the JC release in the hangar. A different green from NG who appear to mastered the slightly bluish hint that appears in the Aer Lingus green. Something I first noticed in the cabin crew uniforms on an 11 hour flight to LAX from DUB some years ago. 11 hours of gawping at pretty Irish ladies in green, aah... :)

Nice. Looks so detailed it could be a 1/200 in the picture.
So although originally a BA machine went to caledonian and leased from caledonian - so not sure if it should belong in the Britsih Airways collection?

I think it qualifies>

Well put it this way, the AV400 release of this in full Aer Lingus colours but with Caledonian titles and Lion Rampant (post 1998 lease) sits amongst my other Caledonian and Landor collection, so yes, I think it qualifies too. :D

I agree that could easily be mistaken for a 1/200 model. Very nice indeed Al. Looking forward to my TWA's!

I got it on eBay a while ago. The guy who makes them does (or did) them in various styles, some with airline branding on them, some without. I haven't seen any recently but here is a thread I started with details.

https://www.diecastaircraftforum.com...gar-model.html

The airstairs are from various Aeroclassics issues over the years, normally supplied as extra pieces with model releases featuring the same airline brand.

The ground foil is an old Air Matt's tile I've had for years and it's all located on the arm of my sofa ! :D

Yes they are very good, the nose shaping is spot on. Looking forward to the Negus pairing next month.

NG please can you address the back engine exhaust ring which you have on both 1 and 2 engines yet you've left out on engine three! Small issue yes, but can't understand why you've left this out!
And before anyone criticises me for being picky, let me just say other than this I cannot fault NG's superb L1011. It's perfect in every other way and I'll be collecting a helluva lot more Tristars. Just please add the ring now! Thanks! :)

Likewise! The artwork for the Negus pair is perfect. I know I’ve mentioned it a few times already, but I’d really love to see a Negus -200 with “British airways’” titles as well. There were only 2 delivered like this in 1980, with a short window of operation before gaining “British” titles, but still would be great to see.

Hello, NGM - any chance you might reveal what future liveries you plan for your various L-1011 moulds? Specifically, I'm looking for the first (of two) Eastern Airlines bare metal -385-1 liveries featuring the broader cheat lines with the windows inside the lighter blue stripe.

Aer Lingus’ livery on the MD11 and L1011 should be the blueish hint green. A few years ago, the blue-green was quietly changed to a more solid green.

Indeed so, and in the case of these two aircraft they would have been operational circa 1998. The new 2019 livery appears to have assumed the bluish tint again.

The Hangar is made by Dave Southam in the UK. He makes the hangars on request in any airline of your choosing and tons of customization. (He's made some super double hangars in the past and some painting hangars as well but its best to contact him directly) Its best to reach him via Facebook where he is selling off his collection. PM me for his details if you'd like one made. He was also on Diecastflier's blog below:

I have collect 86% of all the NG L-1011. Your mold are by far the best in the industry. Thank you for giving so much attention and care to the very neglected 400 scale Tristar market. Will NG consider producing the L-1011 in the original "House" and "Advanced" liveries?

While we're waiting... A year ago, I picked up this Dragon Wings version on eBay for $30. I'll definitely get the New Generation Models version when it shows up, but I have a number of the DW 1011 Tristars, and again, some of the DW moulds still hold up well.
