Default Ixo Models Virgin Atlantic inflight sales

Has anyone got any info, pics, reviews or opinions on the once available 1:400 range of airliner models produced by Ixo, the model car maker for Virgin Atlantic inflight sales before Gemini Jets took over the contract ?

I had the 747-400 and A340-600. They are poor quality. Poor moulds, shabby printing and terrible undercarriage. More like toys than collectors models. I gave mine to my friends kids. Avoid! hope this helps!

OTOH, I was once shown their 1:1000 scale models from a friend, and they're actually quite nice for that size!

The A346 looks decent enough. Gears ruin it for the other two.

Thanks for the pictures Alaska Fan, are they fully metal moulds ? I was offered the A343 for sale but not sure I'll bother now.

I had the A346, I believe only the fuselage was metal but I may be wrong. Wings, stabs and fin were definitely plastic.

As an airline collector piece, they aren't bad really. For a serious diecast collector... maybe not so much.

And the A346 landing gear has a DW vibe to it as well. The only thing that is stopping me from declaring all of these as DWs are the gears of the other two models and the fact all of them have a really odd looking nose and the cockpit printing reminding me of a late 1990s/early 2000s era herpa 1:500 scale model. Though the A346 actually looks decent enough on that count. Going to have to compare some photos of DW A346s, as I have a feeling if this isn't THE A346 mould they had, it could be a copy. It has all the hallmarks of a DragonWings model.

they are like a weird mix of Gemini Jets and Dragon Wings models.

the 744 looks like it was cloned (poorly) off of Gemini's 744
the A343 looks like it was badly cloned from Dragon's A343
the A346 is its own thing ... and is pretty decent

here's a closeup of nose of A346 "Cloud Claudia Nine"
