Default Panda Models Easyjet

Panda models have re-issued their EasyJet A321NEO, but can you tell which one it is? LEFT or RIGHT

You have an evens chance of guessing correctly, but anyone who has the Panda model may wish to check an important detail.

I would guess the left as well, the nose gear looks a little thinner, ariels look smaller and wing dihedral looks better...so.. any hints as to which is which ?

Left is re-issue.

I have the re-issue one - it has thinner landing gear which is missing some forward angle of original release. Also tail has orange tint on base near leading edge.

Well I can't find any pics of easyJet models on the DIMA database - it's obviously one of the no-no companies like Cathay Pacific - and Wings900/DAC are not up-to-date enough to have it.

I've found on eBay that there are at least two versions of it with registrations G-UZMA and G-UZMB. But 'MA has 'NEO' logos and 'MB does not.

Looking at pictures on-line of the six real easyJet 321NEOs, only 'MA has the NEO logo the rest of the fleet does not so unless Panda have screwed up, the models should have registrations G-UZMA. I cannot read the reg's of the models in the pics above.

The only difference I can see between them is the size of the engines and the style of the undercarriage. The one on the right seems to have engines that are far too big. The left hand model corresponds closer, in my opinion, with the real aircraft in photos. Assuming the re-release is to improve it over the first release, I would say that the left one is the newer version.

It is obvious that the left one is from PM, as for the right...make no comments on it.

You all have guessed correctly, the one on the left is the Panda model. However in my opinion there is an issue with it, the engines are not NEO as they are to small. The model on the right is a custom model (JC Wings donor) which also has some shortcomings and those relate to the quality of print that I can get from the basic inkjet printer I used to create the decals. Here are some more images which may help regarding the engine size.

The engines on the Gemini / JC Wings NEOs are grossly oversized and if that donor model didn't have such ludicrous wing issues they'd be touching the ground. The Panda mould is fine and comparable to the HYJLwings mould.

In addition what makes you think that Panda have reissued the model? They have never done so previously with any other model and I have seen no evidence they have done so here. It hasn't been relisted for example on the Chinese sites and you haven't suggested any differences between release 1 and 2.

1) i would not agree that the engines are grossly oversized on the JC Wings. If anything they are oversized in the same proportion as the Panda engines are undersized.

2) I asked Panda Models directly if they had any intentions of re-issuing this model and on the 7th May this year I received their response, “Yes it has been re-issue already, so don't be worry about that, the G-UZMA will available soon.” In fact Aviation Megastore has been listing it as a re-issue for sometime and they have notified me that it is now in stock.

3) the photo of Issue one was a image down loaded from the web months age so must have been the original release. Issue 2 was a photo the the example I received from Engtaobao on the 29th of May.

I disagree on the engine size but otherwise you are better informed than I

The NEO engines on the JC and Gemini A320 family make me shudder

I asked an EasyJet pilot, who is well known to me, which of these 2 models had the engine nearest to the correct size. His response was the custom/JC Wings. With respect to engine shudder he says they run as smooth as silk.

Actually all the Easyjets were produced in a same batch by PM last year, sorry for brought you this misleading information.
In order to responsed collectors' requesting, at the end of 2018 half quantity of Easyjets were finished, with the coming of Chinese Spring Festival there was not enough time and labor shortage result in the delayed of parts assembly for other half models. That's why the Easyjet are available now, we just done the unfinished work. All the models from PM are limited.

There is an engine detail that Panda Models have got right; the “blisters” on the port side of each power plant. Not to obvious until you look closely, but are evident to the touch. Well done to Panda for spotting and incorporating this small detail. Not sure if this feature exists on any other model with Leap-1A engines; certainly not apparent on the JC Wings.

Not sure what you mean by, “such ludicrous wing issues”.
The engine ground clearance looks reasonable to me but there are slight variations in the wing angles. Perhaps the sharklets on the JC Wings are a bit off.

I have just received my pair of easyJet A321s and very happy with them both. I am an easyJet skipper and the size and shape of the engines are fine (comparable to the HYJL version as previously mentioned).
Great job with the custom model, however the size and shape of the JC mould is far from fine.
I think Mr Stretton was referring to an emotional response in terms of engines making him shudder The NEO engines do sound different on ground and at low speeds. They tend to make more of a humming sound. At higher speeds, external airflow overwhelms the engine noise and everything sounds normal.
The bulge you refer to houses the external (to the engine core) gearbox and IDG (integrated drive generator).

You photo rather shows what I meant. The JC Wings looks like it gets airborne by flapping its wings (this is not the worst effort I've seen from JC, although I admit they have improved in recent times). The angle of the Sharklets on the JC also shows that they haven't mounted the wings as intended since they point towards the fuselage. I have seen plenty with more level wings but as with the issues they had with their A330s the slot in wings don't always seem to sit as intended.

I would also note that your front on photos don't show the Panda and the JC from quite the same front on angle. It doesn't really matter. The JC Wings A321 is reasonably serviceable and at least has the correct wings on it but it isn't a patch on the HYJLwings or Panda A321s.

I actually reviewed the JC A321 (albeit a CEO not NEO) back in 2017 and the mould got a 7. I think that's fair:

For info, dihedral of A320 is 5.11 degrees

https://www.aerospacefacts.com/plane...p?plane_id=111

So the Panda model is closer to the mark if you have measured 4 degrees. I don’t think anyone has done better than Panda / HYJL when it comes to A320 family in 400 scale.
