Ah that makes sense. Ok, I've only been on one L-1011, Air Transat. I've flown DC-10's more than any other type of airplanes.

FINALLY!!!!! somebody has created this beautiful airframe perfectly in 1:400. How many years has it taken? I didn't think I'd live to see the day.

The nose section has always been a massive issue. But not anymore. What brilliant news these superb models make.

Thanks so much NG.

Excellent mould.... the pictures look awesome. I look forward to receiving mine in a few short weeks. I will be patient, but I can’t wait for some bare metal Eastern planes, hopefully both wide and narrow hockey stick cheatlines. These would go great with my NG 757’s and AC DC-9’s.... looks like another home run mould from NG... excellent work NG.... ToddCB

We are aware. Your not-serious preferences for details show in the the poor quality of Aeroclassics recent releases and you continue to chastise people with higher standards.

Am sitting quietly for the Las Vegas Sands L1011... this is a superb job, I cannot wait. Did not get any from this batch as I don't particularly care for HA/BA Landor (Landor is only really an auto-get for me if it's on the 747)

But as I'm sure others want... ATA, PSA, Delta, LVS... the possibilities!!!

They brought me back after a 9 year hiatus. And others have benefited from them too, mainly Aeroclassics with their DC-9/DC-10/737-200 planes that I have purchased from various retailers to kinda play a little catch up over the ones that I have missed over the last decade of not collecting. Even picked up a Geminijet too. I applaud NG for reinvigorating the hobby and pushing others to do better. The collectors are truly benefiting from their presence, ToddCB

I agree, and it is sad that some take great glee that they do so at the expense of others.
Yes they have set a new standard, but not all moulds will be so good.
Lets just enjoy these wonderful new moulds, I'm sure other producers realise they have to raise their game a bit, and I am sure they will do. We know they are capable of doing so, whilst acknowledging how difficult it is to create near-perfection.
Hopefully its a win-win for all.

BA -500 on order, as well as the regular Hawaiian Air with full titles.

The Hawaiian Air is way outside my usual collecting criteria, but it is just too attractive to pass up. It will look great next to my 70s and 80s Aloha B737-200s from Aeroclassics, which I bought for the same reasons!

NG should take over the 400 scale segment. This mould is the best I've seen in this scale. Congratulations on creating a benchmark model.

It seems to me that everyone should do what they do best.

Aeroclassics DC-10-30's, DC-8's, 707's, 737-200's, DC-9-30's and -50s, are gold standards. I know some people are put off by the overly-large no. 2 nozzle on the 727-200, which can be fixed. Similarly, the DC-10-10 wings could be tweaked. Even so, those are still good models.

Hoping especially for more DC-10-30's, DC-9's, and 737-200's this year!! And some favorite 727-200's like Republic MTM.

And very much looking forward to the arrival of NG L-1011's.

What’s wrong with the DC-9-40’s?! AC does those, too. I suspect it was just a simple oversight on your part, but the AC DC-9-40 is just as good as the -30 and -50 they do.

I’d also add 767-200 to the AC list. I definitely look forward to additional releases on that tooling. Still crossing my fingers for limited re-releases of any American and/or Delta 767-200’s, now that improvements have been made to the printing (door size, window exit paths, gear door printing, etc).

Could not agree with this anymore. Aeroclassics is and will continue to be the leader in producing DC-10s, DC-9s, 737-200s, and DC-8s. These moulds are one of the reasons I stuck with 1:400 for the last few years. As for the DC-10-10, it would be fantastic for them to produce the -10-10 wing. I took it upon myself with a few of them to quite literally clip the ends of the wings to the proper size, filed them down for smoothness, and finished them off with some touch up paint. Now they look like true -10-10s! Still waiting on those darn Hawaiians... one of these days hopefully. But while were on that subject, it wouldnt be the worse thing in the world to see a Hawaiian Air DC-9 with full Hawaiian Air titles and Pualani logo to go along with their recent L1011 releases and NGs ...

Yes, the DC-9-40 was an oversight. And when I looked on DiMA--they list 13 made by AC--I think I own around half of them.

I would like to see more Aeroclassics 767-200's, too. Especially early-classic users such as Air Zimbabwe z-cheatline, Balkan-Bulgarian, and Piedmont including USAir hybrids. A re-done Delta widget with an *actual bare metal underside* would be welcome.

Pics of the NG Suntrips L-1011 over at Waffle. Simply stunning, can't wait to receive my order! Possibility of Aeroclassics Piedmont 767's, fantastic! Hoping for some true polished bare metals! I agree with others on here, the AK's 737-200 and DC-9's are pure perfection!

Saw the same thing this morning, and it prompted me to order instantly. Did a minor comparison to waffles pictures of the Lockness Hawaiian. NG seems to have the edge on this tooling.

I am curious about the 737s though. What is going on with those stilt nose gears?

Yes, I hope if NG does a 737-300/400/500, they get the gear right.

Just ordered G-BLUS and N765BE today as well. Cannot wait to see these. The forthcoming Aeroclassics releases sound hopeful too! If there are more DC-10s, 727s, 732s or DC9s in that bunch, I'll definitely be interested.

NG very much has the edge in L-1011 tooling.

The NG 737-800 gear are just a touch long, and should be shortened a bit. Still terrific models, but that's one tweak they need.

I'm impressed with these images and look forward to adding some to the collection.

The pylons look way better than GJ (I didn't like the gap) and although I did buy their BA Landor, I've already moved it on and will be getting NGM's release instead.

Rough comparison from this angle, but an ebay seller has both the Lockness and NG listed for reference. Pick what you like!

Lockness:

Some more pictures courtesy of Waffle to compare the Lockness vs. NG. Same registration, except the Lockness version does not sport the black dot on the nose (which I prefer)

Thanks for showing the comparisons. At first glance, they both look very much the same but on close scrutiny, you can definitely spot the differences.
I certainly know which one I'll choose!

That one has sold out quick on ebay, the more attractive pricing offered by some would have also helped with that. They are still available to order at the usual UK retailer outlets, although they are about £8-£10 more expensive unfortunately.

Lovely, exotic example of a late L1011 Hajj operator. This also appeals to me, but I think some of the more obscure operators like this would have to be made in limited numbers.

Custom-painted might be an option?

Yes, but since the whole fuselage is colored you'd have repaint basically everything and there probably will be a high error rate

Sorry I'm begging but please NG, please!

On the Hajj operator front, I'd also love to see a Kallat Elsaker Air L1011-500 one of the last users of the TriStar into the late 2000s.

Oh wow never heard of that one. There are a ton of Hajj operated Tristars that I'd love but Air Rum is my favorite mainly due to the paint scheme. If NG does decide to make an Air Transat Tristar I'd hope they'd be generous enough to give us Kallat Elsaker, Jordan Aviation, Privilege Jet Airlines, and Globe Jet Tristars too because they all use the Air Transat livery as a base.

Here's a photo of the Kallat (well a pair of them at Ouagadougou in 2008 - ex. Globejet machines)

Another Hajj bird belonging to Reem Air. Ex-Caledonian too

I've actually seen this bird in person!
