Default NG Models Beluga XL Sample First Pictures

Is there anything that NG Models can't do? They certainly are keeping all their promises Today I received a parcel containing 3 samples of the new Beluga XL mould - 2 complete and 1 in its component parts.

Needless to say this will get a detailed review but you'll probably have to wait until January. To whet your appetites here are a couple of quick shots. There'll be a lot more to come:

Looks an interesting subject, will go nicely with my Sky400 Guppy. I passed on the Dragon Beluga (standard A300-600ST) as it is not entirely diecast (although I can accept plastic engines and landing gear).
Is the cargo door diecast? What’s the hinge like? If you get chance can you show the door in open position if the hinge has been fitted?
Thanks for sharing first pics.

I wish it was a 747 or Tu-134 etc, but if NG want to make it I'll buy one to go with my A300-600ST.

Such a quirky plane it's great!

The door does not open and close and has no hinge. It is a plastic part, but everything else aside from engines/pylons and landing gear is metal.

Sorry, this is what it looks like before it has been artificially processed. It has just been die-casted, which is too original.

I believe this will be the first 1:400 model to feature realistic flight crew figures too !

Why spend the time and resources on such a limited subject, when us collectors are crying out for other aircraft types/liveries. I Hope there won't be hundreds of these collecting dust on retailers shelves.

Quite interesting model.
It brings some diversity to a collection.
I would like to have the same in 1:200 scale.

That detailing on the landing gears is mad. Good choice NG for adding some variety to the scene with this one.

Great job, looking good NG! Not for my collecting criteria....but gives me hope one day for a new TU-134 mould

Very nice engine detailing on there! I expect that Airbus themselves would probably have a market for these models as corporate gifts and so forth. (Like the Dragon A300ST.) I'll definitely add one of these to my collection to go with the little brother A300ST and the Super Guppy.

The appearance of unique and unusual subjects like this give me real hope for a Ty-114 one day. Looking at the care and attention to detail NG put into their work I really hope they are the ones who do it. Herpa, the other company who like to dip into this sort of subject are either really, really good when they get it right (An-225 etc) or dismal when they get it wrong... NG on the other hand don't seem to miss a trick.

Wasn't it a direct quote, by you, in the NG 787-9 thread that NG is "not the messiah"??

That all said, I think this is a pretty cool release. Not something I'll buy, but NG consistently impresses me with the risks they're willing to take, in this hobby. Whether it be rendering and releasing obscure/unusual liveries, or obscure/unusual aircraft.

I think NG only does short runs, so probably enough to meet demand and bring them a profit, but I wish also they would give priority to airliner types that served with many airlines that can run and run, rather than a 'one off' type that they can only make in one Airbus scheme.

Many are asking for a Tu-134, Tu-114, a new B747 mould and we could do with a new B727-100 mould too. Myself I would love a Bristol 170 Freighter Mk.31!

Exactly yes, it's not an economic mould, but an interesting mould. Make happiness, rather than make money.

Nice mold well done. I'm told by my friend at Airbus that there will be different liveries on the A330 Belugas, so the mold wont go to waist!

Get rid of those red lines there only stress test sensors!
Also the tail fins WILL eventually have numbers on them like the A300's!

Maybe we should wait for the actual final livery to be painted on the aircraft?

I’d hate for it to be inaccurate.

It is but it's still in it's test phase. All the markings will get applied once it's officially delivered!

Might be a good to delay it but, I'll see what comes of it soon?

Just out of curiosity, if you do plan on purchasing a Beluga, how many examples would you want in your collection?

As NG had it it represented first flight, now unless we wait, we're guessing what it 'should' look like, unless No.2 is going to roll out of the paint shop anytime soon in full delivery scheme.

Don't get me wrong, I'd prefer one without lines/test sensors, but I'd also prefer that model to truly represent a real airframe.

Great to see NG produce this aircraft and it will be good to see it in these markings and I understand that she made her first visit to the UK yesterday (February 14th).

From the Airbus website:

If you use the arrow keys you'll see another two images of No.2
