Default Just Landed - My "Holy Grail"

For years (4? 5?) I've waited for this lovely Midway Aeroclassics DC-9 to come up at a collection sale, but all I ever saw was the "Netmodels" version.

It became my Holy Grail - the model I wanted to find the most.

A few months ago, I noticed a retailer was still carrying this model, but I couldn't pull the trigger - too easy....I wanted to "hunt" this one, not have it served to me on a silver platter.

Then last week, Nick had a collection sale at Jetway and I scored 4 beautiful models and they arrived in perfect, mint shape including my Midway DC-9

And here she is....I saw the -10 version at Madison, WI as a teen when boarding a Midwest Express DC9 for Milwaukee (short flight!) What a morning...so many DC-9s all departing at once, even a Northwest flight to Green Bay. Good times!

Thanks Canopy - the rest of tonight's arrivals...

Aeroclassics 737-300 Continental - meatballs rule!

A Vignelli scheme 767-200 without winglets - should have been easy to score, but wasn't - I love it.

And last a SMAC Metrojet 737-200

It took about the same amount of time for you to pull the trigger as it took image conscious Midway Airlines to finally settle on this clean looking color scheme.

You made mention of boarding Kimberly-Clark's Midwest Express which I noticed in the pic. I had to read further on this airline and found it interesting that in 2002, they shortened their name to Midwest. At the same time, they changed their commuter subsidiary to Midwest Connect. Both changes closely followed Midway's old monikers.

Then I stumbled on Midstate Airlines and found myself in the Middle of the Road...Wo-wo-wo-wo-wo-wo-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-oah....

Congratulations, Steve! It's great to see you got the AC Midway red-bottom DC-9 at last. Here's the same bird in my Rochester collection. Midway bought Eastern's PHL hub in 1989 while Frank Lorenzo was choking EA to fund CO. Midway served Rochester from that hub until, I think, their shutdown in 1991.

Thanks all! Jim - what is the scoop on the meatball 737-200?

Your model collection rocks -of course, we have similar tastes.
