Default Photo Diorama

Hi guys! I’ve been experimenting some photo shoots with my 1:400 models since I had my foil taxiline/gate laminated onto a piece of wood and purchased some ramp products (inspiration credits go to Zareh at airplanereplicas for giving me this awesome idea). Below are some angles I experimented with at 4 in the morning and using a random letter I found in a drawer for a white background along with that models box to sort of show off what manufacturer made that model.
Besides natural lighting and probably camera (using an iPhone 7 camera) what would you guys recommend to help me produce better photos so I wouldn’t have to go and over edit them.
I know someone on Facebook does As real as it gets and those are amazing.
Also please feel free to share some of your photo diorama too!

Nice content, thanks for posting. I find building scenes like this one is really satisfying and relaxing.

Very nice, Jag. A mix of Herpa & Gemini GSE I see. I was happy to note that the Herpa 1/400 Catering Trucks have gone back into production as of yesterday I've been waiting to order those for quite some time.

Thank you guys for the nice comments. The next step is to try natural lighting and purchasing the JC 1:400 Jetway for a few more shots. I love both the herpa and Gemini products. I am yet to try the new ones by fantasywings ( I believe that’s what they are called )

IPhone camera is very good to do the ”street view” angle. I use it a lot when taking photos of my models.
Thanks for sharing your photos.

Hi Jag,

cool start - I appreciate it much!

Here are some infos about the way I usually take pictures, perhaps You like to know.

Most of my pictures are taken with my Lumia 950 XL camera.
Sometimes I do tests in different ways using other cameras, the lighting, the background, do experiments with tilt shift (greater distance and greater zoom will reduce the effect when desired - You have it on Your first picture).
Then I have some different ideas for taking photos inspired by what I have exprienced. Then I try to catch this with the camera and thereafter check the results that I got. The result is probably different to that what I had in my mind - not bad but different.

Each time I do a kind of photoshooting with the latest model, following a fix sequence. Then I sort the pictures and think about a Story.
I also take notes about experiences that I gaind during whole time.

I try different filters (sometimes the effects are better than I thought) and think about what to upload.

best regards,
Jan

Thanks for the ideas. Natural lighting is still yet to come since I work all day. Street mode will continue since I have received the best shots. I loved doing it the first time and can’t wait to keep doing it. I just hope the wider iPhone camera catches the jetways once I get them.

Hello again everyone. I don’t want this to end up being a continuous thread to show off my diorama unless members and admins are ok with it. Also if anyone also dabbles with photos, would love to see them! 🙂 One of my friends requested KLM, so I chose the

BigBird KLM 747-400 “World Click” 1:400

Hope everyone enjoys the photos. More suggestions would be appreciated. My work has only given me free time to take photos at night which means I use Adobe Lightroom to clean up and brighten the photos. Thanks everyone for checking once again!

Great photos, and with an iPhone, too. They are more than just acceptable, and smart phone cameras won’t (yet) handle all photographic situations perfectly, but you are using yours quite well in this application. Nice work, Doug.

Thank you Doug for the nice words! My goal is to try and show off new products I purchase in dioramas. Its very challenging with an iPhone camera and i have nearly 20 raw photos before I pick and choose upto just 5 to edit. I definitely will invest in a camera soon and try again. Will keep this thread updated on more pictures for whoever is interested.

Hello again guys (anyone who’s probably still subscribed)

I picked up some JC 1:400 Jetways and gave it a try and it honestly helped my photos so much. I’m not much of a person who has anxiety but more stress, and oh boi is this a good cure for stress. Anyways enjoy the photos from my iPhone again!

Nice, I didn't know JC made some new jetways so ordered one myself.
Print some vertical backgrounds or buildings to place the jetway against to complete the scene.
