Unhappy How to detach wings holded by super glue

Hi !

what is the best way to detach wings from model being hold by super glue ?

One of my model had loose wing, I used super glue to put it in place but I spotted misalignment too late

I have read that acetone ( nail polish ) is very good for removing the super glue but what about paint of the model - will it hold ?

best regards

DON'T USE ACETONE as it will strip away some of the printing. I have heard citric juice like lemon/lime will soften the superglue. Also sometimes if you soak in warm to hot water or heat with a blow dryer it will soften it enough to separate the parts.

If none of that works get a six pack of Corona Extra for the limes!

Thats a tough one. Was there a lot of super glue used or just a dab?

Please go to page 2 of the Custom Made models section.

Almost at the bottom of the page, check "Removing the landing gear on a blank A 340".
See what I did with a Fokker 27.

Yep - but I also used 'some' force which caused one engine to be glued back after the hassle Hard to tell how much hairdryer helped the cause because I just felt 'pop' and wing was free. It wasn't smooth transition as you would expect from soft glue.

I think it is more appropriate to glue loose parts with 5 minute epoxy, that way you have enough time to adjust the position of the parts.
Keep in mind that Super glue vapors can damage the paint of your model.

Agree, the gel superglue also allows a little extra time for adjustment, but not much.

Even the 1 minute epoxy is better than super glue IMO, and also works better for the 5 minute version for fiddly parts like landing gear.
