If so, no problem, otherwise, this is a little mistake of GJ...
I don't think this is a mistake. The 3L/3R doors have slides that eject from a panel on the side of the fuselage, rather than from the door itself as the other doors have. The inflatable ramp leading to the slide would cover the exit markings on the wing anyway, making them unnecessary.

I'm not completely sure about this, but I'll verify it Saturday night when I work aboard the real thing (nicknamed "The Beast" by the AA crews for its size. It's taken a lot for us to get used to having 310 passengers aboard, at AA we're not used to such large planes!) to LHR and I'll get back to you! To be honest, I've never looked for the exit markings on the wings because my jumpseat as Purser is way up front at 1L! I have seen the black landing gear stripes on the wings, though.

I look forward to GJ doing the 1/200 version of this plane.

I spoke with a gentleman who contacted GJ about the release and that was their response as to why everyone is getting short shipped or not at all. Don't believe the hype. They will be coming, and plenty of them for everybody.
So, if this is the case, what about the ones that we have purchased, and have been marked shipped? Like mine? Mine is scheduled for delivery on Monday, already accepted at the Post Office where it was shipped from. Am I getting one of the mis-colored ones?

His statement is 100% false. The model your getting was fully approved by the airline, none are being returned for bad colors.

I wanted to see the response!

Anyone knows that the colors are pre-approved before the models are widely manufactured and distributed.

For any of my customers in the U.S. that read this thread, if you are at all for any reason whatsoever even the slightest bit unhappy with your AA 777 model then feel free to return it and I will not only refund your model price but also the postage you paid to get it AND I will send you a prepaid postage label to return it. For my international customers, please contact me via email and we will work something out.

On a side note, is there anybody here who would care to guess how many of the 777s will get returned based on the the big scary 'news' that AA didn't approve the models because of wrong colors?

My curiosity got the best of me, and couldn't wait until Saturday, so I went over to airliners.net, because I've seen some photos of the AA 77W at LAX that show the tops of the wings.

There are exit markings on the wings. So I guess that means evacuating passengers would be walking on the wings before jumping into the slide, not going down a inflatable ramp that leads to it. Good to know! This little detail isn't covered in our training, we learn how to evacuate from those doors as flight attendants, I guess they figure we'd know once the slide was deployed, since we are taught that the overwing slides deploy down over the trailing edge.

So, we are all still waiting for your retraction, or for you to step up and name your secret source.

Finally, if you want to make this personal then I will arrange for that the next time I am in NYC visiting any one of my numerous friends there.

Nickie- You're starting to sound like Andrew. Hypocrisy? Really? What's so wrong about a collector educating other collectors?
-And YEAH...I doubt you would have cursed me out had I been standing in front of you..and yes you have used the digital wall to vent your anger at my words. I doubt you say"STFU" to people you interact with in person when you don't like something they say. I have no respect for children shouting that garbage at me.

So big deal, you know people? You're not the only person who knows other people who know people...for twenty years and more.

So no retraction. I stand by what I posted and my source. I said I have no reason to lie. If you don't like the message that went out to collectors here to beware of what they're buying, then just put me on ignore.

I look forward to seeing reaction from buyers on this first run. Here's a photo of the real aircraft and the model. Note: Lighting is not 1:1.

I am still hoping the Federal Gov't blocks the merger, and this pathetic color scheme will just become a "special livery"

Herb i think you are mistaken, nobody accused you of lying. Giving incorrect information and lying are two different things. I do believe you posted your information directly from your source, however it seems like his information is incorrect. This does not in any way mean you are lying. Take a chill pill man ~~

- back to topic -

This livery is growing on me, although bare metal livery STILL wins hands down. The colours of the model look good to me, the only problems i can see are that the engines are slightly pointing upwards(In Todd's picture) which is probably just a one-off QC problem.

Sgt. I am quite chilled...it's the others that seem to be short circuiting. I called my source once more to Re-confirm. Same story again, almost word for word. God's honesty injun. If's it's bad info, which I doubt, we'll see. Let's see what surfaces in collectors hands. I look forward to seeing reviews by them.

