Default Sgtmoody's 1:400 Singapore Airlines Collection

Hello guys, Its been a while since i posted photos of my collection. Although im pretty active on the forums i did not have much time to take photos. After the arrival of some new models(such as the Apollo 77W) I've found some time to take my collection photos.

My collection criteria is Singapore based airlines since its my home country. I collect Singapore Airlines in both 1:200 and 1:400. SQ is my favourite airline and also my flag carrier. Anyway onwards with the photos, you may click on them for a bigger picture!

We start with the A380 fleet.

Top Row: Phx 9V-SKK, 9V-SKE, 9V-SKA
Bottom Row: Yourcraftsman Msn005 x 2

A310/330/340 Fleet

Back Row: Phx A333 9V-STH, AC A333 9V-STF, AC A343 9V-SJB, GJ A343 9V-SJE
Front Row: Phx A345 9V-SGA, DW A345 9V-SGC, DW A345 9V-SGB, DW A310 9V-STQ

Boeing 747 Fleet

4th Row: (All DW) 744F 9V-SFD, 744 9V-SPP, 744 9V-SMZ, 744 9V-SMU, 744 9V-SMT, 744 9V-SMC
3rd Row: Apollo 744F 9V-SFE, Jet-x 742F 9V-SQU, Jet-x 742 9V-SQS, DW 742 9V-SIA, DW 742 9V-SQJ, DW 743 N123KJ

1st Row: Phx 744 9V-SPK, Phx 744 9V-SPL, DW 744 9V-SPL, DW 744 9V-SPK

Interesting thing to note: On the DW tropicals, SPL has a heart shape in front of the vertical stabiliser while SPK's is rounded. Not sure if this is true on the real planes

Boeing 777 Fleet

Hello neighbour! I cant help but marvel at them every time i see them in the morning, they are inspirational to me(although costly as well). I've seen pretty impressive fleets of MH and AirAsia, not to mention all the special liveries!

Sgt,
I have a question for you. How do the new Apollo releases compare to PHX releases for the 773ER? Insane SQ collection you have there btw!

Hello plane737, from my perspective they are a great alternative to Phoenix models. Although they come without antennas, they do have slight better engines and engine detailing and shape. i do feel they have oversized tires and the billboard titles might be slightly too small. That being said, if i didnt list them as Apollo models would you be able to tell the difference from the pictures?

I'll do a proper comparison of SWA vs SWD/SWT when i have time. Im still on the hunt for the other albino 9V-SWI though

Thank you. I would never had noticed the difference. Some people like the antennas, I personally don't care one way or the other. On another thread I said I would try one of Apollos 773ER's, I will buy the Star Alliance for sure.

Impressive collection! Very neatly taken photos as well!

Wished I could find the energy to start taking photos.

All the best in hunting for the remaining birds! If I am not wrong, SQC 707, and the two A300B4s?

Im sure you wouldn't regret having that in your collection! Its a great alternative to Phoenix 777.

Thanks mate! Thats a nice collection in your signature as well! The SQC 707 and A300B4s would be quite hard to find for a good price, but patience has given me rare models with very decent prices. I dont mind the wait though!

Very Nice Pictures and the collection is grand.
Info on the MN a380s would be appreciated as I think I am missing those two plus the concorde. I gave up hope on that concorde.

Once again beautifully done.

Jees! That's a pretty impressive collection, but are they on display permanentaly or just removed from their boxes for these photos?
My 9V- collection comprises just the types that flew or fly to London - SIA B707s, 747,DC-10 and A380 plus the GJ SIA/BA Concorde. I suspect the DW 'fantasy' Concorde was not intended as such as they probably thought it was painted in SIA colours on BOTH sides!
Still need Aeroclassics SIA B742 and DC-10 with "California here we come" logo, if anyone knows where I can find these?

Thanks Arin! Those msn005 A380s are made by Yourcraftsman. Quality is pretty poor but the model is quite heavy even with plastic wings. I was fortunate to be able to find them on sale on a chinese website named Taobao for about USD15 each when i was in china. Both models are exactly the same except for that grey rectangle on the tail. I am extremely fortunate to find the concorde on ebay for a mere USD50! Otherwise i would never have dreamt of owning that model, its so rare!

Thanks Adrian! Most of my models are on permanent display. I believe that models should be display, keeping them in boxes would be quite wasteful in my opinion! I do have a handful of models stored in boxes as i have run out of space in my small cabinet. Since i live with my family i dont have space to expand my display area which is quite unfortunate haha!

Here are some photos of my display cabinet, the cabinet is from Ikea's BESTA line and are about 38cm deep(good for 1:200s). Coupled with LED lights and glass shelves, they are worth every penny in my opinion!

This is what i drool to everyday

Sorry for the dusty photos! They were taken impromptu haha!

