Default Request for Aeroclassics: Northeastern A300

Another in my periodic series of targeted requests for Aeroclassics. Yes, I don't approve of President Obama's policies or his disdain for his opponents, either.

Northeastern International Airways is a quintessential early United States Deregulation-era startup. It was based in Fort Lauderdale, FL. Like many startups of the raucus first decade of nationwide fare-route freedom in the United States, Northeastern started big, grew fast, and folded up fast--founded in 1980, liquidated in 1986.

Northeastern flew a fleet of 727's, DC-8's, and A300's between New York City airports and Florida, and served some scattered airports across the south and West--Los Angeles, San Diego, New Orleans and Las Vegas, plus some oddball medium-size airports such as Tulsa, Oklahoma City, and Little Rock.

Aeroclassics has already brought us Northeastern's two most colorful aircraft: 727-100's painted in pink and blue "Cloud" schemes.

I would like to request that Aeroclassics also do the airline's Airbus A300. it's not as colorful as the 727's, but it's a neat 80's cheatline scheme and a good representative of the early USA Deregulation era.

It's a jumbo jet, and Andrew has had the A300 mould out recently.
According to the DAC database, this aircraft has never been done in 1:400. Aeroclassics' own database shows that they have done only the two 727's, which have also been done by 400 Aviation.

Here's the aircraft. What do others think?

They had DC-8s too - I'd take an A300

This appears to be the actual paint scheme of Northeastern's DC-8's. Many of the photos at Airliners.net show them in hybrid schemes of airlines from which they were presumably leased or acquired. I'd take a Northeastern DC-8, too.

I'll take those, but don't forget the other 727s.

I flew on this guy on their inaugural MDW-PIE service. Not sure if it ever became a regular route or how long it lasted (I haven't been able to find it in any timetable), but I'll always remember that gold cheatline glistening in the Florida sun.

Absolutely! I would love to see any USA local service carrier of the 1970's or 1980's, including Mississippi Valley! DAC, DiMa, and Aeroclassics databases do not show anyone ever having done Mississippi Valley / MVA in 1:400. Maybe Aeroclassics could do a Shorts 330 mould, MVA is one of many carriers they could do.

Is it just me, or is the MVA paint scheme white below the bottom blue cheatline, and cream-colored above it?

( Still watching for the Aeroclassics Air New England F-27 on E-Bay and elsewhere. )

As long as we're talking F-27's, Brockway Air, which had a hub in Binghamton, NY in the early 1980's and later became a Piedmont regional carrier, would be a good candidate. Surprisingly, Airliners.net has no pictures of their F-27's, only a Beechcraft 1900. I remember seeing one of their F-27's at ROC. Again, DiMA, DAC, and Aeroclassics databases show no one ever having done a Brockway Air F-27 in 1:400.

for Aeroclassics I wouldn't mind a reissue of the FDX A300 in their current colours.

I've wondered how we got the puffy cloud Northeastern 727s and nothing else. Not a long lasting or well-known carrier, but plenty of less successful carriers (and much more dull schemes) have been done.

Definitely want the other 727 and the A300.

Totally want an MVA model as well.
Can Simmons be far behind if MVA is done?*
Dare I mention Midstate?

*Please, pretty please. That'd fill out the O'hare motif quite well.

I completely second Simmons and Midstate.

For Simmons, who has a YS-11 or Shorts 360 mould these days?

Airliners.net doesn't even have a listing for Midstate? Did nobody really get a picture of them at O'Hare?

Here's a picture of Midstate F-27's from my March 11, 1985 timetable, plus the facing page of schedules. Aeroclassics has the mould for this one.

I read Airline Pasionado by Robert C. Booth and he offers a brief but interesting glimpse into Steve Quinto's Northeastern. Quinto hired Booth as Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer in 1984.

As Jim pointed out, the airline grew too fast and couldn't sustain itself. The best thing about AC's NE 727 releases was a unique opportunity to place these models with time period operations on your airport layout.
