Default April arrivals : the good, the bad, and the ugly

As title suggests, the quality of the few models I bought this month was, well, random. Out of five, four came from Aeroclassics, and one from Gemini. Let's start with the good ones : Citylink A320neo and Aviacsa 727.

Very nicely done, definitely a keeper.

At last a classic Aviacsa ! A F100 would have been even better, but I don't see GJ or JC releasing one anytime soon (maybe they'll prove me wrong ?...). Tail logo is a bit simplified, but it's still decent.

Now the not so good, as unfortunately I feared : TDA DC-9.

Nice airframe, we know AC's is very good, nice printing but wrong color : green is almost black, which is far from reality. Picture do make this green appear a bit darker than it really is, but it's way too dark anyway. The weird part of this is that reg and underwing titles color (green too) don't look too far from the real thing. A miss from AC, too bad as it's one I was waiting for.

And now, the rest...
Mexicana A319 and Austrian Arrows F100. They COULD have been great :

At first glance everything looks ok, nice model nice printing (even windows line is straight !...), but then :

At first I thought it was only a matter of an engine with not enough glue having moved during transport, but when I tried to put it back in place I realised it was firmly glued this way : no way to move it without risking to snap the pylon. Bad QC, it will return to seller, hoping a replacement is still available.

And last but not least :

I guess most of you already noticed what's wrong here. If not, here it is :

Yeah, a starboard engine mounted on port side ! Second time I see this (first one was an old AF EMB-145). Back to seller ASAP too.

Honestly I may be out of luck, but it seems QC, whatever brand, is pretty bad lately. Our models are not cheap, and we're not talking about a small paint chip or slightly off colors, the least we can expect is correct models. And no poor excuses for the bad ones, but real customer service. AFAIK retailers are affected by the associated losses from these bad models, I wonder if they get any compensation from manufacturers ?

Thanks for the photos. It has become such a lottery recently hasn't it? The Austrian is particularly atrocious - what a cockup.

Thank you, Mystere, for the pictures and assessments. A lottery, indeed. As I noted in the April AC thread, there are models I haven't bought--like the awful AC Oman Air A310--because of the mistakes. In that case, the colors were *way* off. I fortunately do pretty well on the QC front, haven't had to send a model back for that in a while.

This is so disappointing to see. QC is certainly suffering in some areas at the moment, it's a shame that these dud models are making it through to the retailers without being caught first.

Don't send it back. Maybe it's correct?

Unfortunately, when it comes to preordering any holy grail site unseen that may sell out before release I've resorted to ordering two. Send the inevitable screw up back or if it's not that bad give it away or sell it if it's fine.

This one obviously is a keeper. One of a kind. Very rare. $500 or best offer.

Copilot: Captain! We've lost the left engine!
Captain: Not to worry.

I wonder who received the one with two right side engines...

You might be on something. After all, coin and stamp collectors do seek this kind of mistakes and are ready to pay big money for them...

I'll have to inspect my Austrian tonight. I didn't catch that flaw.
