This one was announced under the 3rd incarnation of BigBird sometime in 2018.

I have the original release but would have ordered this one if they had reproduced the small dome behind the upper deck.

It has. The first was BB400’s version, PH-BUA ‘The Mississippi’, released in 2005, and the other was the Aeroclassics release, PH-BUB ‘The Danube’, produced in 2008. There was also a Viasa/KLM split colours version made at around the same time.

I might get this one. A 747 classic produced on the former BB400 mould is a rather rare and nostalgic sight these days.

Definitely not from the original 2002-2006 BB400/Your Craftsman days. This was meant to come out circa 2017 I think. It's on the the same BB400 mould but revamped by JC Wings - antenna have been added. They're using the original 'Your Craftsman' name. We've already seen a Baci Alitalia released on this modified mould a while back.

Good news for any KLM fleet builders out there - 3 different registrations in this early scheme have now been made! Also, we've already got 'Nile' in the later 70s 'Blue Top' c/s as well, which is another Aeroclassics rarity.

I see what you mean about that. That printed outline is really annoying. Either model that detail properly or just leave it out - as was done before!

Finally! Possibly the longest pre-order wait I have ever had (and a reason I won't pre-order BB3 models any more).

Looks promising.

Not sure what the big deal is. This model has been made before on more than one occasion.

Doesn't the cheatline and windows look a tad too high on this one?

The 'big deal' is that this livery has been made twice more than ten years ago, firstly by Big Bird in 2005, then and not very well by Magic in 2007, and both completely sold out and very hard to find. Re-releasing this thirteen years later is good for collectors (like me) that missed out on this model first time around and will also be good news for newbies.

That third previous version by Magic (PH-BUB) is a dud. The mould was really awful and hopefully will never be seen again. Blue Box/5-Stars and other dodgy brands produced on it at that time as well.

Blimey, that marks my 1,000th post Spending way too much time on here obviously...

Nice one Al - it is indeed a stunner! Picked that version up myself at the LHR Model Fair back in May Definitely a keeper but still tempted by this latest incarnation!

I'm very doubtful that will happen. I wish they would since BigBird Mark 3 seems to love using the 747 mould unlike JCWings, but even than the only stuff coming out of the JC Factory on time is Gemini, Orange Box "EW", and JCWings Models announced months ago

A reissue of this very hard to find 747 would be great - Air France delivery scheme.

Excellent suggestion Adrian, that one is a tough nut to crack. One of the earliest Aeroclassics releases on that mould, and made in very limited numbers.

I expect NG to release a new classic 747 mould in 2020. Given the fact that many classic liveries were released 15 years ago they could easily reissue many of them. And there are still many classics that have never been done: Boeing 747-257B in Swissair's chocolate livery, a Qantas 747-338 or a KLM 747-306, just to name a few.

Mine has just arrived from 'demographer' in Hong Kong. An excellent model and very pleased with it. Cheat line may be printed a tad too high, but not enough that it bothers me. Now will this be the start of more early and classic liveries released on this mould? I hope so!

I've one minor issue with this model: it doesn't look anything like a 747.

After the obnoxiously year long wait, I finally got mine. And I immediately sent it back!

I was not impressed with paint flaws, thick antennas, the high cheat line, and the dome being reproduced with a black outline. This all made it easy to part ways with this model. I already have the original PH-BUA and the split KLM/Viasa in my collection so it made the decision even easier.

Lesson learned. This is the first and last time that I pre-order a model from JC Wings.
