Default NEW MOULD: NG Models Airbus A330-200/300

I am pleased to have such a good relationship with NG Models that they trust me to look over their samples and I was surprised to receive a parcel a few days back with two completely new moulds in it. Does 1:400 need another A330? Maybe, maybe not but it is interesting that NG has gone down this path. For lots and lots of photos, plus some analysis, check out the link below:

https://www.yesterdaysairlines.com/m...-in-1400-scale

I found 5 A330s I'd like to see made. What do you want to see, ideally that hasn't already been made a hundred times!

Note that many of the photos in the blogpost link through to FlickR so you can get close-up to the new moulds.

Enjoy!

Cool. A bit off topic, but I wish NG would release some new 1:200 moulds. Richard, or anyone else in the know, is there anything in the pipeline from NG in 1:200? (If you can disclose it...)

I'd like to see an A330 MRTT / Voyager, the only one i have seen so far is the Dragon one, and then; that's not an RAF version.
If the nice people at NG were prepared to do the Honeywell B757 and the Beluga...maybe they will add the tweaks to make an MRTT..
Here's hoping..

Interesting move, like you say many A330's out there, not sure there are any I would replace with a new version, even though I love the airframe, and flown on it many times.

The 757 was a stroke of genius in my opinion, last year over 60% of my purchases were NG 757s, from only having 3 examples from 10 years of collecting, I now have too many! And they are so good I will replace my originals as the NG ones appear.

The Tristar would have a similar hit on my collecting, only having one example, a Gemini Delta, as all the BA ones were too expensive, and well, I was never convinced they were actually Tristars....

....but I wasn't convinced by the 737 either, and yet I have my first on order

Good news, the Aeroclassics and Phoenix A330 moulds are currently the best, but AC lacks antenna (Yes I know you don't like them Andrew). And Phoenix don't do western airlines often enough.

In that respect, I'd be keen to see what NG might produce and certainly for me I'd like to see the following examples, mainly as they are 'flown on' examples.

In 2002 I flew DUB-LAX on the then brand new Aer Lingus A330-200 'EI-DAA' with aer-lingus.com logo near the nose. My return trip was on EI-EWR in the same livery, so either of those reg's would be great.

My other A330-200 flight was aboard an Airtours example from Manchester to Gran Canaria on this one. Return flight was by Airtours DC-10, which was great but the A330 seemed so ultra modern by comparison and even had downstairs toilets in the mid hold area.

And echoing other suggestions an A330-MRTT military version would be excellent, I'm surprised GJ haven't done a MACS version yet, and for me a JMC A332 would be excellent, especially if a 757 is getting released as well ? The GJ/JC A330 does of course has it flaws, I also wouldn't mind a better rendition of the Virgin Atlantic A332 and the American Airlines new livery too.

I'm sure a few of these have been made before but they're all awesome. Also I'm kinda surprised they went for the A330. I would have expected an A350 first, but this will still do just fine.

Yeah it wasn't great, they used the full pearl paint on it and rouge red when it's quite clear from images that they dont have it. Plus the mould isn't very good either

I'm not in need of a ton of A330's either, but I second the motion for this one:

Great news, NG!
And my two suggestions:

1) A332 SWISSAIR HB-IQA (first delivered) with the dark grey belly;

2) A332 SWISSAIR HB-IQP (or HB-IQL) in Qualiflyer Livery

Id like to suggest another two I forgot earlier

Air Canada A333 in new livery

Etihad A333 in Abu Dhabi 2019 livery

I hope this mold could encourage NG to go NEO and do a few A330-900neos or even -800s, and maybe in the future could modify the wings to create A340s...!

Personally I would have loved to see the Neo made as there are so many 1.400 A330 molds, that's just my opinion. Having said that a MRTT model would be fantastic.

Totally agree with AK, the market is big enough to sustain competition, I have many Aeroclassics A330's which are of excellent quality, so not too sure I understand the comment. Happy to go head-to-head with Andrew over his choice of production models (his money), I guess I'm just bias as a UK collector, we are in the wilderness as far as AC recent releases are concerned, but recognise that the A330 is a quality mould (Just to be clear I'm not an AC sycophant).

Me too. The blue on the AC version was too dark and the bmi titles didn't capture the right effect.

Would love to see NG have a go at these.

Totally unnecessary. NG are producing excellent stuff, but who other than AC has brought us such a variation of classic and modern subjects over the years? Unless NG plans to delve into Heralds, IL-18s, DC-7s, all original series of DC-8s, Caravelles, Comets, DC-4s and even Argonauts, I cannot see how the collectorate cannot sustain NG alongside AC.

It isn't clear to me why more A330 moulds are needed. I love Aeroclassics' moulds. Any of the earlier 747 models (100/200, SP, 300) or an MD-80 are *much* higher new-mould priorities than yet more Airbus moulds. That said, I'm sure NG A330 moulds will be outstanding.

I would not replace any of my many Aeroclassics A330's. I didn't buy AC's BMI because they got the blues very wrong. So I have the Gemini, which I definitely would replace. So if NG would do BMI, I would buy that A330.

I have the GJ version of the BMI which is even worse (even though the blue is a closer match).

Wholly agreed with Jim though - I'm not looking to replace any of my AC's and would much rather see something really new like a Tu134 or DC-9-10, and yes, 747's and MD-80's in NG quality as well.

Would of rather seen a different mould. More than 90% of these have been made already on quite lovely moulds.

So glad to see another excellent new NG Model mould!

I have many A330's I'd like to see but my biggest wish for 1/400 is a South African Airways Airbus A330-300. It hasn't been produced by any other manufacturer so far.

I see a lot of suggestions which are all good.. and also questions on why another A330, because this livery and that airline has already been done..
Maybe they have.. but don't forget that not all of us were able to avail ourselves of a given livery / airline when AC or GJ or whoever did them..and now they go for silly money, or are just not around.
Some of us may like a second chance to get one of those ones..and if the registration is different.. then the fleet builders might be happy too..
Just my penny's worth..

I couldn't agree more with you pal. After collecting models from different airlines -mostly from South America- I decided to focus on Aerolineas Argentinas and Avianca. I have almost all of the Aerolineas Argentinas releases, but stopped buying them because I have too many and I live in a small apartment. But Avianca is definitively my thing. I have all the beautiful and wonderful releases from Aeroclassics, especially the Boeing 747's, along with the ones from GJ, Phoenix, and Dragon Wings. Building my Avianca fleet is my focus now and that's why I request releases based on Reg #'s rather than liveries/schemes. It would be great to be able to recreate a whole airline history and at the same time, giving the new collectors to have access to models and liveries the missed on because they were not on the hobby yet.

I found 5 A330s I'd like to see made. What do you want to see, ideally that hasn't already been made a hundred times!

Note that many of the photos in the blogpost link through to FlickR so you can get close-up to the new moulds.

Enjoy!
I just read your review on Yesterday's Airlines, and I agree with you that this mould is almost identical to the AC's one. In actuality it was a good idea to read your review about it because at first I thought NG had bought some blank casts from AC, but I can tell now that NG created their own mould. Seeing what NG has done so far with the Boeing 757 mould, there's no doubt they will do great with the A330-200 and A330-300 as well.

Welcome NG A-330-200 and A-330-300 moulds!!!

My request to NG Models is the Avianca A330-200 Reg #: N973AV in the 2000's colors with the Avianca 90 Años logo.

Here are some pictures:

Love the Avianca liveries new and old. Memories of not only seeing them at Miami International, but in Bogota on stopovers from Guayaquil to Caracas.

Saw this a few times at MIA
