Default Delta Air Lines Liveries

Continuing my series on the livery histories of major airlines I finish the remaining big 3 of the USA with Delta. For an airline that had largely the same livery for over 30 years there are a lot of variants. Check out the link for the details:

"Despite designing the livery that would effectively carry it through until the end of the century Delta still didn't want to standardise and the DC-9 fleet joined wearing a modified version with the Delta widget on its side"

Jesus dude, ever heard of commas?

For types that wore the Ron Allen livery, you forgot to mention the 777.

Nope never. There we go I've modified just for the super pedantic who are confused by long sentences.

Also added the 777 in the landor page to keep you a happy chappy, if possible

Not the grammar police again. Thought that was a thing only on Wings900 over a decade ago.

Richard, great write up! Thanks for taking the time to put together a nice piece about Delta liveries. I didn't know the current livery took into consideration aspects about Northwest. I was a regular on Northwest for several years and am still peeved about the Delta takeover.

The thing with Delta Air Lines is that all their liveries over time we're great, even the current livery is up to date & it doesn't look dated or boring in any way..

I wouldn't mind a few more Skyteam paint jobs in their fleet. Do any narrowbody Airbus have it?

None; only a few 738ís and 752ís have it.

They do. But the original question explicitly referred to narrowbodies only. See below:

Very nice writeup Rich. Despite my stepdad being a Delta captain (resulting in me flying them exclusively for many years), I confess I'd never noticed the differences in the metal belly shape that you pointed out on the Tristars and other types. More variants to collect!

I only noticed it myself because I was researching Delta's 757s and I found a pprune thread that was complaining how when the 757 was preserved at the Delta Museum it was in the 'wrong' version of the scheme.

Widget livery all day every day for me. Maybe nostalgia, but just love it.

Are we sure that the newest livery is a hat-tip to Northwest, or just serendipity?? I seem to remember the livery was rolled out before the merger was announced.
