Default 1/400 Winter trucks diorama

So I've been wanting the Herpa Winter truck set for years, but they are super rare and the last one I saw on ebay sold for over $200 which is sort of crazy for such basic looking vehicles. I decided to just design my own and printed them off Shapeways. Yes this scene is crowded and unrealistic but it's just a temporary setup anyway. The snow is tapioca starch.

Wow this looks amazing! The 'snow' looks real. Great job. I think I really need to get myself a 3D printer one of these days, and make all the ideas I have a reality at some point.

Thanks all, it was a fun project.

At this tiny scale you need an airbrush to paint the bodies. I use a cheap nail salon compressor and equally cheap airbrush off ebay to shoot Tamiya paint and thinner. For the tires some Tamiya black and a paintbrush or a black Sharpie marker. Then some Tamiya brown and black weathering liquid to bring out the panel lines.

These look better than Herpa’s IMHO. You should make some extra and sell them, I’d buy some.

That may be the most amazing diorama I have seen in 15 years. Well done.

That looks fantastic for 1/400! The snow equipment and belt loaders are beyond anything available in 1/200. Have you thought of upscaling them and selling?

Wow, I am flattered that you guys like my diorama. I read a lot of the critical airplane reviews and was hesitant to post this thread.

I made them all available on Shapeways in 400, 200, 285, and sometimes 160 scales. I try to do a new model every week or 2. My last focus was road/runway construction vehicles. I like weird and random vehicles and did an Ikarus 695 recently.
