Default AeroClassics Speculations for August 2019

With 400SH currently in maintenance, Mata Hari will have to have her report posted here;

B- , B- , TF- , and N N N N N N N N N N N

That'd be N to the 11th power!

Those beauties will be spread over 5 different aircraft types. Sorry Adrian, no props!

Air Atlanta L-1011?
Maybe in Peach Air or Istanbul Airlines livery. There was even one in Iberia livery:

11 different N’s?? Now that’s a fine month.

5 different aircraft types?? Hmm. Not to be a cynic, but I’m going with:

L1011-1
L1011-500
767-200
A32x NEO
737 MAX

I hope I’m proven wrong, though. Would love to see the return of DC9, DC10, 737 classics, etc.

Heres my guess on aircraft types and speculations based on Mata Hari's report:

N - ATA 727-200 and 757 in the Palm Tree Livery

N - TWA L1011, ATA (Palm Tree Livery) American L1011

N - DC9- ValuJet or US Air white/red livery N970VK

TF - Icelandair DC-8-55 TF-FLB or 757 TF-FIO in the older livery (but an Air Atlanta L1011 sure would be neat TF-ABH/AFD)

With the current moulds in use, probably nothing for me! The only TF- reggies I want are an Icelandair B727-100 and Viscount in the Icelandair 'Pegasus' delivery scheme.

3 bingo's....I'm guessing they're the TWA L-1011, ATA L-1011, and Piedmont hybrid 767.

Though I'm hoping one is a ValuJet DC-9!

Same here. It's a pity that nobody is doing any 727-100 anymore. The Icelandair TF-FIE is deeply missed. I could add to your list Icelandair F-27 and DC-4.

OMG is right!! McDonnell Douglas aircraft and Airbuses would be very interesting! Let's get some new engines made so AC can start cranking out DC-8-71s!! Oh, I know GJ doesn't like that suggestion.

Now THAT's interesting! And frankly very good news....so many terrific DC-10's, DC-9's, DC-8's, 727-200's, 707's, A300's to do with Aeroclassics' excellent moulds.

We haven't had many of these recently, so I'm not sure what to expect. The Southern DC-9 is sure exciting. I continue to want:

DC-10's--United in 1970's blue-Star *blue-titles* livery which AC hasn't done; Pakistan International 80's green and gold stripe livery; .

DC-9's--ValuJet; Midwest Express original 80's livery

A300--Laker SkyTrain, Northeastern blue-stripe,

707--Uganda Airlines with 70's all-caps titles, Burlington Air Express 80's livery

DC-8-61/63--Surinam Airways; Capitol Airways 80's livery

727-200-Republic MTM, People Express, People-Continental hybrid, Air Atlanta

737-200 Original AirTran sun-tail 90's livery; Solomons Islands

Jim

On the other hand, again, hoping for ATA 757 delivery colors, Sun Country 727-200, AirTran early 737-200, Midwest Express early livery DC-9, America West early A320... And Continental red meatball 727-200 with large titles which I guess but am not entirely sure nobody hasn't made.

Hopefully some other classics besides 767s and L1011s. Would like to see some variety!

Fingers crossed for a Spirit "Metallic Livery" A319, JetBlue Binary Code A320 would be a welcome addition as well

I remember back when the Vanguards were released with great fanfare. Why did the releases stop with less than 20 total releases? Thought these Vanguards were in hot demand. Tooling broke?

Went to Denver Intl a couple of weeks ago to pick someone up there. Saw a bunch of Frontier tails lined up and now I'm on an AeroClassics Frontier A320 buying binge. Seems A321s are pretty scarce on the Bay and going for more than retail now. Lots more Frontier Baby Buses need to be done. Don't forget about the handful of A319s Frontier has too.

It would be helpful if you actually read the previous posts, before making such statements, such as post #19.

Harvey, after BEA (3 versions), Air Canada, Trans-Canada Air Lines, Merpati, & DHL, there are few others which would actually sell. We can not produce 30 piece runs.
I'm glad those Frontier Airbuses have become a hit for you!!

Well, if there aren't any more actual Vanguard airliners that would sell, and for the sake of stretching out the earnings on the tooling, isn't it time to dip your feet into the fantasy zone?

Why do Braniff A380s and fantasy concordes always command high prices? Oh yeah, and lets not forget the Ferrari 787 which you can only get for stupid prices!! A Braniff Vanguard..... Lufthansa Vanguard..... Fedex Vanguard...... Game of Thrones Vanguard..... Royal Canadian Mounted Police Vanguard..... Range Rover Vanguard..... Oh the possibilities!!

Full disclosure: I don't buy fantasy models.......but others seem to snap them up!!

No, thank you!

I don't recall a Merpati Vanguard being done, so maybe there is hope for at least one more Vanguard release for the future.

Thumbs up Re: AeroClassics Speculations for August 2019

Yeah I would take a Merpati Vanguard, recall seeing one at Heathrow many many years ago.

Good news about the apparent return to real classics

Favourite manufacturers - Aeroclassics ("just like a fine wine, they only get better with age"), also like El Aviador, and NG Models.

According to DIMA, looks like the Merpatis came out in 2001 and a whopping 20 units were made.

Posts #6 & #19 suggest this month will feature NEOs and MAXes. Classic collectors may not want to get too excited in that case. Unless of course AK has something lurking in the smokescreen.

NEOs and MAXes for sure. The other three could very well be A330, A319, and A340, which I don't mind at all. But hope to see something exciting in DC-8, 737-200, A300, or DC-9 flavors.

The most recent DC-8 Super-70 made by GJ was in 2011, so I would doubt they care too much if someone else came along to start making the type.

To your point, it would be a relatively easy modification in model form. The only change needed would be the engine pylons (and the engines themselves, of course). The -71 wings would need additional modification compared to the -72 and -73, but ironically would be exactly like the real thing. Since the -61 to -71 mod took the most time to complete, out of the three variants.

I wouldn't say the 767 market is over-saturated.
But you're right, there is a definate market for some CCCP- regs... Come on Andrew, Il-62!

In which case, those would be on an original mould.

I bought all of the various BEA and BA pax and cargo examples that came out around 10 years ago and they are absolutely exquisite. A Merpati on that mould would be very nice.

That was on the Gen1 mould with hand-applied decals. In my book these don't count. There has never been a Merpati tampo-printed Vanguard made on the current mould and there are three different Merpati schemes that could be made. Also I would think Hunting Cargo and Air Bridge Carriers would sell, especially as there is one preserved in the Brooklands Museum. There was a missed opportunity when the Air Canada Vanguards were released, as Invicta International Airlines initially used the basic Air Canada livery, so just changing the titles and reg. would have been an easy pad-printing change for another Vanguard.(see photo below)
Any in the BEA red square scheme go for high prices on E. Bay, as they really are exquisite and a re-run with different regs might be worthwhile?
