This is a very early GJ release and they were very popular.
Have you got entire series of world tails that GJ produced?
I think there is at least 7-8 747's out there which you can find here and there! The cheapest and easiest version to find is the Wunala twin pack - I've seen that go for really cheap prices....
I think the Scottish tail also was released on the 772...

There's also a 3 pack 727 set with England, Scotland and Sweden tails. I have the set coming in this week or next.

That's pretty cool. I didn't like the world tails at first, but I'm starting to appreciate them more. When more funds (and space!) are available, I intend to acquire every GJ world tail.

This (along with a Dragon Wings Braniff B747-100) was my very first 1:400 purchase about 14 years ago! Purchased from the shop on the viewing gallery on top of the Queen's Building at LHR

Don't forget that BB also released a stack of world tails also. They are by far the best out there...although they cost a small fortune these days.
I think AV400 also released a few 767's as well.

The thing about BB/AC 747s is that most people use the excuse of them being the "best" 747 models to sell them at exorbitant prices (with some prime examples on ebay!). Sure I'd want some in my collection, but I'm definitely not paying more than US$70-80 for one. Even the GJs are getting a little too pricey these days.

I (think) I have every Gemini and Big Bird Utopia tail 747 released with the exception of the Water Dreaming and Waves & Cranes examples which are impossible to track down at reasonable cost so I might go down the custom route if someone will do them for me. I may be wrong, but I think between them, GJ/BB did all the 747's that BA actually did in terms of Utopia tails, (not every actual reg of course) apart from the Irish Colum White example.... So that's defo one that someone could release.

As for the Scottish theme, I also have the AV400 767 and 732, the Gemini 727 and 777. They look pretty good all posed together in a photo.

I don't think anyone has released the Scottish Benyhone Tartan 747-400 in British Asia Airways or Chelsea Rose in regular colours have they? I'd take those in a heartbeat.

I'm also hoping for someone to finish the 777s as well - would love to see Waves & Cranes, Colum, Chelsea Rose and (most of all) Delftblue Daybreak!

I think you're correct there, Gemini did do a Chelsea Rose 'British Asia Airways' 744 as well as the BA World Cargo 744F which I think was one of those 'unofficial' releases ? Big Bird's mould was utilised to give us the Chelsea Rose 742 example.

Still opportunites out there, although I wouldn't be surprised if BA have asked licenced manufacturers not to do them anymore..

I found these old snaps I took a while ago, the AV400 732 has since been added to my 'Benyhome' collection...

Fantastic shots - Benyhone is one of my favourite world tails (along with Delftblue and Rendezvous). There's still so many that can be done (A320, 737-400 and 757 being the main examples - although I wouldn't mine a redone 767 where the tail isn't crooked!)

It's a shame, I felt the world tails idea could've worked if they had only had a few variations from a regular 'Chatham Dockyard' theme (perhaps the most recognisably 'British' of them - such as Chelsea Rose and Benyhone, and perhaps Rendezvous for the British Asia aircraft). The designers seemingly just went overboard with the idea.

Does anyone know if a Welsh tail ever existed? There's a Scottish tail, English tail and Irish tail. Can't seem to find a Welsh tail though..

Not that I know of, the closest to a Welsh design was probably Blue Poole...
