I agree with this, in fact I made a similar point elsewhere on the forum, the GJ standard L-1011 is a decent model, being made on the former AV400 mould - the very one which many were calling for to make a comeback before NG were on the scene. I am still very excited by both AC and NG's forthcoming TriStars, I'm sure they will nail it, but I still don't mind having this BA Red Tail example in my collection and it's very handy for fleet building, it has been done very well. I think there is a lot of animosity toward Gemini after the threats to retailers debacle, which is completely understandable, I'm sure we'll have a great selection of decent TriStars in 1/400 in the months to come and this will speak for itself. I know that is what a lot of collectors are waiting and saving up for; myself included. However, I'm still going to give credit where it's due: Gemini totally stuffed-up the -500 but their -100 is a solid model, maybe not 100% accurate in some areas but it's definitely not a train wreck either!

I quite agree and would be happy if neither NG or AC produced a BA Negus TriStar with just 'British' titles. I just hope no one duplicates the other!

I disagree although the Witty mould was fine Gemini's landing gear is crap and the wing angle is still an issue. Plus the nose isn't as good as the new NG either. If NG are going to make a set of BA Tristars then I would rather they were all the same and better than the Gemini.

It wouldn't be a problem if either AC or NG made another "British" TriStar, we need a nice new Dash 200 as well with these titles (and British Airways), there are plenty of registrations to choose from; I don't think either will duplicate GJ with the same reg. An amazing fleetbuilding opportunity also exists here for BA collectors! If anything, we should be happy that suddenly there is so much choice.

As I understand it, AeroClassics will release their new L-1011 Tristar moulds before NGModels. Much discussion on the NGM prototypes, with positive responses to criticisms and suggested tweaks to the prototypes, previewed by Richard Stretton. Other talk on the forum on what to do with our out-dated 'obsolute' moulds, being replaced by newer, superior releases. The bar has been raised, and the hobby continues to evolve in a positive way. Great times, Doug

This is what I've heard as well; from what I understand we should see the NG releases available later on, with retailers in June. I'm very curious to see Aeroclassics' offering, it's sure to be good, the bar has most definitely been raised, and my wallet is going to be taking a major beating this year.
