Default Models in Kuala Lumpur near Renaissance Hotel

Hey guys, one of my friends is on a school trip to Kuala Lumpur and I was wondering if there are any shops that sell 1/400 model airplanes at the following malls:

a. Amcorp Mall
b. Pavillion Mall
c. Suria KLCC mall

He won't be able to go to My Hobby House nor Dai Kong as they are too far away. Thank you very much for your help!

Hello

There's aren't any in any of these malls. But since he will be at the Pavilion, Dai Kong is only 10 minutes drive away since it's within the city.

Agreed on all replies above.

But a lil doodlings I might add, Suria KLCC mall USED to have a very nice model shop back in early millennium called Nikko. They sell lots of fine die-cast car from autoart, sunstar etc & airplanes from DW & GJ mostly... I used to frequent there just for window shopping cuz no fat wallet in ma pocket.. those models were so pricey back in the day while still in school!

You mentioned Amcorp mall, they have a flea market on Sundays, 12.00 pm to 7 I think.. most of them selling vintage 80-00's toys & I can't recall any sellers selling model airplanes though. Most of em' are Star Wars/Transformers geeks lol

MASonatic is correct

back in 1998 until 2005, there used to be Tamiya and Toy City at Suria KLCC which carries quiet good stock of Gemini Jets and Star Jets. Phoenix and Dragon Wings is stocked up by Nikko which used to be in the same mall.

Is Dai Kong still in business in KL? I remember seeing a healthy selection there, but that was over 3 years ago.

As a matter of fact, everyone who visit KL, should give sometimes to visit Daikong. This shop has so much hidden treasure. I found some rare items and extremely reasonable price. Raymond the owner of Daikong also very friendly fellow that would help you out throughout the shop. Just make sure you call him 1st to make an appt. He's a one man show and as far as I know he doesn;t have any employee. If anyone needs his mobile number, do PM me.

Dai Kong shop has moved one floor up. The new shop is much bigger and now you can see models are nicely displayed.

Thank you guys for the great support. We hope to be above to prove best service we can for local and overseas collectors. Unfortunately due to the increase of air parcel rates the shipping by air has increase quite a bit.

Renaissance Hotel is not far from our showroom as a few collectors came by monorail. Opposite the hotel there is a Monorail station (Bukit Nanas st #8). Get on to platform 2 and take the route to Maharajalela st # 3). When you reach the station exit and walk across the bridge and walk down the stair case. From there you will see Gird 19 hotel and you just walk straight until you reach Mirama Hotel. At Mirama Hotel you will see Pretron/Shell Station and we are exactly behind the Shell st. 2nd building 106-A, First floor, Jalan Choo Cheng Khay. All it take is 7 mins walking distance from the Monorail st.

You can pm us what you need before you come as that is what most of the other collectors do before they visit Malaysia.

Raymond

Ah, now you explained the very fine detail on how to reach your shop! Thank you so much Mr Raymond!

Means a lot to me because, the furthest BB area that I dare to jaunt is Time Square only. After that, I'm lost & hostile, cars speeding along the road that I can't slow down to scan where your shop is.. lol

So next time, monorail for me!

Those were good times, Mr Azuddin!

Also, for model kits enthusiasts, Hobby HQ is the deal in KL! Used to stashed in the now born-again mall (aka Intermark mall), they've since moved to F&N biz park which God knows why, such shop located in a place like that! Very hard to reach 2 be honest
