Heightens the anticipation, I am sure given that this is their first release on the new 1:400 L1011 mould NG Model want to get the release as accurate as possible so maybe some refinement before the photographs.

All sounds good to me. In the original June announcement thread I pointed out a very minor error on the artwork for G-BLUS (the Royal Mail logo), where NG responded right away with a view to correcting this tiny detail - with this level of refinement, collectors are going to be very well served here.

I am happy I pre-ordered a few from this batch. I am particularly excited for the Aeroflot 737. The A330s look nice except for maybe the pylons are too big which makes the engines almost touch the ground. Looking at the pylons in photographs they appear considerably less bulky than on these A330.

Wow...you really nailed the American Airlines silver-gray. Looks great. 'Pearlescent' color *can* be done well in 1:400 without 'disco sparkliness," as this model shows.

The A330 engines look a touch low, but hardly 'engine draggers.' Good grief.

A question: Is the brownish-red on D-ABBA a little dark? Or is it the photo? Take a look at this Flickr photo.

Gemini Jets is doing this one. Quality control may be spotty, but it will cost a lot less and it does use the JCW mould which is very nice.

Yes the GJ 738 mould is not bad at all. I purchased it and am looking forward to it.

It is my humble suggestion that NG cut their prices some. Including discount and cheapest-option shipping, a new NG 737-800 or 757-200 from Waffle is around $44, and other places with higher shipping costs will be more. I'd buy more models than I do.

I'd buy the Air Berlin, for instance, but there needs to be a limit somewhere. I would find a per-model total purchase cost around $37 for the 737's to be more workable, to buy more than just my very highest priorities.

Agreed. I'd rather have a cheaper up front cost than a blow out sale two weeks after I paid $40+ for my pre-order to arrive.

As for 737s, Gemini seems to be putting out a lot of -800s. I'd like to see a few -700s for a change.

I singled out NG here because this is an NG thread, but it wouldn't hurt if others reduced prices some, too, especially on jumbos.

Gemini's 737's, though, at full new price plus discount and shipping from Waffle come out around $37. That's workable for me. I'd prefer if $100 gets me closer to three models than to two.

Their 737 mould seen here is quite superb to be fair, not in my collection criteria really but nevertheless, worthy of praise.

I think the high price is the byproduct of small production runs. The manufacturer needs to recoup costs on the mold development and artwork rendering, in addition to the actual cost of production.

Given how NG makes relatively small production runs compared to the incumbents, their cost per unit will be higher.

Better to wait and have them be perfect than to rush them.

Any idea when they'll be distributed to sellers?

I assume they will be shipped to the retailers as soon as they are ready, meaning they will reach the retailers 3-5 days later.

Ruh roh... the American A330 box says N218AY instead of the correct N281AY. At least the model itself is correct!!

Love the L1011 boxes. Nicely done.
