Hey guys I don't mean to intrude on his privacy but just in case the service isn't quite what you would normally expect from Waffle Collectibles at the moment I am sorry to inform you that Michael was involved in a serious car accident a few days ago (due to someone being stopped on the 2nd fastest lane on the highway with no hazards on).

I don't have a lot of details, only what his wife, posted on his Facebook account. It sounds like it was at high speed, he broke quite a few bones and had to have surgery. Although very serious it sounds like he will make a full recovery in time but it may be a long journey.

Michael has been my primary dealer in models for nearly a decade now and he has been a good friend to me - helping me find great models at decent prices, providing spares, connecting me with various people and being an all round good bloke.

I wish him a speedy recovery. Obviously please be considerate when dealing with the shop that he has more important things to worry about than die-casts at the moment.

I did wonder why his site was a few days old in terms of his regular updates. Sounds like things could have been a lot worse for him, hopefully he'll be OK in the long run, and if he's reading these pages; Get Well Soon Mike !

Yes. Waffle is my main supplier to get my fix.

I do wish he recovers soon and that there will be no lasting ill-effects to his health.

Very sad to hear. Hoping for a full and speedy recovery.

What will happen to existing orders though? I have a couple pre-orders with them and I'm wondering if his wife or someone else will take care of them.

Distressed to hear this news. Michael has been a regular though not exclusive supplier to me for several years and I met him and his charming wife at AI2015 in Atlanta.
I hope he makes a full and speedy recovery.

Wishing Michael all the best for a full and speedy recovery.

I have used Waffle Collectibles several times over the years and have always recieved a prompt and reliable service. I actually just placed an order with him for a number of NG B757s after being let down by my more local retailer in the UK.

Best wishes.

Ian

Thank you for this news, Rich. Waffle is my primary supplier and his service is excellent. He has been an extremely important part of my very significant investment of time and money in 1:400.

I will be praying for his full recovery, and hope that it goes as quickly and smoothly as possible.

Best wishes to Michael on his recovery. He's been my exclusive source for models for a few years now. And I've sold a good deal of models through him.

I had the honor and pleasure of meeting him once. He's a good guy. And he is tough as nails, in a good way.

Hi all - I have messaged briefly with Michael's wife and she tells me he is doing better but will be out of action for at least 6 weeks. However the shop is still up and running with the help of friends and family so don't stop using Waffle Collectibles. Waffle has seen this post and will no doubt post himself when he can.

Really? At this particular moment of his life, you had to use this 'best wishes for his recovery' thread to make your personal feelings about him known to the other contributing DAC members to this thread? You could have used your own separate thread to vent about him.

I have never dealt with him for models, so I am very neutral in my opinion of him. I did almost meet up with him at the LAX AI show a few years back, and he had already scooped up several models from various vendor tables the day before I touched down at LAX. I was given this info from Andrew Klein (who waffle had cleaned out, ) in person, i just chuckled because of my late timing to the event.

I wish him and his family all the best with his recovery from this terrible traffic accident. T7

But you felt the need to start a new account just to act like a little ***** on this thread? Waffle certainly doesn't suffer idiots but it is interesting how so many people have such a good experience with him compared to some who don't. Up to you who you buy from but you're hardly displaying a lot of class here.

If you really are located in Duluth, MN , might I suggest you take a swim in Lake Superior for about 20 minutes to cool yourself down. Yes, I am very familiar with how cold Lake Superior is 12 months of the year; since my hometown is Thunder Bay, ON.

This A-hole also tricked some warehouse employees at ADI into shipping him models and paying them under the table, he is unscrupulous.

I wouldn't even doubt of this accident story is a made up attempt to gain sympathy and support, I certainly wouldn't it past him.
Dear lord. It's crystal clear, now.

Notice all these suspicious accounts appearing out of thin air, over the last week?? All of them inquiring about NG models. And now this - a user who's new to the forum just in the last few hours, and their number one grievance over Waffle is how he, presumably, screwed ADI.

Coincidence that the username is Transpac777, where I'm a rather outspoken critic of GJ/ADI?? Nah. This new account is definitely someone at GJ/ADI doing some after-hours trolling.

Even if "Transpac777" isn't affiliated with ADI, it sounds like Mr. Epstein has got some of his 5 employees busy trolling. I suspect that every one of those so-called "Ripoff Reports" is an Gemini / ADI plant. None of those "reports" resemble the Waffle I've been doing large amounts of business with very happily for years now.

Epstein would do better to pay the 5 employees to produce models on some of Gemini's classic regional-aircraft moulds like the Convair 580, Dash 8, and Shorts 360.

I have only dealt with Michael once or twice, mainly as I don't usually source models via the US. I've always found him to be prompt, efficient and courteous. I can only wish him well in his recovery.

Gloating over someone's misfortune, even if your dealings with them have not been good says more about you than them. Nice.

Yes, sometimes Michael is a bit hot-headed, but usually my interactions with him are smooth enough. He does offer the best prices and selection. This is not the time or place, though, to be accusing him of stuff, whether if it is true or not.

That comment is true and it cost some long time employees their job...

Haven't bought from Michael in years due to Chinese customs tightening their grip on imports, but before that he was my go to guy. Exemplary service!

I agree with others...not the right thread to air your grievances. Legit or not, leave this thread be.

Sounds like some of you are as far left as I am right on this.
You created a user account closely resembling an established user's name, for the express purpose of attacking a man who is in hospital following a car crash and for what ? You expect my sympathy or something ? My advice is to Eff Off and consider growing yourself a pair ! Shameful behaviour son, shameful !

I'm sorry to hear about that. I dont know why people are so stupid when driving. Seriously if you're stopped put your hazards on or try to get onto the shoulder. I hope hes doing a little bit better

I haven't bought from Waffle in years, but haven't had any bad relations with the guy. Bashing a person while they're down is a coward move. Creating an account just to bash the guy is a coward move. Yet another thread that has made me lose respect for Gemini... anybody want some models?

Let's all hope Michael gets well soon. I'm eager for his next collection sale.

Very common here in China for the driver on the highway to:
1. Slow down to read the road signs
2. Stop completely in the middle/left lanes, wanting to make a 3 lane change to get to the off-ramp

Driving in reverse on the highway (to access the off-ramp they had just passed) is now less common as the authorities will deduct the entire 12 points on the driver's license if caught.

Sh*tty move on the part of this user for criticizing Michael after an accident. Have nothing good to say about him? Better to just keep your mouth shut. This isn't the time nor the place to do it.

We need to contact whoever is in charge of this forum to vet all these new users. Everything about them just doesn't smell right.

Transpac777's defenitly a troll, his/her's name resembles that of another user's, and he/she is showing complete and utter disregards towards someone. I mean who would be so salty over one guy? To further re-enforce my point, why would a new account appear out of nowhere just to cause this s***storm!

I am so sorry to hear of Michael's unfortunate accident, I wish for him a full and speedy recovery. I've never met the man, but I have had nothing but good experiences purchasing from him.

Unfortunately, instances like this bring out the worst in some. Anyone who would kick another human being while he is down is nothing more than a coward who lacks any sense of human kindness. Shameful behaviour.

Get well Mike!

I wouldn't even doubt if this accident story is a made up attempt to gain sympathy and support, I certainly wouldn't put it past him.
Made up story?? You are one truly pathetic POS!!! We are all human beings, mortals; have an ounce of decorum and decency!!

For the rest of the civilized collectors' community, I am happy to report that Michael is making tremendous progress, and was able to walk today for the first time since the horrible crash. I spent today visiting Michael in the hospital, and happy to see him so upbeat, after going thru hell a few days ago.
