Question Piedmont Airlines

I would like to get an idea how many collectors would be interested in Piedmont Airlines 727-200 and/or a 767-200. I emailed GJ since they did the 737-200 of Piedmont and ask them if they thought we might see it. Of course got the usuall no plans for it so far.

I personlly would love to see it being I worked for them back before the USAir bought them out.

My preference would be the Piedmont 767-200. Did they ever fly a 300?

I thought that Piedmont only operated 767-200ER's not -300's!

I would love the see more Piedmont models. The B767 would be great but so would a B727 and a B737-200 in delivery colors. I have the impression that Gemini's B737 didn't sell very well so the best chance may be Aeroclassics. What do you think, Andrew?

Count me in on anything Piedmont. I grew up as a Piedmont brat.
Thus my seething hated for US Air.

I would love the 727 most of all. But any will do just fine by me.

R. Minor,

I grew up a PI brat too! I would love to see anything PI, but particularly the YS-11 and F-28. Vikings did a custom 727-200 and 767 for me, and I did the 737-200 and 727-100 delivery schemes. I am working on a 737-300.

Default Piedmont B737-401

Don't you forget the Piedmont B737-401 - the launch customer and 1st operator?
Even I got the GJ Piedmont B737-200, but Piedmont B737-401 is the one I want most.
What is the delivery c/s for B737-401? The white one or the metal one like this: http://www.airliners.net/open.file/230162/M/

Don't bother emailing GJ--they don't have molds for most of Piedmont's fleet---talk to DW!

I'd like: (Well, actually would love--I like Piedmont a LOT)

767-200ER White

727-200 white

727-100 or 737-200 delivery colors

737-300 or 737-400 white or bare--how about one of each? (Seems bare was more common than white for the last 2 years or so, but white had been used for over a decade) (as was said, they're the -400 launch customer, and I LOVE launch customers)

The bare metal is the final, final scheme---when they were bought by USAir, but still not merged. Much like the last TWA/AA 717's and 757's, late deliveries of the 737 and 767 were delivered in bare-metal schemes instead of the "parent" airline's white-top scheme.

You'll also find an *even later* variant--it's the bare metal scheme, but with a USAir-triple-red stripe (you'll find this on several types of 737 and the 767) (give me normal colors, not variants--this photo here only for educational purposes)

PS--don't forget the Fokkers!

Thumbs down Talk to DW? Huh Duh

EXTREMELY a waste of time talking with DW!

Talk to Gemini Jets or Gemini Jets jr!

and.........Look below........

By the way I also grew up having Piedmont 732 and 733 around my area for so many years til US airway took over.

I would welcome 727, 733, and 762.

Do they ever fly 757? I am not so sure?

A Piedmont 727-200 by GJ and 767-200 by DW would be really nice!

I was born in Gastonia and went to High School in Greensboro. My brother was given one share of Piedmont stock as a gift when he was born (and I ended up being the aviation enthusiast of the family - go figure!), so Heck Yeah, I'd be up for anything Piedmont.

I would also be up for anything from any other North Carolina carriers, such as Eastwind or Midway (most recent incarnation).

Methinks another 727-100 mold is coming
which would be well-suited for Piedmont......

PI737,

Perhaps I should have him make me a few customs also. Those were the days weren't they?

Good idea about the 737-401 a must have I would say. I am kind of hoping that Mr. Klein will do a PI 732 in the bare metal scheme.
Do you remember that?

It was all bare metal with a red cheatline and a red PI logo on the tail.

Ron,

I was flying the 737-200/300/400 just prior to the merger. I have several pictures of the DAY hub with all of the various schemes parked at the gates. I'll try to find it and post it. Your right, those were the days.

727-100 or 737-200 delivery colors

***
I think Piedmont's delivery colors are among the classiest liveries out there, second only to the colors with which North Central took delivery of its DC-9's. Perhaps we will see all of these liveries emerge from SMA or Aeroclassics at some point...

David,

Those are some nice photos. Thanks for posting... I agree, they are very classy.

Tony,

Would love to see those photos. Did you ever fly into CRW?

Ron,

My first day as a 737 F/O went CLT-ORD-CRW-DCA-RDU IN N734N, Piedmont Pacemaker. That was June 1987. I've been into CRW many times in the 737-200 and F-28. One of the many great cities that no longer have mainline service.

Flying out of Huntington, WVA (Ashland, KY) for years and years, Piedmont was always the main carrier. Of course then, I have a couple of the GJ 737's, but if anyone truly wanted to make me happy (AK?!?!?), we'd soon see Piedmont's F-27's and YS-11's!!!!
