Default The battle of the Queens nose.... :) (747)

I have recently purchased the Phoenix KLM Boeing 747-400 and I found it was a good idea to take some pictures of the various 747's in my collection...
There was a lot of discussion about the nose of the Phoenix 747...

So here are some comparison pictures...

First between the KLM 747 and the real queen the GJ 747 BA

And now the BA 747 (GJ) and the 747-8i Lufthansa (GJ)

The Lufthansa 747-8i (GJ) and the KLM 747 (PH)

The Kalitta 747-4F (GJ) and the KLM 747 (PH)

And finally the BA 747 (GJ) and the Kalitta 747-4F

I hope it was at use for someone.
If not, I enjoyed taking some pictures of them

Have a nice day!

side by side it's clear that PH still has work to do to it's mould...

Have Phoenix modified their mould for a third time? The nosegear appears to be not as badly placed as before which is my biggest reservation with the Phoenix mould. For what I mean see:

Diecast Model Aircraft (DiMA)

None of these look great. The best 747-400 moulds (and noses) are the Apollo and Dragon Wings in that order.

Like the 737NG the 747-400 is plagued by a series of pretty poor moulds in 1:400. Why do these manufacturers find it so hard to get the nose right?

The nose on the 747-8i there is particularly odd.

The JG 747 nose is better than Phx, it's right, but about these mould, despite this problem, I prefer Phx 747 mould, even I don't buy any 747 from these editors. My next will be a JCW 200 scale.

Wow, unbelievably similar. I own each of these moulds and I would have never noticed a difference between any of them had you not posted the photos.

Nice Queens Pieter! Are there any that you like more or less? Judging 747's nose and windscreen areas was always difficult for me. Your pictures definitely show the details, but i always loved my Phoenix releases just as much as my Gemini, Aeroclassics, or Dragons. But there isn't much love for PHX 747's from what i remember...

I tend to agree with the PHX profile...the rest of of the finish on their models is quite good, with the exception of wheels and antenna's falling off!

I've never been a fan of the 747, therefore I don't have any in my collection. That's why I'm glad that I don't have to choose between manufacturer models which all seem to have some sort of weakness or limitation in their nose and gear design. Can it be so hard to get that shape right?

That's an outrageous statement and you should immediately be banned from the site!!!

Anyway I am surprised at how accepting you all are of some unimpressive moulds - though to be fair there are several missing like the later Gemini and previous Phoenixes and Jc Wings and the Witty Wings.

For me the two best moulds in this area as I said are the Dragon Wings / Jet-X and the Apollo (not the same as the Witty Wings). I have taken a few photos here for a comparison:

Comparing the 747's...
GJ = Good Job
PH = Pretty Horrible
