Well, there went my less-expensive month. VARIG, Swissair, Aeromexico, Mexicana, both Olympics, DHL. Love seeing a DC-9-50! Would welcome a Republic DC-9-50 in either Herman or Mary Tyler Moore colors.

By the way does anyone know what is up with the Vladivostok Avia A320 and KLM L-188 Ezytoys advertised? They said they were limited and indeed they've sold out but as far as I can tell neither had been made previously.

What 'KLM L-188'? Looking at Eztoys site, the only AC L-188 I can find is an old Western Airlines model erroneously linked to KLM when you do a search? We already have KLM Electras in both schemes, so I can't see the mould being resurrected again?

They came through on the usual Ezytoys email and said they were 'limited'. Both sold out now. I asked Andrew and he said they were not new so perhaps just Ezytoys shifting old stock. I was mistaken about them not being done before - they both had been.

I have one KLM Electra. It was a 400 Scalehangar club model years ago.

I've only seen one pic where it appears to be a super dark blue in those lighting conditions. Most other pics seem like it's black to the casual observer.
Just grabbed the polished Olympic 727 and the Swissair DC-9-50, boy these are selling out fast at the UK retailers! Lucky I managed to nab these this morning.

Olympic gray-bottom 727-200. Note the quality-control bloopf--spot of missing silver paint on the port wing leading edge. I can fix that with a dab of paint. But let's keep an eye on that!
A classy livery, whether bare-metal underside or gray!

Considering the silver belly scheme has already been done, I'm surprised one of these wasn't in Olympic's interim scheme between the Navy blue and 'Rainbow schemes', although the 727s never made it into the latter.
Here is that scheme - a lighter blue with pin-stripes above/below the cheatline and 'double flag' with titles plus grey belly. Cummon Andrew, don't leave this one out?

HB-IST arrived from ARD today. Gorgeous little model, loving these classic chocolate stripe Swissair Nines. I believe the stretch version was the type more commonly seen at LHR. Glad I nabbed this. Has AC done a Cargo version of the shorter 33F? That would be an idea, if not. Still waiting for SX-CBE.

Expecting mine tomorrow, polished bottom Olympic 727, Mexican Police 727, Swissair DC-9 and Varig DC-10. I stopped using ARD for my Aeroclassics after too many unfulfilled or part fulfilled orders.

What's up with ARD? Not ordering enough for demand or playing favorites with certain customers?
Good question, in my case I was getting fed up with my Aeroclassics pre-orders not being fulfilled whilst reading about other collectors receiving theirs. When I'd enquire as to my models whereabouts or likelihood of receiving them I'd generally receive one of three answers.
A: We didn't get any in.
or
B: We'll we didn't get yours this time but there might be another delivery due.
or
C: We just don't know if we're getting them or not ?
The straw that broke the camel's back was when my Aero California DC-9 order went unfulfilled and I was treated to answer 'A' followed by me reading a comment on that particular month's Aeroclassics release thread on DAC where someone claimed to have been in the ARD store and saw a staff member packaging up their entire quota of said model for shipping to a diecast dealer in Mexico. Kind of made my mind up after that, things were better under the dear departed Trevor sadly. At least his e-mails were personalised with your name and not just 'Dear Customer'...
Favoured customers ? Possibly... I get my AC models from ebay now.

Have to say guys I've just been writing the text for a blog entry about the Cuban C-46s and especially in their context of the 1950s Batista regime and the revolution they didn't disappoint. Interestingly Aerovias Q was seemingly quite a well known airline at the time. Cuba Aeropostal however appears a lot more obscure. Even so these are the kind of releases that keep me interested. Gems that unearth the history of aviation.
I may have to fast track this blog post into next month. Right now there is a backlog of blog posts stretching into November.
