I second the Transair 707. I'd also be happy to see an F-28 in the same colors. Maybe they could re-release the Pacific Western 737's.

I'll be honest, I jumped the gun when I saw the title and didn't realize I was in the 1/400 section. I immediately thought of their 1/200 707. Regardless, Transair deserves releases in both scales.

I agree with you DashSeven. Both 1:200 and 1:400 for Transair would be a dream come true.

It's the only jet airline that got rolled into Air Canada that hasn't had a single release yet, I believe.

Were Transair a domestic airline? Or flights only to Canada and USA?

I had to dig to find a 1/400 Transair release, but I did find a 737-200. I don't see any others if there have been several. And there are plenty of Canadian airlines/releases that have never been touched.

I was feeling inspired and I just started a thread about Transair in the 1/200 section.

What models have been released previously in Transair colors? The database on D.A.C. only shows the 737-200 regi. CF-TAN.

I'm pretty sure that's it. I believe aklein707 was mistaken in thinking there were several. One is better than none though.

I didn't even look at the database. I scoured the internet trying to find anything I could. But that's good to know! Still, that's a lot of releases to keep track of. I certainly wouldn't hold it against him if he did make a mistake.

But since I've got your ear, aklein707... a Transair 707 in 1/200 is a holy grail release for me. *nudge nudge*

As for those Canadian airlines that haven't been touched - I think many have seen at least one 1/400 release, but there are still plenty that have not - Air Tindi, Central Mountain Air, Calm Air, Nolinor, Chrono, Ptarmigan, Air Creebec, Enerjet, Flair Air, North Cariboo, Summit Air, Swoop, and Perimeter to name a few.

Many more are untouched in 1/200 - Transair, First Air, Air Inuit, Bradley Air Services, a proper Canadian North release (full polar bear/northern lights livery)...

My own thoughts on this month:

Fantastic to see some of the best AC tooling back in use.... 737-200, DC10, DC9, F-27. Great selection, too. While it's not my own collecting criteria, I know the United Mainliner 737-200 is sure to be a hit. Considering the only one currently available on market was plagued by zinc rot, years ago.

The America West 737-200 was a suggestion I made in the "Your Hopes for Aeroclassics in 2019??" thread, back in March. Great to see that one come to fruition! Though, a tad disappointing on the obscure Canadian registration on it.... that exact ship also wore the registration N127AW. So, quizzical choice to go with the C-reg over an N-reg. But, I'm sure I'll probably pick it up anyway.

The Western DC10 is pretty disappointing, though. The registration selected, N910WA, never existed. Western DC10 deliveries skipped from N909WA to N912WA.... ships 910 and 911 were never delivered to Western, nor existed as registrations. But, beyond being a fantasy reg, it looks well done.

Wow....this is an expensive month for me. Waffle's announcement has his own pictures.

Ordered eight. All the DC-10's, UA, HP, BN 737's; Southern DC-9

There's a photo of a Western DC-10 with "spaceship" titles with N910WA listed as reg, on Flickr. But the photo doesn't show the reg. I wonder if AC used that photo and didn't check the reg elsewhere?

Hoping to see the F-27 mould out again in the near future, to make some USA Deregulation and Regulation classics, like Swift Aire, Brockway Air, and Mississippi Valley Airlines.

What's the story with the CAL DC-10? Did they have an order that was cancelled - perhaps due to the type's issues? They never actually operated it did they?

I'll get the Condor & Lufthansa F27s, Southern DC-9 and, United 737 delivery scheme. Great selection and also very pleased to see the resurrection of those retro moulds. I hope we will see more moulds brought back into use, that we haven't seen for ages - the Comet, Caravelle, B707, DC-6, DC-7 and DC-8 are all excellent and have plenty of potential.

Slightly disappointed by the Jordanian Tristar being in the same scheme as the Gemini version. I would have definitly bought it if it was in this scheme.

The Fokker 27s are great and will make it into my collection.

It's also fantastic to see the return of the 737-200 and DC-10 moulds among others.

Some very nice retro stuff there. The Southern DC-9 & United Stars & Bars 732 are both definite additions. Happy to see that these early zinc-rot victims (both United 732s) are now being replaced.

