Finally, finally, finally. I've been waiting for that jetBlue E-190 for so long.

OK, so some advice please: whose Hekla Aurora do I buy - Herpa or Gemini? I don't care if there's a little bit of plastic on the Herpa or not. I'm looking for vivid, beautiful colour.

Great set of releases for the US collectors. Note the Icelandair is only available in limited quantities so will most probably be sold out before release date. So I recommend not waiting until June if you want one.

The 1/400's are certainly more interesting to me than the 1/200's this month. And an E4-B too!

By far the best set of releases I've ever seen, I don't remember the last time I pre-ordered 9 models!

Wow ! ! ! A Hawaiian A330-200 ! I haven't seen one of these from the release from four months ago. Better hurry and purchase one before it's released again in another five months.

Ordered the JetBlue E190 that I've long been awaiting, and the Alaska 738 in the new livery. I like to have a representative of each US carrier's current livery.

Where's the vintage stuff??????? Don't get me wrong, nice set of releases, but for us "pre-2000 collectors"(which I understand there may not be many of us), nothing worthwhile here): Have to rely on Andrew again this month!

This month, Andrew's released mostly current-day Chinese Airbuses. There is a Saudia 707. I figure some months of current-day B-reg models is the price of getting all the terrific classics AC makes.

What I want for classics from Gemini are the things only they/JC have moulds for--Convair 580, Dash 8, BAC-111. Aeroclassics has an F-27 mould as well as most of the jets, so I'd prefer they do those. But there are lots of commuter / regional aircraft Gemini can do, like the terrific Allegheny Convair they did not too long ago.

I felt sure Gemini would release a United 727-100 in delivery scheme, to mark the aircraft flown to the Seattle Museum of Flight recently.

How many more Delta, Hawaiian and Alaska models are they going to make....???

Alaska 737-800, American Embraer 190, Delta A321, and JetBlue Embraer 190 for me. Wow, I don't think I've ever purchased four new releases in the same month before. Nice bunch, though I would have loved even more to have seen some '80s and '90s U.S. stuff mixed in. Nothing but the most current of the current....again.

As of Sunday, every available piece (in the U.S.) of the 1:400 Icelandair has been spoken for. The only way to get one in late May (when it will be physically available) will be if a retailer is holding 1 or more back to sell later on, or when someone puts it up on ebay once they actually have the model.

Nick, do you know how many were produced? I heard this release was a limited one. Why would Gemini release less in quantity of a model that will sell like hotcakes rather than the usual 2500 units?

A FANTASTIC month for Gemini 1/400. I will be purchasing the Alaska 737-800 in new livery, AA 737-800 in TWA scheme, AA ERJ-190, Delta A321, and the Icelandair 757-200. Keep up the great work Gemini!!

Nick is correct that Icelandair pre-orders are going fast. It is not often that EZToys is sold out on pre-order but it is in this case. I show pre-ordering accepted still at Waffle, ARD and Aviation Center Berlin but not sure if that means it is guaranteed.

Really hope this is a wake up call and opens the door for more 1:400 scale Icelandair / Flugfelag /Loftleidir models. The regular Gemini Jets Icelandair 757-300 also goes for very high prices when it comes up for sale on Ebay.

the popularity of Hekla Aurora has to be somewhat unrelated to demand for Icelandair in general. There are going to be lots of people getting this model because the livery is awesome, even though Icelandair is outside their collection criteria.

GJ could add the Icelandair 767-300 and their normal livery 757-200 to their production docket. They would do quite well too. The Hekla is sold-out in the US now...amazing.

To be honest Icelandair definetly fits my collection criteria and I'd like more examples of their fleet and history in my collection. They have operated into my local airport 'GLA' on an almost daily basis for decades and in fact began their Scottish business operating a flight by PBY Catalina flying boat to nearby Largs Bay, post 2nd world war.

Icelanders traditionally flock to Glasgow to go shopping and during the recent Volcanic disruption, which closed Icelandic airspace, their entire fleet de-camped to GLA to continue operations from there.

Wiki quote
Quote:
The fleet was expanded with a Beechcraft Model 18 in 1942, and with two de Havilland Dragon Rapide[8] as well as one U.S.-made Consolidated PBY Catalina in 1944, the latter being the first ever aircraft registered in Iceland to be flown to Iceland by an Icelandic crew from North America.[9] On 11 July 1945, this aircraft operated the first commercial flight over the Atlantic Ocean for the airline, which led from Reykjavík to Largs in Scotland, with four passengers and four crew members on board. Regular flights to Prestwick Airport, Scotland and Copenhagen in Denmark, using B-24 Liberator aircraft leased from Scottish Airlines were launched in 1946
I'll happily take some of these if they ever get produced by someone, but most certainly a standard livery 757-200 for starters.

Why is Icelandair so popular? We can't possibly have so many Icelandic collectors here.

Well they serve many airports around Europe and North America so must fit many collection criteria for those of us who collect stuff associated with our local airport, as I've described in my above post.

But as I said, this is more than just Icelandair. It's one of the most compelling special liveries that we've ever seen. I'm getting one, but not because Icelandair fits in my collection. I'm getting it because it's awesome.

Well it seems that demand was so high that Gemini decided to do a second run. This might explain why you all see that pre-orders are back on at Eztoys and Waffle.

This screenshot comes from the EZtoys website and provides details on the second run.

Indeed but I'm talking about the various comments I've seen here and elsewhere from collectors stating they'd also like a standard livery 752. Some of which were posted long before the Hekla Aurora livery was ever conceived.

I see on ARD's website that delivery is now not expected until the autumn. Has anyone in Europe had theirs ?
