TF-GAY: What registration would you give your plane?
Unfortunately Icelandic Wow Air have just scrapped their flights from my local Bristol Airport which connected to North America. So I commemorated the event by buying this colourful A330 (JC Wings), registration TF-GAY. Their website says that TF-GAY was so registered to support gay rights, and that this plane often visits San Francisco and Amsterdam! Their other fun registrations include TF-WOW (obviously), JOY, LUV, NEO, SKY etc.
My father used to fly for Cathay Pacific who had a similar penchant for registrations. Their first jumbo freighter was VR-HVY (very heavy), and their flagship 744 was VR-HKG (very Hong Kong). Unfortunately since handover, they’ve all had to re-register with Chinese numbers preceded with ‘B’.
Virgin Atlantic does something similar with G-VFAB, VBIG, VNEW and so on.
If you had your own plane, what registration would you choose for it?

Coincidentally G-BUSH also carried a 'Backing the bid' legend which referred to the London 2012 Olympics bid, but was worn in the early-mid 2000's around one of Dubya's re-election campaigns. The reg of course was coincidental and part of the G-BUS* sequence of original A320 aircraft ordered, inherited by BA from British Caledonian, late 80's.
BA of course has a history of fleet appropriate aircraft reg's in recent times. Most of the current A320 family fleet have G-EU** reg's. There's a sizeable fleet of 772's with the G-VII* reg, 'VII' being roman numeral for '7'. The 'extra large european aircraft' was expressed on the first A380, G-XLEA. And we can also go back to the Concorde registration sequence as decided by the goverment for BOAC. I think their 767 fleet also referred to 'Boeing New Widebody Aircraft' (G-BNWA etc).