Amen to that. I've been scouring eBay for that SMAC United Mainliner 732 for years (literally), and finally, here is the 'new improved' version. You live long enough, everything works out. Thank you AeroClassics. I did have the original SMAC release, but it had early signs of zinc rot, and I unloaded it, and in hindsight, I was right in doing so. I wonder if any of those early SMAC 'decompression' 737s will now start showing up on eBay - wouldn't be surprised. Keep 'em flying, Doug

Wow, yeah that original version came out in late '02 I think, which is eons ago! I can imagine how frustrating it was for collectors to have lost these models to zinc rot, a few may have escaped this fate as I know it was a lottery, some being affected worse than others. Holy grails for sure, these replacements will sell out quick I reckon. I think we'll be seeing a few of the originals on ebay - caveat emptor.

Wow, that long ago? I found a Mainliner on eBay, and I got a decent one. It has some small cracks, and the wings look like the wing flex of a fully-fueled 744 taking off , but it looks pretty good. I'm really happy AC has finally made a Mainliner 737-200. I've wanted one for a long time!

And I loooove obscure 80's / 90's USA Deregulation liveries. Braniff II seems to have had a few

The Western DC-10 and America West 737 appear to have already sold out at Waffle.

Thank you, Andrew, for these terrific classics!!

Yes those were very early SMAC releases. Just checking the records shows that the Mainliner 732 was originally a February 2003 release, and the Stars & Bars was a JetStreamsUSA exclusive in August 2003 Glad you're happy with this latest bunch, I knew these would be right up your street. Thinking about it, I might also have to get the China Airlines DC-10!

Hawaiian DC-10 OH HAPPY DAY!! Been lobbying for this one for years, cannot wait to add one or two, or three!

One observation vs Aeroclassics AA and Transaero. Does the tail of the Hawaiian look to be painted silver versus left as bare metal? Looks different to me.

I have that one and no sign of zinc rot, so won't be replacing it.

Good to hear. As this release is of a different name & registration, it'll make a nice addition to the fleet if you decide to add to it. Plus it has a polished belly, rather than silver paint

No they never operated DC-10s, Richard. Not even on lease.
Two were ordered and allocated c/ns 46921 & 46949. They were built but, as we know, not delivered. Clearly, as the Airliners.net forum thread says, at least one of them was painted in China AL's livery.

C/n 46921 was built in 1975, and allocated US regn N54640 and eventually delivered to British Caledonian (later British Awys) as G-BEBM in Feb1977. After passing through Gemini AC and Das Air, it finished its days with Kelowna Flight as C-GKFA and broken up at Hamilton, Ontario.

Despite its higher c/n, 46949 was built in 1974, allocated registration N54643. Air Siam seems to have taken an interest in the unsold airframe but nothing became of it and it was eventually delivered to British Caledonian (later British Awys) as G-BEBL in Mar1977. After BA service it was intended for Emery Worldwide as N16949 but possibly never used and it went to VARIG Log as PP-VQY. Like its sister-ship, it finished its days with Kelowna Flight as C-GKFB and broken up at Hamilton, Ontario.

What is going on with the crooked tail printing lately? Passed on AWE and ATA 757s last month and now the BNF 737 this month. Too obvious to overlook for my money. Such a shame as the AWE 737 looks fine this month.

Donít Aeroclassics DC-10s have plastic tails? If so, then I guess it would be painted silver. I think they decided to go with plastic tails for the purposes of added accuracy in the moulding.

No - they are all diecast metal on the -10 and -30 series. Have one in my hands as I write, a recently acquired Korean Air Lines KAL example. Definitely a metal tail. The AC dash -40s have a plastic tail though as these required a modification of the separate part in order to accurately capture the difference with the bulbous #2 intake on the nacelle; obviously it was more economic to mould the part from plastic in that instance; I think the only original customers were Northwest Orient and JAL for that variant. All of the AC American DC-10s released had fully polished tails...

Thanks for the clarification, indeed the last one I handled was my Northwest thermometer livery which is a dash 40. I do like the bulbous intake on these variants as well as depicted on the MD-11.

Very welcome - yes I really like that detail too, it's captured so well, a very distinct characteristic on the -40s, looks good on my JAL example too Very happy to see Aeroclassics DC-10s back on the release schedule.

Received my Hawaiian DC-10 yesterday after waiting years to finally have it. Great little model, but I am just wondering why on this polished bird, AC painted the tail section aluminum/silver? Why didnt they leave it bare metal as the real one was, and fitting with how they produced the American DC-10s and Transaero DC-10s?