All is well here in NYC. I'm heading home to re-watch Oblivion one more time. It's my turn with the DVR tonight!

Best,

That's correct Sgt., Mr.Diecast does have a point here.
I've haven't hidden the fact that I've been battling cancer for the past six years. Do I take chemo, yup. Take a lot of pills. Yup. Go to work every day? Yup.

Do I have a job that involves technical presentations as well as technical prototype engineering sketches, design and development? Yes. Have I been doing it well? Yes, especially this past 11 years at the same job in NYC. Just check Linkd In, it's a public site...with everyone's info.

Gossip hound? C'mon Mr.Diecast, aren't you being a little petty here? My posting models, etc. here is gossip? I thought that was the purpose of this site was for collectors to have a voice? Of the 2266 posts and the one conversation,(ever mentioned), with a reliable source makes me a gossip hound? I deserve more credit than that.

Don't worry, nobody will care by tomorrow. You can have the thread deleted, or however you feel I need to be censored. I will not reveal who told me this.

You know people who know people.....perhaps your people aren't telling you all there is to know about their people?

How does that for entertain you?
Next....

In B2707300ST's (Herb's) defense, he has sent me over the years some very helpful and informative messages regarding model planes and 1:1 aircraft. As I relayed to him earlier today in a PM, some of these messages I enjoyed so much, that I've kept them in my PM box. If his info (or hearsay) on this AA 777 release is inaccurate, I'm sure it will pan out in the end.

As I posted waaaay above in this thread, one retailer I know personally was told by the distributor just days after the official release announcement that he could not order additional copies of the AA 777; that they were sold-out on pre-order. You can take that to mean either this particular release was (a) extremely popular, (b) there was a shortage of units manufactured and/or shipped, (c) not enough units were made/shipped to meet demand or (d) a combo of a, b and c. (How 'bout that? Multiple choice!)

If you missed out on this August-release version, I'm sure you'll get another chance to own one very, very soon.

P.S.: Bringing up a member's health or medications crosses a major line of privacy IMHO. That type of information has no place on this forum.

Todd,
I'm sure you're right, with AA operating nine 773ER's at the moment and a dozen more on order, diff regs will no doubt be produced. I just wanted to aquire them all as they became available! I'll find one. Thanks for posting the pics of your's btw.

Probably, although I have always been wondering why UA 757 was released only once, so was DA CRJ-900, UA 737-800... I just can't find an explanation for it.
Double release of DA 777 is fine (its pretty), even triple, but 4-5-6... and only one UA 757 release... doesn't make any sense, just... can't see why.

Airline X gives model airplane company Y their license to make their models. Part of Airline X license agreement is model airplane company Y produces their order requirements when said/ordered as partial exchange for Airline X license.

Well they'll have to quit at some point, they're gonna run out of new registrations to put on the models!

Thank you. I placed my order this morning for one. Have not heard anything yet about the status of shipping, etc I hope they do have them in stock and not on a future restock list!

Hmmmm....I wonder who'd pick up?

Perhaps some douche looking for a metal stand.

P.S: I have one I'm willing to sell should anyone feel they need it right away.

Why would you want to sell it if they are just now coming out? Makes no sense...anyone who wants one can still order and get one.

Why are you worried about it? Makes no sense.

Best of luck to those "who wants one" as most retailers don't have them available and are accepting returns and paying for return postage should someone feel they'd like to return one.

Guaranteed that it is a future 'restock' list.

Adamjets also shows it available but I heard through another collector that the listing is for late September delivery, not August.

Not worried about it. I could care less, just thought I'd ask.

Yeah, I was reading that hoping that it is accurate and they are keeping orders updated...and also hoping that that number isn't another restock list.

Your statement about my info being 100% false based on what? General mood, public opinion?

The models you see multiple releases of, are corporate releases for sale through airline gift shops or onboard sales. This is quite evident with Delta, Hawaiian, Virgin Atlantic...

I could understand if GJ released DA 777 1000 times (and then 1000 times again), that's not the question. The question is - why other modern liveries are being released only once?
Does UA have only one 757 in the fleet and all the passengers flying a 757 systematically refuse to buy 1/400 models sold on board?
