New mould, new trial, it really took us a lot of time to do the first batch of Tristars. Because of these products, our whole batch of June have been delayed to middle July.

Will the 787 mould along with the outstanding L1011 mould appear in the next batch. And has the next batch been delayed?

Great model and the amount of details is stunning. Please also feel free to release one 1011 mould in 1/200 aswell. :D

Outstanding! Love the proper wings and nose shape on the -500, fantastic mould. Can't wait for a Delta, United, United/Pan Am hybrid L-1011-500! Finally, something better than the Dragon mould. It only took 18 years!

Great to finally see these made. A mould that was suggested by DAC members and a mould that has inspired interest in the L-1011 from both the collectorate and rival manufacturers. I look forward to future releases too.

Wow. I can’t believe how good those turned out. Outstanding job.

Really nailed all the intricate details of the L1011; the #1 and #3 pylons, the #2 intake, the cockpit windows, etc.

Agreed, these look fantastic. Great to finally see pictures. The detail and accurate profiling around the tail, #2 intake, S-Duct and #2 pylon is spot-on and deserves much praise; as with the correct shape and details on the RB.211 engines & #1 - #3 pylons. The more obvious areas such as the cockpit/nose profile and windows are also very well executed. Nice to see both the correct wings and fairings on the Dash 500, and we’ll be treated to the Frisbee Fairing variants as well on the Dash 200’s/TWA conversions (hopefully!) Well done NG. Well worth the wait and a fantastic start to your L-1011 line 🙂

Does not detract from these models, but taking a look at pictures of both N763BE and EI-BTN, EI-BTN should have numbers on the nose gear doors whereas N763BE (with the suntrips logo on tail) did not have numbers on the nose gear doors while wearing the Suntrips tail logo. Not sure if this was flipped in production, or if there are some pictures of the real things that I missed!

Are there any clearer, in-focus profile shots of the #1 & #3 engines on G-BLUS? I can see why Doug left this one out in his reference to accuracy of the RB.211's; in the photos above it looks like G-BLUS may still have engines moulded with an outward slant, rather than the correct inward slant on the front cowling profile. I was hoping that this had been remedied. Apart from that, all good.

Re: NG Model - 1:400 L1011 Tristar Photographs

I'm so glad we're getting so many Tristars lately since it's my favorite aircraft. I've ordered all of these except the Suntrips hybrid. They look fantastic - NG has definitely captured the look of this iconic plane. At first I thought maybe the BA's cockpit printing still looked a little on the small side compared to the Hawaiian ones? But the more I look at them I think maybe it's just the photo.

Can't wait until these show up on my doorstep! :D

Exactly - I noted the slight rearward slant on the #1 & #3 engines was absent on the prototypes when photographed and reviewed by Richard Stretton. This error was discussed in various comments on the prototypes, and it would appear that the cowl slanting issue was corrected on some NGM L-1011 issues (but not on all?). Knowing the professionalism of NGM, I would expect the correctly very slight rearward angled cowls to be present on all further L-1011 releases. Yeah, I’m a ‘rivit counter’, but perfection is what we have come to expect from NGModels, and we are thankful for it. Doug

I remember this point you raised being discussed very well. If that small issue has indeed been corrected with the engines on the Hawaiian examples, which really looks as if it has from here, then perhaps some of the earlier incorrect mouldings are still in 'circulation', and have found their way onto G-BLUS ;) Yes, I notice all the little details too, which, thankfully, NG have been so receptive about taking care of. It is clear proof that this approach of direct consultation with the collectorate can bring us all better models

It's been known for quite some time that Delta was not in this release batch. I'm certainly with everyone that wants one though - my favorite livery on my favorite aircraft.

I'm seriously loving what I see here!! The patience has paid off and NG have come up trumps! I'm also a big stickler for engine detail and these RB-211's look spot on. Love the intricate detail of all the panels on the engines as well as underneath too. Cockpit Windows look good and so does undercarriage. WELL DONE NG!! Cannot wait to get my hands on some of these amazing aircraft!!

The "other member" posted unprinted mould review pics while the moulds were being developed, for the benefit of members to observe and help refine. It's not clear to me why one would criticize someone for doing that helpful service, and giving hobbyists a preview of what it is now clear are the definitive (if possibly still able to have some very minor tweaks) 1:400 L-1011 moulds.

LOL R I G H T!

Hard to tell what needs to be tweaked without any printing on it! Remember when samples were not bare metal?

I have no Vendetta, just criticisms for someone that thinks they are the Sh$t and the final word on the hobby just because they have a website! How can someone do comparisons and not have some consistency on how they are presenting the subject's to be compared!

Not true - I was able to give feedback on the main landing gear doors, which are part of the iconic look of the Tristar, and it looks like NG incorporated it.

I'm not going to get into the personal attacks other than to say that I've met Rich in person and what he's being accused of here is not his attitude at all.

Ok, I am just asking a Aviation Enthusiast question here...............question about the L-1011.

Do my eyes deceive me or did the L 1 and R 1 doors not line up? I looked online and noticed the same thing. Does anyone know why Lockheed designed the Tristar that way?

Similar in principle to the 727-200 with the offset galley door on the starboard side. Availed itself to space for closets, lavs, aux galleys, etc etc.