Most impressed! I have checked our Ikea stores here in UK and these Besta cabinets are available and worth checking out. There are three variations and one is about 20cm deep, so ideal for 1/400 models.

Awesome collection and well presented - which models are you looking for? Maybe i can help you.. To me the DW A310 set with the SIA GSE is a great thing with the 9V catering and tow truck..

Thanks Thomas! My DW A310 is the version without the GSE, i hope AC can come up with a decent A310 mould though! Most of the models im left to collect are the rare and more expensive ones, mainly the AC 742/DC10/A300/A330/707F, I lack a phoenix 77W 9V-SWI star alliance in my fleet too.

After a few months of intense arrivals im trying to take a backseat for once and am only purchasing new releases haha! My wallet needs to get fatter!

Excellent collection!

I only have a few SQ planes and one of each from Scoot, TR and MI.

SQ in 1:400 - 9V-SKA, 9V-SKK, 9V-SKI (SG50), 9V-SGD, 9V-SWH & 9V-SPL (Tropical).

MI in 1:400 - 9V-MGA (SilkAir 25th Anniversary).

TR in 1:400 - 9V-TRK.

Scoot in 1:400 - 9V-OJA.

All are from PHX and I've another one in 1:200 - G-BOAD (SQ/BA Concorde) from Hogan.

In fact I only collect specific SQ planes and I still don't have an A333 (9V-STV) which I didn't wish to buy. But your collection is impressive!! Now where's the SG50 A380s in your collection?

Now I'm just awaiting the new SQ A359 to arrive (9V-SMA).

Thanks guys! Even though the pictures are more than 2 years old, it's really good to look at them again. Within these two years I've added a lot more models to the collection especially in the 1:200 section.

@Snow eagle: that's very good! As a SQ fleet builder i pretty much have almost all the models. I did skip some of the recent phoenix releases due to appalling qc though! I have Phoenix 9V-SKI and JC 9V-SKI but i skipped phoenix SKJ as the graphics is wrong. SKI and SKJ actually have slightly different livery. Coincidentally JC's SKI paint scheme is actually SKJ's livery so I've treated that as my SKJ haha!

@Surinam_Air747: Thanks! I think I am very privileged to be able to display most of my collection in my cabinet right above my workstation at home. Airplanes are a great source of inspiration!

Seriously?? I didn't even took note of that even though I'm working in SIAEC. I always thought they're the same. But how are they different?

Yes, only very very slightly though! I've circled them in green, really must count rivets to see(SKI top SKJ bottom). But the main difference is the small 'kink' at the bottom. photo credits to Anet and the respective photographers

Ahhh....might be the way the decals were applied. But in general both are still similar liveries.

But thanks for pointing that out.

By the way, your B777 fleet's first 77W in Star Alliance livery should be 9V-SWJ instead of SMJ?

I see, I've seen the 1:200 scale for SWJ (or SWI) and it's really very nice! I've also seen the 1:400 A380 in factory primer coating but didn't buy it as it was not as detailed as I expected. So A380 wise, I always buy Phoenix and I'm a Phoenix fan too.

Out of all my small collection, I only have one 1:400 by Dragon Wings which is MAS 9M-MRD Heliconia livery. Bought that as it was the only piece at that time and also to commemorate MH17.

By the way what do you think about Scoot's SG50 9V-OJE? Didn't purchase that as I thought the livery was boring and the multiple red spots made it look like it has measles!

I use to be a phoenix fan. Until they started putting antennas and the QC went downhill after that. A380 wise they still have the best mould in 1;400, closely followed by witty/apollo. I didnt purchase the measles plane! I would recommend getting either 9V-OTE or 9V-OTC by phoenix, good models! JC wings silkair b738 9V-MGB is also another jem i would recommend! If you like classics, Aeroclassic SQ A300 is a must have!

My first Phoenix model was the 9V-SKA A380 and I know their early models do not have any antennas, but later ones up to now have and I prefer them to have too, looks more realistic.

Out of all my PHX models, the most solidly-built (and quite hefty) is 9V-SPL (antenna-less). At that time I wanted to get SPK as it was the tragic SQ006 plane but wasn't available. Now I know PHX re-issued both 9V-SPK and SPL with antennas and was also said the colour is more accurate.

Scoot's OT series (now only left OTC and OTD in service, with one more de-leasing) are their pioneer aircraft but not very interested in their B772. SQ classic planes wise, yeah I suppose their A300/310 series are nice but couldn't find 9V-STP which was their hijacked aircraft in the early 90s.

It's a bit sad that most of the batch are beginning to have problems with the paint, a few of my friends also have this problem. Good luck to you on your find!

The only pieces I have which have a bit of paint 'wrinkling' are the older PHX models (1st batch) and only affect the wings. These models are 9V-SKA, 9V-SWH and 9V-SGD. Ironically my 9V-SPL does not get affected in any way.
